Those who don't play guitar don't get how intimidating the level of arranging and interpretation skill on display here is. The dude captured the essence of the original arrangement on a single acoustic guitar while doing the solo with feeling. Incredible.

The arrangement itself is astounding. I arranged a multi-layered guitar track of this years back to learn Logic…and can attest to the nuances that underpin this song. That descending keyboard line 😍

I don’t imagine whoever invented the guitar could have ever imagined such a sound being produced by one person

His loyalty, respect to the song is very unique... He never cease to amaze how he captured those details in the song. That's what makes him special.

Watching this guy play is like watching a chef cook a pot roast and a dessert in the same pot at the same time.

Ladies and Gentlemen, you have just experienced greatness.

I was expecting a second guitar to be layered over for the solo bit, but I was utterly blown away. The magic you can pull off with just a single guitar is second to none. Mad respect.

This actually made me cry. Something about the alternate tuning and the nuance to the solos makes this seem like something greater than mankind. This video has seriously changed my life.

Some people choose to play the solo, the melody, the drums the bass, the vocals. You play them all and leave none all out. I consider myself a good guitarist and could learn a version of Comfortably Numb and never get the sound that you have achieved. Cant stop listening!

Why am I Crying. I am a musician. I play all the songs just like this boy, and have been playing for 45 years but I can only play in my head. You are precious.

This doesn't seem to be a song that lends itself to solo fingerstyle adaptation, but listen to this. Absolutely astonishing. I'm not sure I believed such a thing was possible.

I’m actually breathless after watching that, heart rate is up, it’s like I’ve just witnessed one of the greatest triumphs in the history of man.

I savored the song slowly, waiting for the world-famous solo, and I wasn't disappointed

The REALLY incredible thing is how he captures the feeling, the SENSE and SPIRIT of the song. Just amazing.

@@FocohiAcoustic I beg to differ. Amazing songwriting? Take for example "Another Brick in the Wall" written by Waters. Harmonically, it is pretty basic and dull with a three note vamp. Lyrically it is dumb "We don't want no education". Sheesh. As dumb as it sounds. But when Gilmour comes in with his solo, it sizzles. Take out Gilmour's solo and nothing's there. Same with so many other songs that Waters supposedly "wrote". Most of the songs Waters wrote on The Wall are depressing downers on their own like "Don't Leave me Now" or "One of My Turns" Blecchh. Not very interesting lyrically and harmonically. When Gilmour steps in with the guitar solos on, let's say, Comfortably Numb however, those are the only high points of the album. Same with Wish You Were Here where that famous four note theme as well was composed by Gilmour. On Dark Side of the moon, can you imagine Time or Money without Gilmour's guitar work? One of the most interesting things Pink Floyd did was Great Gig in the Sky which had nothing to do at all with Waters. Of course Syd Barrett was a creative and clever songwriter, but not the dour faced Waters. Lucky for him he could ride the coat tails of his bandmates. In addition, Roger Waters tried to steal the Pink Floyd Name claiming he was the most important part of the band. Luckily he lost. Is that what you mean by "what he did for Pink Floyd? More like a selfish brute.

Simply incredible level of musicianship on display here. Take the first melodic guitar solo for instance at the 2:05 mark. The use of harmonics is amazing. The beautiful chord voicings, the fingerpicking, the melodies and harmonies, the constant rhythm with the picking hand. Someone who doesn’t play the guitar may not know how talented this individual is. But I do. Well done.

He is a natural one man band ... but using the guitar as everything, not like the old days ... chords for the rhythm, fingers and palms for drums, bass on the bottom 3 strings then melody and a flipping whole orchestra on the top 3 strings ... he doesn't even need to sing ... brilliant

This popped up on my feed. Pink Floyd for me is number one of all time.... My first thought - honestly - was that there's no way he can pull this off, and play the solos.. I actually play acoustic guitar. This is mind blowing...

