The most logical answer to the puffs of smoke at around 1:23 could be sabots from another UKR tank more to the left. Considering the seen UKR tanks distance to the treeline and the fact that sabots fly about 100-200m meters before hitting the ground it would be a likely position for a third tank of the platoon. (EDIT: Also the fact that the puffs of dirt appear slightly at different times matches APFSDS sabots landing.)

One of the smartest and forward thinking decisions regarding the KF 51 Panther was adding an additional crew member as a drone operator, situational awareness is the biggest weakness of any tank, they could have properly scanned that tree line with a drone with thermal camera before even advancing into range of any potential hidden infantry with AT weapons then take them out from stand-off distance with the main gun, I guess another tank crew will have to learn that lesson for them

So first blow didn't do a shit to it. RU crews (which is correct to do) are living tanks after any medium damage. There is no point to lost entire crew to do a one or two additional shots. anybody got a link to the original video and what happened next? because the second russin tank is clearly still there and moving. what happened after this footage?
Thanks for the analysis
It appears from the first explosion that the projectile is cumulative and according to the trajectory of the jet, as you can see that the projectile was fired from point A to point B, I mean from the left and the right. But the location of the first launch is not shown in the video.
It's also possible the first hit penetrated into the turret (and set the ammo smoking) but he/they kept driving forwards as they were right next to enemies, hoping to get to better possible before bailing? Though those launch smokes just before the explosion seem very likely cause as well. They would hit the tank on the vulnerable sides / back.
Good redsplaination from RedEffect
Did the first tank get it at 0:58? If I look at x0.25 speed, I see the explosion at the tank BEFORE the light caused by what it has hit it. the exxplosion from the tank behind the trees was most likely as a result of the earlier attack. Often tanks are seen attacked, they carry on whilst parts of the surface burn before the entire tank explodes as the fuel and weapons get affected by the fire
Right before the two small dust plumes theres is a really slight glint that flies from left to right. Could be a sabot round with the plumes being the actual sabot.

Heat hit just next to the target, otherwise it doesnt do any dammage. EFP can form further away like the NLAW. What we see there is an EFP that exlodes some 30 meter away. @@brendancrummey5723 After USSR collapse, 90s with shutting most of facilities, cause u building democracy and don't need fucking 30k tanks, and 20 years of Putin policy builded by corruption and ignorance of any problem. They are making all they can from T90M to T55 everything that left from USSR is currently are in work, but its grains of what was, like "new" tanks are only produced in UVZ as most T72B upgrades, you have dying for 40 years Omsk and Kirov tank factories, which can repair T80 as T62 , then somehow alive repair facilities in far East for example they sre contacted to make 60 T62 and 8 T80BV per month and that's all of them. Also don't forget they don't get any cash , like NPZ , who produce optics for tanks didn't get paid like for 10 years now , Russian army have a lot of internal debts, which strict expanding of facilities.
Looks like it was hit by an NLAW
the only tank duel is that one earlier this year with t72 vs t80
Where did this happen?
I hope we get to see some proper tank duels, perhaps even with Leopards

They're starting to make those cages with ERA on them I think that's a good idea
They're getting closer though.
Damn, that must be 0% survival chance for the crew members. Hurts to see casualties from both sides. People get too carried away with politics and forgets that it is people who get hurt or die in wars 😢

yes but one side is invading so it's harder to have compassion for them, but I agree many Russians soldiers were endoctrinated or forced in that conflict and doesn't deserve to die like that.

honestly...i got no problem with cope cages long as they don't restrict the crew's ability to get out or see. yeah its cheap, it likely wont stop anything. but in the 1 in a million chance it does...its paid itself off for a literal scrap cost. so...why not.

@Russia Bro Z (You know, like Dragonball Z lol) double so when ukraine has been shown using quad copters to literally drop grenades on top of russian positions this cage, even sloppily made, would be perfect to remove the risk of that causing trouble with the tank optics
Nice a analysis.
seemed like a tow 2b hit on the cope cage.
Could the small gusts of dust be the parts that are discarded from APFDS shells after firing?

No, those were Javelins being fired and destroying RU armor. Same tree-line tactic I saw a year ago. Why the hell troops can just stand in the open with NO FEAR from RU rocket/arty is just mind blowing to me.

Tank battles rarely happen these days because they get taken out by artillery long before they can even see another tank.
I'm betting it was a third tank and that those are sabot petals hitting the ground.
Rip crew :(
Methinks it's a squad of Ukr infantry with NLAWs and Carl Gustavs and/or AT4. Also saw the possibility the first blast with the visible jet may be an off-route AT mine placed by the infantry. Whatever it was, 3(+?) shots at the enemy tells me they really wanted him to rapidly disassemble.

Nlaw for first hit and something with possibly Tandem warhead for second. Nlaw at that distance is possible but its close to its safe distance possibly was a RPG-7 since they are used more often... Albeit not with Tandem, but its not like the other ones there have it

Friendly kill? Clearly these tanks and what is known as UA tanks do not engage even later on. All 4 tanks are thus Ukrainian.
Looks like this is the last year video.
0:57 WTF the cope cage worked ???
Looks like a directional AT mine
Tanks vs tank is very uncommon in this war. Inmobilisation and then kill by another weaponsystem seams to be more common.
Something like a dm22? At least for the last 2 hits.
What if it was a sabot round from a yet another Ukrainian tank "intercepted" by some sort of an APS? The puffs of dust could be sabot petals...The firing tank could be hiding on the other side of the treeline. With the sabot fired from this distance the APS probably didn't do all that well, hence the tank finally caught fire a few moments later.
