You dont have to be vegetarian to enjoy a meal like that, absolutely lovely.
Love when you do the vegan options. Thank you
I learn so much from this channel. I've made base gravy maybe 20 times now and bring it to my parents on the weekends (we grew up eating Indian food together, their best friend owns Indian restaurants in NY for 40 plus years now) and they are so impressed with my skills. Really I just followed what Latif shows us. As of right now I can make convincing palak aloo, aloo gobi, vegetable korma and tikka. The phrase I know for this dish is chana palak, which I have not made yet, but I am going to make tonight and bring to my parent tomorrow. They are vegetation (I am not), so I love the to bring the non meat dishes to them.

I absolutely love Indian food and the moment I realised that you're basically using the same basic gravy (onion/garlic/ginger/salt/base-spice-mix/tomatoes) for a massive number of dishes my mind was blown. I've experimented a lot of the years, as long as you take your time with the onions and use enough fat the results are basically always good. I taste 0 difference when I throw the garlic/ginger mix in with the onions or after the onions have been caramalised, you just have to be careful not to burn them. At home that's fine as you're cooking at lower temps. Has anyone tried freezing the gravy? Making batches with only the core spices (paprika, chili powder, cumin, coriander) and keeping in the fridge for a few days works fine.

@@radicalbyte I always make a big batch and freeze it in 1ltr portions, no issues at all
Latif's videos deserve more publicity. This chickpea curry is so simple yet awesome. Same goes for his other videos. No bs straight to business. Amount of tips and tricks I learned just by watching his videos are astonishing.
This recipe made me feel like I belong on Master Chef ha!! My family couldn't believe I'd cooked it!! Literally the best curry 🤤
This has to be one of the best value home cooks in years, a tin and chickpeas is usually under £1, you can find spinach and fresh chillies for a similar price and tomatoes needn't be that expensive.
Thank you for the vegan options, Latif! 🙌 The many cuisines of India are such a rich source of vegetarian/vegan recipes.❤
I made this a 2nd time last weekend to take to a Christmas potluck party. It turned out quite differently to the first time (see my other comment from 6 months ago) and from how I saw Latif make it. The differences were: I doubled the size, and also I simmered it at the end for ~3-4 hours! Latif might say that "I bhuna-d it!" Since I was multitasking with work commitments I ended up getting to the point of adding the coconut milk in plenty of time, knowing that I couldn't do anything after that because of work. So I had it on simmer for that long. By the time I took it to the potluck, it was a deep, tan color. Plus it seemed thicker than before, which makes sense considering how long it had been heating. It got a massive two thumbs up from everyone at the potluck, and my wife told me that whatever I did differently this time, to make sure I did it again the next time. No pressure.
- this looks absolutely bangin'! Love it!
Another amazing vegan dish. Wow this looks delicious 😋 and thank you for listing all the ingredients in the description 👌🏼
Please can you do Dhall Samber with Spinach, my absolute favorite side dish. Only one restaurant I know does it with spinach and it is simply incredible. Thanks.
Just cooked this, added some cheeky prawns too...absolutly amazing
That looks easy chicpeazy to make. Thanks chef!
Giving me Trinidad vibes!
just followed your Madras for the umpteenth time, looks like there's another to add to the list - and for the Bank Holiday weekend as well ! Thank you !
Thank you Latif, another gem. Great tip about adding a little water to the onions to prevent them from burning.
I’ve made this twice now and it was gorgeous both times. Swapped out a couple of ingredients because I didn’t have all of them and it was still great. The second time, used home grown baby kale instead of spinach and added some left over new potatoes - it’s definitely a recipe that you can adapt and it’ll still be very tasty. Thanks so much Latif, you really inspired me!
Bro, I wish I can tell you in person how much I LOVE and how much I LEARN from your cooking! You're the best! And I love how you say "God Bless!" each time you add the spices, etc! Adds love to everything! I made many of your dishes and my family love them! God BLESS indeed and wishing you well !
This kind of recipe is exactly why I love your channel. Beautiful authentic recipe that I can make myself. Thanks so much!!
Thank you Sir. I really enjoy watching your videos, and the passion you have for the food is so infectious. Indian food is my absolute favorite! Great job! Keep it up my friend.
Beautiful. I love subbing mustard greens for the spinach in curries and soups like this.
I've just made this and it is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Had to force myself not to make your Dahl Bhuna (also amazing) for the 1000th time! So glad I made the change. This is divine. Thanks for your vegan recipes ❤
Another wonderful curry for us to make, mmmmm! Many thanks latif xx😅
Many thanks Latif for the recipe. It looks great. The little prayer before and during the cooking process is a really beautiful touch and something to think about. Every culture has its beauty and we can learn from all.
Of all the curry books I have bought over the years. Your recipes win hands down. Delicious, thank you Latif 👍😊
I made Latif's daal the other day and I must say it was the first time I managed to produce a daal as good as what you get in a quality BIR. Thank you, Latif, I'll try this next.
Another absolutely fantastic video. More of these videos PLEASE.

