    Hi, Philip. Thank you for this review. This is the best video I have seen so far describing these Comica microphones. I was trying to find best budget microphones that allow me to interview people. I just started this new channel in the Bosnian language that shows people how Bosnians live in the USA. I noticed someone mentioned you are from Poland, so that kind of connected me to your channel ( being from same part of the world) Thanks again and keep doing a great job!

    Hi sir, can we mute one of the transmitter by reducing the gain of that channel on the receiver device? For example during recording, we want to mute mic that is not in the frame at that particular time many thanks

  • @PhillipSkraba

    @PhillipSkraba

    4 жыл бұрын

    Sure, you can push the gain down to zero on the receiver, on the transmitter you only have a mute button, whereas on the receiver you have the screen so you can visually see the gain drop, however, that would leave you with one mono channel.

  • @PhillipSkraba

    Debating between this and the Rode Wireless Go, leaning towards buying the Comica as a beginner. I'm interested, what your thoughts are on the lack of a carrying case? Any DIY case building you've created for this package?

  • @PhillipSkraba

    @PhillipSkraba

    4 жыл бұрын

    They are both fantastic, this one is great as you have two transmitters. The lack of carrying case is disappointing, even a simple one like the Rode Go has. What I do is buy carrying cases from Amazon for mics, they are small hard-soft cases with a zipper, though a little larger than needed, so it's worth looking through Amazon to see what 3rd party mic cases you can pick up for it.

    Hi Phil. Nice video, How do you compare the Boom XD versus the Rode Wireless Go? Take away all the differences in terms of whether there is an extra transmitter / mic, how do you assess the quality of the sound compared to the Rode? And if you were looking to buy a wireless mic setup and had none, which one would you choose? Cheers. Ray

  • @PhillipSkraba

    @PhillipSkraba

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank You! Hi Ray! Well, I have to be honest with you, I'm not a sound guy, I use sound everyday of course to film with and I have done so for many years, but I'm a visual guy, so my opinion is in no way scientific or highly detailed in a sound sense. To me, both these microphones are very, very similar. The build quality on the Rode is better, and it just seems more polished. The Comica comes with two transmitters, sure, that's great, but I haven't had much use for that as I'm a one man band. The accessories Rode makes are pretty awesome, and I've already pre-ordered the Rode magclip and Interview as they seem like really cool additions to an already awesome microphone. So, if I had to choose between one of them, for me I'd probably go with the Rode as it has awesome accessories. However in terms of audio quality they seem i very similar to me, and if someone does a lot of talking heads and two person interviews the Comica is great with the two transmitters. It really depends what you need it for. For me personally, for my needs (KZread) I would choose the Rode.

    @@PhillipSkraba Hey Phil. Thanks for that. It's what I thought you would say and I was thinking all along I'd prefer the Rode for slightly better quality and richer sound. I agree you choose based on what you need. I'm a one man band as well so I may rarely need two mics. And in any case you can just use it as a handheld microphone on a small tripod and cold shoe mount. I'm with you, the Rode is the one for me. I already have the Video mic ME and really pleased with sound quality. So much that it's going in the studio build and the Rode wireless go is coming out and about on location. Thanks. Ray

    Great review Phillip! I got a question though, I got these and I was pretty much happy with them until I tried to plug a lavalier that it's not from them, the JK MIC-J 044, and I noticed a horrible noice coming that doesn't stop. Next thing, I plugged my Rode Videomic GO, SAME THING. Then I realized that it WILL make interference with a lot of other devices. For example, I plugged the Rode Videomic Go to the camera and if I get a bit close, lets say a little less than one meter, it starts to introduce interference to other devices. I don't have any other lavaliers or microphones to test this out, can you check this out? Thanks!!

  • @PhillipSkraba

    I have heard this through the grapevine, and apparently it's a problem. I'll see if I get any interference. So you plugged the Comica to the camera, and the GO into the transmitter, and when you moved close to the camera it went loco?

  • @MattMayolo

    @MattMayolo

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@PhillipSkraba At first I just plugged the videomic GO to one of the transmitters, horrible electronic noises appeared, not usable at all. I thought that it was maybe because that microphone needs power. Then I tried with another lavalier (not the included one) to the transmitter, boom, same horrible noises. Plugged the included lavalier, everything fine. Plugged the other lavalier straight to the camera, all fine, the Videomic GO, fine. But if I get the transmitter of the Comica anywhere next to one meter to the camera, I get this horrible interference. Plugging the Videomic to a portable recorder happens exactly the same, if I put the transmitter close to one meter of the microphone it makes interference. It seems to happen with micropones that need power, and probably the interference gets trough the cable, or probably those two doesn't have a proper isolation from noise, but that never happened to me before. I don't have any other microphones to test.

    How many milliseconds is the delay sound? Is it comfortable to sing, play the guitar, listening to yourself through the speaker system?

  • @PhillipSkraba

    I think the delay might be a little annoying for that, as it's very, very short, less than 20ms, but I understand that can still be a little too much for singing.

    What is the range of this when facing away from the receiver? I want to record prank videos where I'm going to be moving around a lot with my back sometimes to the receiver/camera, will this work for that?

  • @PhillipSkraba

    I got to about 100m whilst testing it before this film and it held up in most cases up to 100m, which is way more than Comica state. At 70m as shown here in the video, you can hear that the sound is still pretty crisp whilst facing away from the receiver. I think it would work for that, sure. It of course depends on your surroundings and if you're hiding behind walls etc.

    I have to be honest with you, I don't really see any difference in sound between them, they both sound fantastic! The Comica for a few extra $ gives you a 2nd transmitter which is cool, they are both of superb build quality, so it's really up to what you need it for.

    If you have a way of connecting them, I've only tested them with cameras I'm afraid. I'm guessing if you connect the transmitter to the mic hole, quite possibly, but I'm not 100% sure.
