This is a meal I could pounce on. It is OK if I must take it up north to the mountains where we can experience a light frost. Thank you for the trip back in time. Growing up in my Grandparent's home, my grandfather would often tell me about his time in the US Army coast artillery. After a serious stroke, he could still explain point by point how plotters would triangulate on target rafts and often hit with the first round. Sometimes, windows in the living quarters down the hill from the heavy gun emplacements were blown out during practice. Happy memories of time past.

I've had so many freeze-dried blueberries in my life...even before joining the Air Force. My dad worked at the place that makes those. They also used to make the square fruit bars and my dad would bring home 'rejected' ones a few times a year in a huge garbage bag, there would be nothing wrong with them, just not up to the standards they set...they were delicious!

couple things i have learned over the years. the dryer a pop tart is the older it is. had a couple of fresh moist ones couple years ago. turned my opion of them around. then the pic of the ham/scrambled egg c-rat, brings back a excellent memory. was in the armies navy. did 3 yrs at ford island. would allways scarf up the left over c-rats from the guys coming back from the big island. one of the last ones was the ham/scrambled egg. after hearing all the horror stories on this c-rat. heated up the can. turned out tobe excellent. little salt & pepper to taste, hit the spot. army from 78 to 98. a favorite c-rat was the ham slices w/ crackers, these days hormel canned ham & carr's plain water crackers are a excellent sub. if you have ad cabelas or bass pro shop in your area. check out the camping food section. brigdeford is the company that does the pizza slices, mre bread selections (cinnamon, french toast, an others).

That's what they were to me. First thing I would do when unpacking my morning meal was look for the snack item and put it in my jacket pocket. I also never really cared too much for the bread but always saved it for later and ate it most days. They had me as a Security Forces Augmentee for a few months at the start of the Iraq War over in England helping guard the bombers they were sending over. The British MP's had their K-9's and I would share with one of the dogs when he would come around.

Happy memories of time past.

couple things i have learned over the years. the dryer a pop tart is the older it is. had a couple of fresh moist ones couple years ago. turned my opion of them around. then the pic of the ham/scrambled egg c-rat, brings back a excellent memory. was in the armies navy. did 3 yrs at ford island. would allways scarf up the left over c-rats from the guys coming back from the big island. one of the last ones was the ham/scrambled egg. after hearing all the horror stories on this c-rat. heated up the can. turned out tobe excellent. little salt & pepper to taste, hit the spot. army from 78 to 98. a favorite c-rat was the ham slices w/ crackers, these days hormel canned ham & carr's plain water crackers are a excellent sub. if you have ad cabelas or bass pro shop in your area. check out the camping food section. brigdeford is the company that does the pizza slices, mre bread selections (cinnamon, french toast, an others).

That's what they were to me. First thing I would do when unpacking my morning meal was look for the snack item and put it in my jacket pocket. They had me as a Security Forces Augmentee for a few months at the start of the Iraq War over in England helping guard the bombers they were sending over. The British MP's had their K-9's and I would share with one of the dogs when he would come around.
