Duplicate your plants with this easy air layering method. It’s not difficult to execute and has virtually no maintenance in most situations. Just wait a few months and you will have a new free plant. Due to a heavier workload and a few health issues I was unable to publish videos during the last few months. I hope to resume a more regular publishing schedule as soon as possible. I am very sorry for all the viewers and subscribers that asked questions and published comments that remained answered during this period. I appreciate your input and support. Thank you very much. If you like the video or have any questions, leave a comment and I will try to answer as many as I can. Thanks for watching.

I have been grafting for 8 years now. Everything that I've learned, that actually worked, I learned from this channel. Now I'm blessed with multiple varities of apples, grapes, figs, jujubees, persimmons, papaws, elderberries, plums, peaches, sea buckthorn, and aronia. This guy is so awesome. Thanks for making the world better, brother.

I grafted my first citrus trees last year. We bought property with a creel and it just happened there were a good crop of trifoliate in the wooded area around the creek. My dad has been grafting trees for quite a while...all of his rare mandarin tangerine trees died during a freeze but one his grafted tree's he had given to someone survived! ! So we drove there and my dad (85yo) shakes too much now so I took over grafting. At one year since I grafted the tree I kept I have 30 fruit that look like they will not abort! The tree is still tiny, just barely knee high but she want to keep the fruit. I've had tree's that my dad grafted (all killed by major freezes) that, according to my dad, I over fertilized but had fruit on the grafted tree the first year. Since moving to the country I have chicken and use their poop and have seen unreal growth in my grafts. My grafts are just as big in diameter as the original root stock! I grafted 8 trees but none had as much growth as the two I kept. One of my trees was grafted two years ago, but after a year the grafts died so I grafted it last spring. The grafts took off better than my tree with all the fruit, but only has a handful of fruit on it?!?!

You should start grafting your compatible trees together so you can get multiple types of fruit on the same tree

@@PraiseTheFSMonster I actually have a Trifoliate tree in a pot that has two separate limbs. It made a prefect "Y" and it might be idea for a project like that. Remember I grafted these two trees in Feb of this year! I'm going to have 7 fruit on one and 6 fruit on the other! Both trees have three bud grafts each. The smaller tree has the 7 fruit, but the three bud grafts have grown into 11 different branches. All 6 bud grafts are already the same diameter as the root stock!

I stumbled upon your grafting videos one night last year and was fascinated and did a ton of research into it and ended up grafting a bunch of pear branches onto hawthorns arround my parents parents farm. It was late spring and all my "scions" were actively growing branches from there pear tree so wasn't expecting much more than just kill some time but I am happy to say a few took! I plan to do the same this year but my scions have been sitting in the fridge a few weeks. Buds will break soon on the trees so if anyone's reading this wish me some luck in my second season of grafting!

I had an old graft that was suffering from competition from other wild rootstocks near by so, even if its not recommended, I decided to air layer the grafted branch (probably 5-6 years old). Now, I must prune the new tree heavily and control the spring leaf growth, so the small root system as a chance to catch up. I will try to get a few images of the new tree development for a future update. Thanks for the comment and the support.

This is FANTASTIC!! Thank you for making and posting this video. I really love to work with plants and enjoy their benefits. I live in Florida USA where weather is very hot & humid. I will try this very soon! One thing that you do not mention, is how long to wait before checking for root growth. I don't think that you would want to unwrap everything too soon, just to find out that it is not ready yet.

Figs - 1-3 months depending on the season. Citrus - usually 4-6 months. The air layer in the pluot I show at the end was 7 months when I cut it (the development of the roots on the grafted rootstock was very slow, so I waited a couple more months after the initial check). In most cases, when the air layer is done in early spring, after 4-5 months you should have enough roots to be able to cut the branch.

While air layering by this grafting guru proved to be a very effective way to get a new tree, propagating Mulberry is actually as simple as using a cutting from the mother tree.
