Clipping Masks: Alpha inheritance, Alpha Lock & Groups in Krita
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Understanding how to use the inherit alpha and lock alpha features in Krita was difficult to me, but is actually quite easy. That's why I decided to make this video.
These options to create masks are present in most painting softwares with some tweaks and differences on each one. But I have noticed that a lot of people have difficulty understanding it in Krita. I hope this video is usefull to you.
The way the layers system in Krita works is quite powerful. You can create masks that are 'clipped' not only to one layer but the layers you want. The Inherit alpha and lock alpha features allow us to use a faster workflow to colouring, shadding and lighting.

This is insane how actually good you delivered all this information. Thank you and wish you all best.
im so happy someone was able to describe alpha as the transparency and actually make me understand clipping masks, i really appreciate it
ive been looking through various layer tutorials, and this is by far the best one Its straightforward, to the point and you dont spend 10 minutes talking about a specific thing, you show it whilst you explain it Honestly, you are a rarity in these kind of tutorials that actually helps
Wow wow wow ive been watching SOO many videos about layers and alphas and all that jazz. NOTHING has helped me understand it until i watched this! Thank you very much 2 year old video still holds up thank you thank you!

Fantastically clear and concise tutorial! Thank you for zooming in on the buttons, that way we don't need to squint to see you what are doing.
I never knew how to use alpha before... i used this program for almost 4 years oh my god this makes everything so much easier, thank you so much
Sergio your animations about "alpha" are effective. Continue like that.😄
I dont need to check all the video to like it already. 1 year has pass but the "intro animated xD" is master piece!
Thank you. This tutorial has delivered me from my tedious erasing misery
The fact that he zooms up on the icons he's using, is a god send for me lol. Subscribed!
I'm not saying anything that everyone else hasn't already said, but I just have to say that you did an incredible job explaining this in the most simple and straightforward way possible. This is something that I couldn't even begin to figure out how to explain to someone else, yet you just taught it like it was 2nd grade curriculum. Thank you!
This was by far the best tutorial I've seen. You explained everything plainly and succinctly. Most tutorials seem like they're just babbling to people who already understand the software

I have a problem remembering and understanding lots of instructions - but this video by far was easiest to remember and learn. amazing video♥️
This tutorial is great. I was using Krita with basic understanding at this but having it lay down like that will make my future projects much easier. Thank you for this.

I've watched many of explanation videos over the years as I forget how to do man of the functions in Krita. This is simply the best and straightforward explanation and demonstration of how these functions work. Great job!
I’m on my ‘daunting’ journey of transitioning from traditional to digital art. I’ve gotten lost in YT trying to find a video that explains this that’s digestible for me and my smooth 🧠 and randomly this video was in my feed, which is by far the best I’ve found. So THANX! If U have more vids explaining more of Krita, I’m sure I’ll be back.
Excellent video! I've been searching for clipping mask tutorials for Krita but haven't been able to find any that made sense, so thank you for making this so easy to understand!
Thank you so much for the Clipping mask tutorial! It was quick, straightforward, and easy to understand. I am coming from SAI and CSP. I was more used to how those programs did their clipping, but now I don't feel like I need to use CSP as much. I read the Krita manual, but I'm more of a visual learner... So videos like this mean a lot to me! Just still learning how to animate in Krita, since I'm using CSP for that right now. Anyway, I'm so grateful for open source and it's cool to see more artists using it! :^D
Thank you so much for the turtorial!! It's quick and easy to learn for beginners using Krita. You are very good at teaching. Great job!
Thanks for laying out the info in an easy to digest manner. Couldn't understand half of what other videos on this subject were even talking about

You have explained it very well. Thanks for that.
OMG, so happy I found your tutorial! Thanks to you I finally understood it! Big, big thank you!
This video literally helped me instantly; the second I finished the video, I got how to work with layers and finished my first piece with Krita to get me out of the rut I was in. Finishing the coloring took me an hour
Straight to the point, well-structured, with clear examples. This is a good tutorial, I like it.
This is the best and most concise explanation. Thanks!
This is really good instruction. I needed to slow the video down so I could keep up, but it is great thanks!
I'm new to Krita. You explained very clearly. Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial! I've needed to know how to do clipping masks for years now and nothing else explained it in a way I could understand (because my brain is very small and smooth) Now I can stop going through the painful process of erasing every pixel over the lines
This is a perfect video. I am brand new to digital art and you explained it so naturally. You can tell that you know your stuff. Thank you
So glad this got recommended to me. You explaning and examples provided are very easy to understand. Thank you!
Why did You stop making videos, this one is very very good, short, compact and on point with content, easy description, easy comparisons and analogy. Also there is demand for that stuff Sir. Please continue don't give up, monetize this channel and go make some noise!
