Yay, love my old plus/4.
For cleaning the boards I use the dishwasher, does amazing job with the same tablet we use for the dishes. Just blow the remaining water with compressed air and let it dry for 1-2 days. No issues.
Nicely restored :)
good work and a nice machine with a big colour palette.

Yeah. It’s a weird little thing that I think I’ll come back to. That colour palette is amazing compared to the C64 for sure
I've been learning these challenges myself. In my novice experience, I'd recommend getting a de-soldering iron. It has a larger tip, and so holds more heat where it is needed without actually being hotter. At a push, you can re-solder with it, too, although not ideal.

Hey James. Yeah the problem wasn’t the size. My desoldering iron looked beefy enough, but with just a 30w heater, it just can’t get enough heat into the board to clear all the solder. So off to Conrad I go for something better. :)
personally i dont 'blanket' recap anything unless it obviously needs it, or are known issues for a particular device, 'most' electrolytics last far better and longer than most think , i find more modern caps far worse!😉
Black gloves for a professional job ❤We're too far, otherwise you could be performing an assessment on my Spectrum 48 K. It must be keyboard membrane or ULA, maybe the first hypotetis, "doctor".

Yeah, I have to remember them more often. A few of my Macs have needed a full hazmat suit!

I'm a Mac user, too...since 1994, Mac Performa 450. Those Macs suffer from PCB corrosion in event of acid leaks from a PRAM battery not removed!
