College Student Dan Zamlen Disappears During Phone Call (And The Baffling Case Of Jelani Brinson)

The cases of both Daniel Zamlen and Jelani Brinson share more similarities than just occurring in the same state mere weeks apart. Zamlen disappeared while on a phone call with a friend. Brinson vanished after apparently running suddenly from a friend's house. All the evidence points to the fact that both were held for a period of time before being killed, and their bodies placed in water. The unexplained facts surrounding each case point to an unseen culprit that seemingly has the power to do things we can't fully comprehend.

The world is strange and dangerous for sure. When I was 25 working at a pizza place I'd often walk home since I didn't have a vehicle and some guy always showed up following me in his car, he'd stop and ask where certain bars were and I'd always say "I don't know" and keep walking to which his response was always "hop in and show me" while offering me alcohol. There were even times he'd pull up while I was having a cigarette on break at my job offering me wine. The 'odd' thing is that I'm not a petite small girl but a 5'9" fairly fit male (not ripped but not fat either) and everywhere he came for me was well lit, populated parts of town. One day I decided to test him by making random turns into places where he couldn't get his car and he'd scramble to cut me off by going down adjacent streets but I kept changing my direction and it was quite obvious he was definitely after just me. I always wondered what would have happened if I got in the car with him but there's no way in hell I ever would have. I told people around me, at work etc and the response was almost always laughter. This went on until I left the job after 2 years.

There is one most plausible theory. Satanist at work. And I mean organized groups all over the country. They lure unsuspected victims in some nice way, no guns knifes, no fighting and no escape. Similar what happens to smart you, who awoid most sertanly horrific mental torture for days and strangulation. They trow dead bodies is water to cover for DNA, and manners of dead. They chose young, educated man, on purpose to extract most pleasure from these sufferings. The worse part Satanists could be someone we know well, or our trusted neighbors. How they are able to stay uncover or unetected for so long is mind boggling and scary, that those humans exist at all. Be very careful and be sure who your friends are.

I am not defending the way this coroner spoke to this mother, I am only saying I understand it. When you work around death, or anything for that matter, you are desensitized to it as you are exposed to it everyday. Those of us working in such fields needs to remind ourselves that there is a grieving family on the other end. Something that fact can get lost in the shuffles of everyday work.

I think the police know more about the Dan Zamlin case than they are letting on. I thought that his body was put in the river after the search also, before it was said in the video. I suspect that happens often when bodies are found in areas that had previously been searched. It's just odd that they only looked for him a few days, like they knew he wouldn't be found alive. I agree with the family, something bad happened to that kid.

The two I MEs that performed the autopsy said that there was no evidence that he fell, or had jumped, and also said that it didn't seem that he had drowned. Also with the river as high as it was, his body would have been further down stream or his body would have been more banged up. His insulin pump was even still on him. One of the things I found was the men found in water would almost always be found face down, with some women being found face up. Our coroner explained that fatty breast tissue tended to float more readily and could cause women to float face up.

I'm actually acquaintances with a very kind nurse who's son passed under similar circumstances. I remember when her son went missing and then after they found him. He was troubled but the situation is jusr bizarre and suspicious. They found him in one of those irrigation ponds you see in subdivisions. The area had been searched previously as that neighborhood was more or less his last known area. His autopsy showed nearly every drug possible to test in his body at some level (not too much of an exaggeration). He was also missing some clothing, if I recall. He wasn't found for over a month, if I recall that as well. Just a very sad situation. The police basically dismissed the whole thing despite the weird toxicology tests and the people he was with giving different stories. There's more to it but it just seems very similar to this weird MO of whatever type of missing persons case this is. It's scary.... Clearly foul play imo, there’s just no place for a body to hide for nearly a month along that stretch of riverbank. As for the police’s excuse of being too busy, it’s not unbelievable. The coaches at all 5 rowing clubs on this stretch of the river are on a first name basis with the police because of how often they come across bodies.

My friend and I actually noticed how often it was happening and we’d see the stories pop up in the newspaper explaining the death away as a drowning despite the person not being near water or living in a direction where they’d be walking away from a water source. Duluth, MN specifically has seen a few of these, many don’t make big headlines. Definitely worth looking into for someone such as yourself who seems to have the skillset to research these things. Fun fact: Anoka considers itself the "Halloween Capital of the World," and has many supposedly haunted sites. It also boasts one of the state's major mental hospitals, with underground tunnels connecting the multiple buildings to one another. Meanwhile, St Paul, MN has many caves that bootleggers used to use during the prohibition days. As a kid, I remember going to a haunted cave tour there around Halloween time. A few years back when I was working in North Carolina, one of my coworkers had something similar to these two cases happen to her boyfriend. I don’t know all of the specific details because she was extremely shaken and I didn’t want to ask anything she wasn’t willing to just say. Her boyfriend played college football and was in extremely good shape. He went for a morning run and never came back. He was found in a nearby body of water days later with no apparent injuries. She told me this right before his autopsy happened, after they had identified his body. I thought it was very strange back then but didn’t know this is apparently a common problem…which makes it altogether much more bizarre, sad, and terrifying.