That solo brought tears to my eyes. Just insane. I could’ve listened to another 15 minutes of that.

That might be one of the most incredible guitar performances I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Kent is unbelievable, but difficulty-wise, that may be his best ever. Bass and drums throughout, along with rhythm and lead guitars, all at once. And the lead section was completely inspired. I’m going to be watching this again and again.

Can you imagine trying to play along with Kent? Dude simply does not need bandmates.

Real genius at work. I challenge anyone watching all of his videos to deny the truth of that statement. Genius, no other word for Kent and his work.

Kent is the most unpretentious guitarist, just let's his talent and feeling speak for itself. Another amazing arrangement.

You somehow managed to capture the entire band in that guitar. You didn't miss a single nuance or idiosyncrasy of that song and it was beautifully done!

Kent is one of the best guitarists of the modern era. To play so beautifully and capture every little harmonic without any mistakes is exceptional !!. I could listen to him all day long. I'm sure David Gilmour would agree.

When I say Kent is the best at what he does, someone always pipes up with Tommy Emmanuel. THIS video shows very clearly that they do not do the same thing at all, and Kent is without a doubt the best at what he does.

I think in terms of style and arranging only Eddie Van Der Meer comes to mind, but they tackle very different tunes so it wouldn't really be easy to compare them, not that there is a need to. I am sure Kent would also agree that there is no "best" and it's just a matter of interpretation and each artist has a different way of expressing a piece. At best, once could argue the technique mastery, in which case I'd have to agree that Kent has the highest degree of mastery of it, of the people I've come across so far. Which isn't to say others couldn't do it, but they may preoretize other things over technique...

I can’t possibly add to what others have commented.. This is absolutely mind blowingly good. It leaves musicians and guitar players and anyone else who can understand the level of difficulty and skill required to pull this off, at a loss for words. Fully expected an overlay for the 2nd solo, and then he does it without one. Truly unbelievable.

Ive been playing guitar for 40 years and know I could never place this well. This is on another completely different level than 99.9% of guitar players that ever lived.

This rendition is brilliant and so much soul. This kid's a musical genius.

This sounds like a David Gilmour early pre recorded version when it was a whimsical expression of his heart and soul,I can’t believe how good this is to listen to,thanks Kent.

The playing is amazing, but those are really some surreal arranging skills. Keeping the chords so open that they ring out doing the solo parts and incorporating percussion in it while keeping the flow of the song on a piece such as this is really worthy of all the praise. The choice of tuning certainly helps in making it sound fuller, but the process of arranging a song in a totally different tuning than standard makes it so much harder to work with. Yet you always seem to somehow find a way to get the most out of the instrument that is possible! Mad skills!

Kent Nishimura, is a one-man orchestra.

This is a true masterpiece. I don’t even know what to call that alt tuning. Looks like you got the fat E tuned all the way down to B? …and you’re maybe playing the song a half step up from there? Just wow! It’s just as pure and delicate as the original.

Disgustingly good. Pretty much every single note of the solo was perfect and you still maintained perfect rhythm and timing of the other parts throughout. Take a bow, son.

We now seldom see someone still in their youth playing musics like this. Kent is one of the few that is so passionate no matter what era the song came from. He just not play it, but he also put his heart into it.

Literally plays the worlds most renowned guitar solo while keeping the rest of song flowing, and manages to make it sound beautiful. This is probably the best finger style arrangement I’ve ever seen. And I have seen many.

Agree 💯 I watch everyone who does fingerstyle guitar on KZread and this guy is on another level.

How does this not have a hundred or a thousand times more views? There are some incredible finger style guitarists on KZread, but this guys is, I would say, easily the best and this cover was just mind blowing. Earned a sub and a like for sure, the least I can do!

Kent seems to invent a new tuning with each song. Truly extraordinary, head and shoulders above anybody else doing similar stuff. If you’re not a guitar player, I guarantee you don’t understand just how skilled this kid is. A+, Kent!
