Kim, it's so true that clinging to God produces course correction and sensitivity to His Spirit. When Abigail spoke God's words to David, even though David was determined to avenge himself, God's truth stopped him cold in his tracks. He could not continue in his own way. Even in front of all his men, he humbled himself and turned back from evil. God's Spirit was that powerful! Like you said, God's Spirit course corrected David before he took innocent lives! Wow! David would have been a murderer. What profound security clinging to God brings. Last year, I taught a study called "What happened to David" (I won't talk in too much detail because we are headed to study 2nd Samuel....right??? :) But I noticed that before David made the worst mistake of his life, there is no record of him praying for three chapters, then bam, he trips! As long as he was pursuing God, clinging to God, God had access to David's heart to course correct, but when he wasn't...my my my... Lord Jesus, may we always cling closer to You and give You access to course correct our lives. Thank you again Kim, for an excellent study!

"Even in front of all his men, he humbled himself...." Great point! After you tell everybody, "Gird on your swords!" and go on a manhunt, it's hard to humble yourself and say, "Um, never mind, I was wrong." But he KNEW that was God speaking to him through Abigail. Praise God that he had that kind of regard for the will of God. YES, we are headed to 2nd Samuel and we know there will be much to explore about King David. I focused on what you're talking about in the Cling book (the chapter on disobedience). My my my indeed.... Always so thankful for your insights, sis!

David had got into his flesh with anger, but God blocked it through Abigail. Nabal should have known he couldn't go against God for Abigail his wife knew that David was called by God. A fool is what he was and he realize that after his wife spoke to him the next day. Lord help me not to go against your will, but make me obedient and always cling to you. Great study sis. XOXO

Abigail surely did know that David was called by God. And I mean she KNEW. :) Love your prayer, sis, and praying the same! Amen!

How I enjoy hearing you teaching us the word of God. How you explain in detail the Scripture of 1 Samuels where we could understand the way our Lord works in mysterious ways, if I would have read it by myself perhaps not too sure I would of Underwood the purpose of Abigail. 👍❤⚘👐

What a praise unto God, Irma. His grace amazes me, and I'm so thankful that the teaching resonates with you. And yes, more than anything, it's my prayer that we grow in understanding the Lord and His ways! Blessings to you, dear sister.

    1) The response Nabal gives in verse 10 reminds me of a leader today, asking a question which needs no answer. I love how the young man explains the situation to Abigail. 2) The one who has a heart for grace and respect, what a humble sister. Wow, David knows this assist from Abigail could only be God. I love love love it, 3) I want to cling like David and Abigail, I want my beliefs to work no matter what life throws at me. 4) I want to feel so sure of Gods presence that I can walk like Abigail she blew me away. 5) (clinging helps me course correct-Kim that is a good word) 5 months plus thank you for the journey

"I want to feel so sure of God's presence that I can walk like Abigail..." Right! SO confident in the Lord in what she needed to do. Unafraid, yet humble She blew me away too! I love love love that David knew that was God too. HE was blown away by Abigail! Also love that he knew he had to make that good woman his wife.