Yes, it could be that he slipped, but the facts (fast river flow, river had been searched multiple times, body was found nearby days later, apparently didn't have water in the lungs) are contradicting this theory. Reefs Roost it's fair to say that it wouldn't quite be considered a "phenomenon" if it wasn't garnering any attention. There's in fact soooo many channels covering this particular topic. And the more, the better. The amount of channels along with the abundance of views garnered is a testament to the tremendous amount of interest this has so far gained. Along with the fantastic examples Junkie Jesus offered, there's many, _many_ more where those came from. The Missing 411 book series (which covered the exact cases in this very vid and literally thousands more like it) played a primary role in kick-starting the sudden interest in this eerie phenomenon. These books were often on back order due to high demand. The author, David Paulides, has his own YT channel as well, and it's unsurprisingly taking off. Along with this, there are other incredibly popular channels with hundreds of thousands/millions of subscribers and even more views. Such as, Bedtime Stories, LordanARTS, all the Top 5's, Merc, Top Mysteries, That Chapter, Steph Young, Oxygen, Heavy Casefiles, Rusty West, Cold Case Detective, Missing Persons Mystery, Lady Masquerade, and so so so many more. This doesn't even include the dozens of podcasts that also cover this material, most of whom post their PC on YT as well. Not trying to bombard you (tho it's prolly too late for that), just showcasing how wildly popular this topic has become and how audience interest/awareness continues to rapidly grow. There's already a _massive_ audience focused on this, luckily there's no shortage of content. And thankfully so, bc I agree that this deeply concerning pattern needs as much awareness as it can get. Particularly since it's become more 'n more evident that certain higher ups are actively trying to keep this alarming pattern on the hush. Which is disturbingly suspicious in and of itself. So like the countless folks who are already interested in this topic, I'm equally fascinated and intrigued. Which is why I'm here for it, all of it. 🙂

In the states surrounding Minnesota, there have been an estimated 80+ cases with similar circumstances spanning over the past 20 years. All victims were males in their early 20's who have miniscule traces of alcohol, high traces of GHB in their systems, all bodies were found in water, and all were ruled as accidental drownings. My theory is that there is a serial killer in the area that has flown under the radar, and is relying on lazy forensics to keep themselves out of trouble. This is further supported by the FBI's statements on there being an estimated 60 unidentified serial killers in America at any given time.

  • @Oli-jm9fc

It's only been a decade or so that forensics have the ability to screen GHB levels. Also the combination even of small levels of alcohol and GHB will render a person unconscious, even may cause a comatose state. Also butyrolactone the "dehydrated version" of the drug is an industrial solvent and intermediate, used frequently in the polymer industry, from which it may have been diverted.

Seems to me, the very worst thing that can happen is your child (adult or not) to go missing and never have closure, to wonder where they are. Are they okay but just got lost? Are they being held against their will? Too many questions!!! My heart goes out to all families in these situations! And to find the person, deceased, yet still no answers!? Cover ups! I do believe there's a lot of covering up going on! May all of those in distress find the answers they so much deserve!!! 🙏🕊❤

Sometime ago I was looking at another missing person case which took me down this rabbit hole that ultimately led me to these "phone call disappearances". I was rather surprised at how many of these exist. There's many well-known like Brandon Lawson, Brandon Swanson, Todd Geib, etc. But there's so many more missing person cases where the person is on the phone displaying some level of fright or cause for concern right before the call disconnects and then they disappear. And not just in the U.S. This strange phenomenon happens in other countries. They all have similar characteristics. David Michael Plunkett from the UK is one that comes to mind. That case is worth a read. There's a video on YT of the parents, they were on the phone with David before he disappeared and they offer a chilling account of that phone call. So sad.

You'll find a wealth of info on these phone call disappearances plus so much more just from those two keyword searches. And if you're really interested in these cases I'd suggest you look into Henry McCabe's case asap. He disappeared for a few months and right before he went missing Henry left an incredibly bizarre and frightening voicemail (which you can listen to right here in youtube), then was found floating in a body of water with no obvious cause of death. Listen to that msg, it'll make your head spin. The whole case will. Good luck. 🙂

I definitely feel like there is a connection between the no shoes and water. To many cases like this. This is concurrent with electricity or some form of energy being used. The people that are found, same with missing 411, the people that are found are found in or near water or granite.Granite is conductive under the right circumstances. Now say something had a means to use energy as a tool to pick up or drop off. These people are gone for days or weeks and returned to the general area but never the exact location due to the needs of a conductive substance to replace the individual. There are stories of people wandering off for no reason. After walking for some time, coming out of a trace like state and saying it felt like something was pulling them or they had the feeling like they had to go somewhere. Once they came back to reality they had no idea how or why they got where they were. Some how something is forcing them to move under their own will to a conductive location? Could it be possible to manipulate the natural GHB in our own systems? If you have listened to or read the many many reports of these cases like I have, just keep this in mind.

For those interested, there is also a textbook on the topic - "Case Studies in Drowning Forensics" by Gannon and Gilbertson. This textbook does an extremely deep, technical and detailed dive into the bizarre specifics of more than a dozen similar cases (like the ones above - Brinson is one of those in the book). Another case in the book, that of Jeffrey Forest Geesy (May 1999, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, age 20) noted the most bizarre thing I've come across - his body contained no blood!!!!!! As for their work as investigators/pathologists was the potential that some of the cases might be attributed so "smiley face-linked homicides."

Police usually does not come to you for being followed around or "feeling followed" you are assuming you already know that the person is a murderer and not some drunk weirdo etc. Calling a person that knows you eliminates long questions when you are in a hurry and often you know if the person you call is close and or reliable - unlike when calling the police. If you have to run or you drop the phone you have someone that can still call the police for you. I am certain that any person that knows for sure that someone is going to murder them they will call the police first. Also being on the phone and talking loudly about being followed and what the guy looks like can help to fend weirdos off. Heck if you have no signal or power just pretending to can safe you a lot of trouble.

His first party in college was spring break, and he fell off a second story balcony flat onto his back, got up dazed, and walked to the beach 5 blocks away where he laid down in the sand and passed out.
