That was an incredibly "weak" powerbomb from a storytelling perspective. Really shows that Wardlow's heart wasn't in that at all. This slow burn face turn has been great so far. When he finally does snap and plant MJF the roof will come off whatever building they're in.

not gonna happen like that. MJF and the Pinnacle will turn on Wardlow. If Wardlow "snaps" on MJF that would pretty much ruin the entire feud before it began. The entire build up to a PPV match is so that babyface can finally get his hands on the cowardly heel, that's ruined if the babyface beats up the heel right away.

I do love the way they're portraying wardlow. His reluctance to join in just adds more layers to his eventual turn.

I loved that d segment!!!! Punk was done talking and wanted the beat the living hell out of MJF who again tried to cower hos way out of the match by saying he would never have a dream match in Cleveland and instead shocked punk by saying they will have their dream match in Chicago!!! But MJF warned the fans saying they just like LeBron James puno will leave those that love him the most when he loses the big match to him. And then MJF goons entered the ring beating up punk with a chair and Wardlow disgustingly watched not wanting anything to do with it!! Having Wardlow internally struggling whether to hurt punk or destroy MJF was such great storytelling!!! When Wardlow turns on MJF he will be the next big Babyface!!!!

Maybe it's a work. They teased dissension between MJF and Wardlow before and that turned out to be nothing. But do I believe MJF needs to get Wardlow back on his side bc that big man might turn on the pinnacle. If that doesn't happen then MJF needs to be clever and formulate a backup plan to neutralize Wardlow if he attempts to turn on them.

They did plant seeds. There was that segment where MJF forced Wardlow to sign a contract to hand over his belt to him should he win a title. They might build up Wardlow have him win a belt and do a face turn with him taking out MJF once he wins it.

Punk leading by example. Put over Darby, then literally put HOOK on the map, has already put over Britt Baker multiple times and is now going to elevate MJF to superstardom level. Truly the best in the world !! 🧨🧨

@@josgor9061 in my opinion, yes it did. It did one thing, showed he could wrestle. Not just be Darby allin in the ring but actually, truly wrestle, really work. Tell a story doing a different style of wrestling, different style of storytelling, different psychology. It showed diversity. My gf who only occasionally watches wrestling, watched this match and she saw it. It got both men over, by showing the same thing, that when they want to they can work differently and are great at it.

Wardlow wasn't planning yet, but AEW is expertly building it (slowly). They are also using the eventual face turn to continue tuning the viewers in. It's brilliant.

This rivalry so AWESOME it should go longer!

I enjoy building of Wardlow character, I never really cared about him before, but AEW just makes me so invested in storylines that I can't help but being intrigued of what shall follow and how it will end.

Great, great segment. I enjoy the small things. They did not also build up more heat and promoted their fight, they also managed to build up Wardlow and they also managed to make the other guys (FTR, Spears) not look stupid. The CM Punk/MJF-program is consistently the best part of the show.

Damn MJF went in cold on this one! 😂 one hell of a promo, he needs to go over in this fued.

Back in late 90s and early 2000s, Triple H is the most hated heel in the business. Now early 2020s MJF is the most hated heel in the business. Keep up the good work future champ!

MJF must win this feud. It can be the previous step to compete for the AEW championship. He is unbeatable on the promos, but, he needs to show his in ring skills.

I absolutely love that they are allowing the 2 greatest wrestlers on a mic in the past decade plus, just go at it on the mic before they meet in the ring! This is absolutely the best thing in wrestlering and I'm not a big AEW fan because almost none of their wrestlers can cut a promo! AEW is brilliantly letting this fued go

is it me, or do Punk sounded like Cena? and if there’s someone who has the greatest potential to go over in this program, it would be Wardlow.

MJF doesn't want to wrestle in Cleveland because it's disgusting and an absolute cesspool. So, we'll get the match in Chicago, IL, on Groundhog day. A few things that came to mind when I saw this: 1) Isn't this town also the home of his more famous counterpart 😉? 2) Wouldn't it be funny if Bill Murray was at AEW next week? Just saying. 😊 Let's go!!?

I'm really surprised that Jon Moxley didn't come out and back up punk knowing that Cleveland isn't too far from home for Moxley. They also could of brought out Bryan Danielson to aide MJF instead of the pinnacle and set up the fued between Moxley and Danielson.

Loving the Kenta vibes by crossing his legs on Punk

The end where MJF was posing sat on Punk's chest, mad flashbacks to KENTA attacking Shibata and joining Bullet Club a couple of years back

Man, when MJF finally gets the big W that boy is getting shot straight through into the stratosphere. He's already shown that he's second to none on the mic and if he puts on a great wrestling performance against one of the best industry vets in the world, there's no reason they cant parley that into a major push

I don't know why, but I'm seeing a Straight Edge Society revival in the future with Wardlow replacing Gallows. Either that or Wardlow and Punk becoming allies, with Punk eventually winning the heavyweight belt and then dropping it to Wardlow.

Did anyone else notice they're also building a feud between MJF and Wardlow. He was so hesitant on delivering the powerbomb then when he delivered it he didn't throw him down with a lot of force
