Will you be my Valentine? Roddy Piper had a legendary Dog Collar match with Greg The Hammer Valentine in 1983. He's literally asking MJF to be his Valentine. That is such a next-level line. Punk is so great.

This is 100% going to be MJF's Triple H moment (as in Triple H vs. Cactus Jack). He will win the match and state his case as a main eventer (and the next AEW World champion after Hangman). But he is going to leave a trail of blood back to the dressing room and leave a little bit of his soul behind in the ring. It's as Punk said in their very first promo faceoff - MJF enrolled himself in a school that his parents cannot afford.

MJF's facial expression tells a great story, of mixed emotions of arrogance, confusion, fear and respect. Very few are able to put this off. And Punk with that promo brings back the 2013 vibes against Heyman/Lesnar. This feud just got taken to a whole new level, without it being repetitive and boring. A masterpiece at its finest.

The best promo of the night. CM Punk verbally & MJF with facial reactions, Sold this perfectly. Side note: CM Punk could bring up his own history with this match stipulation and how he was once in MJF's shoes, With a guy called Raven.

Excellent expressions from MJF. You could really see the emotional turmoil he was in, fluctuating between being angry and breaking down (adds layers to his character) before before unable to answer in the end. Beneath his brash posture and lack of fear duking it out with anyone on the mic, he’s someone who deeply cares about wrestling and his idols (e.g., Punk).

The one thing I’ve consistently enjoyed on AEW for the last handful of months is CM Punk. I think his return was starting to lose a little bit of steam, but the MJF feud has really lit a fire in Punk. I absolutely love it. After this feud is over, I can’t wait to see what’s next for Punk. I’m hoping it’ll either be Danielson, or maybe even Joe or Windham. Those stories tell themselves!

The best part of the segment was mjfs silence and walking off. That sells the significance of the type of match they're having. These two are geniuses and a god send to us fans. This fued is old school 80s nwa and southern wrestling brought to now

This is the kind of promo I used to hear from Bret in 1996-97 in his feud with Austin. He was still Bret, but he put over Stone Cold big time and set him up for a great promo. Punk is just better with his words. But they both understand ring psychology like crazy. MJF needed this legitimacy. Punk is giving it to him. This is how wrestling should be.

CM Punk was truly the Yin to MJF's Yang, the Batman to his Joker, the Sherlock to his Moriarty. Without Punk, MJF's just a bull fighter waving a red cape at nothing.

This match will show a different side to both and put mjf and punk on the map a whole nother way

I really thought that MJF would ultimately come back with a bold face and snarky comeback, but the fact that he stayed shook and stormed off without a word spoke volumes.

He’s the most believable character ever in wrestling. Punk makes everything real and he draws you in with his intensity & how well paced his promo’s are. He’s right there with the best ever with cutting a promo

That dog collar looks intense...can't wait for Revolution. Lets see which men will make a legit...revolution This feud just makes the Dog Collar Match that turns mens into actual punks out in the street

The way he delivered his own name and the crowd was chanting along with it reminds me a little bit of Paul Heyman

You want to be hating on Bratt Pitt aswell for playing Achilles while not being the worlds greatest fighter? Punk is still the best promo in wrestling. He totally captivated the audience from the start by using his old heel promo line, everyone was thinking "What is going on here!?" and everything after was just beautiful.

In my 25 nearly 26 years of living I honestly think this is one of the greatest rivalries I've ever seen in professional wrestling history that's just my opinion 🔥
