Gen. Powell is why I became a Soldier. I saw video of him during my Government class, it was a mini-docu similar to this video. It spurred me to learn more about the General, and after having done a lot of research, I used the General as the very model for manhood, servanthood and Patriot, by which I would gauge myself and my life's journey. Thanks General Powell!

+Killa Silverback Gorilla Ok but it's not that simple. There is a marriage between business and government and military in this country that is not healthy and you will see that in your adventures. Good luck to you.

Like Colin Powell, my brother Alvin was 101st Airborne in Vietnam! He earned a medal, but he had been agmostic THERE. However, eventually Alvin became a Chaplain for the Illinois State Prison System! The LORD very PATIENTLY opened my precious brother's eyes. 💞 HALLELUJAH! 🙏🙌

Colin Powell was a 3 star general serving in Europe when he wanted his Commander in Chief, Reagan to call him to serve as National Security Advisor. This is to earn the respect of other generals at Pentagon.

I guess I'm old school but I was taught a statesman, leader or true individual places personal gain aside when they see wrong doing...Where was Powell's voice when he condoned and promoted torture of prisoners? I wonder what we are teaching our children when lies carry more weight than facts. Just being black is not a justification or vindication of being part of an immoral policy...honor and integrity have no value today.

I was blessed to meet Col. Colin Powell in 1971 in Vietnam. I was an infantry grunt headed home for RR to the USA. I was in my combat fatigues and a bush hat. I was walking somewhere and passed Gen. Powell, he immediately asked me why I didn't salute him. I told him I was a combat infantry grunt and we were told never salute an officer because that might lead to the officer getting shot by the enemy. He looked at me and smiled and told me to get on with my business. Many year later I was at a business trade show and Gen. Powell was a speaker. After his presentation I went up to him and mention the above event. He smiled again which made me think he remembered this event. I am a big fan of his and I am here because I have watched hours of the President George H.W. Bush tributes and needless to say Gen. Powell was in many of the scenes related to Pres. Bush. When I did a Google search I found Gen. Powell and I have other connections. He is an Episcopalian and an Aries, so am I. I hope one day I have a chance to shake his hand again. Wolfie the Grunt