Through your recipes my wife and I have become converted to vegetarian food....have you tried raita with pomegranate seeds....wonderful
I am Cape Town, South Aftica. I made this dish for lunch today for guests and it was a hit. I made a double portion and toned down the spices a wee bit and it was still terrific. That methi leaves at the end just gave the dish an amazing aroma. Thank you for the recipe chef. Keep up the good work. Your restaurant is a must visit when i ever travel to Britain. Problem is i don't where exactly you are. Please share that here. Salaams
Everyone should make this dish! Fantastic!! Big hit with my family! Thank you chef!
Thank you for making a vegan curry that looks great I will make that it looks lush
All of your recipes are wonderful! Share it with my daughter that is college and she also love your recipes. Don't stop making videos. It's easy and you explain it very well. Especially on the spice. Thank you!!!
Oh my word, delicious. It would be my dream to eat in your restaurant ❤
Many thanks for the recipe, I'll be trying this one look amazing.
I love any recipe that has kasuri methi in it. There was a wonderful Indian grocer where I used to live. I had come across a recipe that called for kasuri methi, but had never heard of it before. I looked on the shelves of the market, but couldn't find any. When I asked the grocer about it, he said all he had was a bulk bag for the adjoining restaurant. So he got out a sandwich baggie and put a handful into it and GAVE it to me. I went back the next week and bought a 4 ounce box that had just come in. I really, really miss that market and the wonderful people there.
It's one of my favourites. Beautifully cooked by Latif....personally I love to eat food where I know nothing has been killed for my stomach pleasure. This curry is utterly delicious. I'm not a veggie or vegan, but I love the plant based food that India is so famous for. Latif's cooking is an absolute joy to watch and the food he cooks is devine.
Looks lovely, thank you. I really appreciate the vegan dishes.
Wow !!! Just made this. It was perfect. Quite spicy but very creamy. My husband who is a trained chef gave a score of 10/10!! I used coconut oil to fry the onions - much healthier.
I have everything to make this dish! I know what I am having for Sunday lunch!
Watched this just now and had all the ingredients so it’s ready and an amazing meal ❤
Made it twice. Loved it. My Indian colleague said it was icroyable
I cooked this dish today and it was soo tasty!! Even my kids who tend to be suspicious regarding new dishes loved it ❤️ Took only kashmiri chili and it was still hot enough for me 😀 Thank you for your inspiration!
I swear, KZread has invented Smell-o-vision. Yum yum. Thank you, thank you for this
Thank you latif! My goodness I have been following you for about a year now and I love your cooking videos! I am vegan and especially love the vegan videos you do. With your other videos I usually just follow the recipe and discount the meat part and they are so good! :) Thank you again. Much love and looking forward to more Latifs inspired! :)
I made this last night, Latif. But i used dried chickpeas that I soaked and boiled. I also use a can of coconut from a cheap supermarket brand which wasn't as thick or flavoursome as I had hoped. But damn, it tasted good!
Another wonderful recipe!
That looks magnificent!! I’ve got all the ingredients but couldn’t work out if you used the tomatoes with the coconut….I do now & will look forward to cooking this!!! ❤️👍🏼
Wow! I would LOVE coconut chickpea curry with spinach! That looks and sounds totally delicious. You don't have to be vegetarian or vegan to like the food. It's gotten really, really good.
