CNC Machining a Camshaft Holding Tool at 8 MRR on the MR-1 CNC Gantry Mill - Part 1

In this video we show the first side machining operations for making a Camshaft Holding Tool from a piece of billet aluminum on the MR-1 CNC Mill. For the roughing pass we wanted to showcase the power of the machine by taking a massive 8 MRR cut with a 3/8" carbide end mill (Material Removal Rate, expressed in cubic inches per minute). The facing finish pass and chamfering was done with our custom Fly Cutter and 1/4" Chamfer Mill respectively. The material is 7.5" in length, 4" wide and 3/4" thick. Depth of cut is 0.59" and Width of cut is 0.136". Feed speed is 100 inches per minute.
Part 2 will show the part flip and finish facing and chamfering so stay tuned.

Anyone who is watching this and making comments other than affirming the sheer ground breaking nature of what this product is just isnt being honest. Show me one mill that costs twice as much making parts this nice this fast. Just one.

I've been checking all the mr1 videos posted. Still would like to see more steel cutting videos. I'll admit surface finish looks great. The real thing that will set this apart from fine line automation and avid machines is its ability to cut steels and stainless. Please post more videos. Also I know some comments on another video discussed sending out to a third party for dimensional analysis of accuracy any chance of that happening?

Our goal is always to keep costs to a minimum where not required. After years of extensive testing we just simply have not had a machine skip steps or lose position when cutting, even with insane cuts in steel. When we run our test machines it's always about what can we do to break this thing. The reality is that with ball screws you can generate a very high thrust force for each axis; 135 lbs to be exact. The cut you see in this video is only 80lbs of thrust load and this is really pushing the machine to the limit. I think most people would be happy in their garages cutting at 1/4 of this speed when making parts.
