12:00 You should still get the extra attack when heroically intervening. "Charge bonus" is a defined term (pg 29) about gaining fight first due to making a charge move. Since the detachment rule is entirely separate it is not removed when heroically intervening

Was gonna say this. The extra attack comes from the charge MOVE not the charge bonus (fights first). This ruling is not new, i.e. world eaters have this interaction constantly with their detachment rule.

The bottom dot point in the Rules Commentary section for charging also says that other bonuses for charging aren't "the charge bonus" just to confirm this.

Don’t sleep on the Outlander Claw! The OC on must have ridgerunners, bikes that sticky, and Rockgrinders that you can’t escape from and just out OC you. :)

I think xenocreed might be one of the better swarms options in 40k because it dodged the nerf to the neverending swarm strats that hit other armies. Since GSC gets units back via cult ambush not strats.

I haven't played since the codex came out but Xenocreed is the first detachment I want to use as well. What do y'all think of DS YOLOing with iconwards or magi in order to mark the most dangerous enemy units with Vengeance for the Martyr!? Might reduce the need to max out Primus slots.

TLDR: the current Dex/points are basically unplayable competitively

I have 4 games so far with the codex, 3 with biosantic broodsurge, 1 with the xenocreed congregation. Just picked up the biosantic broodsurge box today and am putting it together, so far im in love with the detachment

for the cartographic dataleech enhancement, you can put it onto a solo character like a sabo or sanctus or something, and have them take up one of the 12 slots in the truck it all goes to the same unit (the truck) so you can then battlebus across the board and still get the +1 bonus elsewhere after disembarking the og squad

Xenocreed is Goated with the sauce, its the only detachment where i can plan on my units coming back.

I have put a locus with 10 melee acolyte in all my xenocreed lists. Rapid ingress + heroic with fight first is nasty.

Loved hearing your thoughts on the codex! Cant wait to get my rubber (claws) on the table with the outrider.

I would mention that "charge bonus" is pretty misleading wording, as it specifically means the fight first ability that you get when you charge. If you heroically intervene, you don't get the "charge bonus", AKA fights first, but you actually do get all of the other abilities that you would get when making a charge move. So biosanctic broodsurge abilities would still happen!

Yep! I had misread the wording in the commentary and basically misread "not prevented" as "not allowed"

I have been running the "Bandit Bus". 1x Rock Grinder 3x Kelemorph. Previously this performed drive by assassinations on characters in units before those units go face checked by the Drilldozer. Lots of success. Now it's an opportunity to yell YEEHAW! and roll lots of dice. I still rate it for this benefit and will of course be running the Mad Max detachment.

This codex was a tragedy. But we have hope. GW CAN fix it, and we know that because they fixed Admech. Also WTF are the points cost for the benefictus. 80 POINTS!?

I really wish they had left 25% brood brothers in other detachments. I don't really want to play half guard, I just want my one converted sentinel and maybe cool tank to be legal. Also, I really, really want Deathstrike in my GSC

oh, yeah. I missed the "Extra rules are NOT considered part of the Charge Bonus". So you do get the bonus attack

Mechanicus Brood Brothers, Day of Ascension (the book) style would be cool. Just throwing ideas out there, and Yes, Ive heard of the bladed cog. Love Cults and Cogs. Ooo, we need a GSC detachment that has more alieny options too, not sure how tho, maybe they coulr use rippers or can deep strike Real tyranids on turn 3, idk. Or just more models, lol.

I would have loved a more tyranid-y detachment. Sons of Jormungandr is the perfect already canon example, but they aren't even a small blurb in the current codex right now.

Bio-horror revelation is an extremely weak defensive strat, but it is not a bad battleshock strat because RAW they take the battleshock test at -1 when selected to shoot regardless of where they shoot. Maybe one day your enemy not using a strat or having no oc when they charge will be a game changer.

Played a 1000pt game with xenocreed against world eaters today. Metamorphs became so fun. I stuck them in a truck with an acolyte iconward, so you can scout with them. They absolutely wreck everything.

My last game was 2 months ago with the index rules. I did get 2 cult ambush from 6-7 rolls (i lost badly at the end...). Cult ambush is a great lore rule, but its needs some changes. I started GSC with the previous codex, because that codex was great! This new one is very strange in the bad way. It wants us to build for moments what never will happen. Great video, cant wait for the next :) Maybe an army suggestion video for different cults for 1000, 1500, 2000 points? :)

I think the growing struggle is GSC has such a variety of themes built into it, which I think all have some credence but it is to specific on segments of the army with little intermingling. But rather than encouraging more mixed tactics, or diversifying the range of units they keep giving us characters. It doesn't help that as a horde-ish army, a lot of the detachments focus on non-battleline, but we don't have enough units that adding units to battleline makes sense. Still I like a lot of the concepts that are here, but the detachments need to get more generic for the army that exists, not the one in theory. I also just wish there were some more mixed arms, a lot of the detachments favor melee almost completely and few involve ranged benefits, or better yet, mixed ranged and melee units. Xenocreed is by far my favorite and fills me with the fervent, endless horde feel that I love of GSC.

1:00:09 Two counterpoints 1. Even at 35pts, youre only taking Skitarii Marshals as enhancement engines in Skitarii Hunter Cohort, or maybe a Dunerider combo for reroll hits and wounds elsewhere. 2. Unlike Neophytes, Skitarii Rangers and Vanguard are locked to 10 models (and are somewhat weak, even with the recent army rule buffs) and their special weapons from what i understand are overall worse than GSCs.

I guess I’m lucky that me and my friend that I usually play 40K with prefer 1000-1500 pt games (first because of model restrictions and now because we got used to the amount of models and higher point costs overwhelm us just a bit) But I’m still a bit sad at the codex, even if I think I prefer it to the index. I didn’t like our army rule from the start and it only seems to dive deeper into its own problems the longer it stays. Oh well, don’t want to be too negative, the cult has some melee shenanigans back and I’m gonna try it for the first time tomorrow, hope it works out!

Biosantic brood surge does their bonuses even on things like heroic intervention. "Charge bonus" is specifically only fights first. See rules commentary page 17. Also I *think* that the ben bus is actually worse than it sounds, as Hazardous has been changed to say it must be allocated to a model with hazardous first and hazardous always does 3MW and ben only has 3W.

yeah I read the rules commentary the wrong way as I didn't think they would add clarification to say a rule still worked. The Ben Bus works with hazardous and firing deck - as the truck fired, the truck takes the hazardous tests

I have my first game with the codex today. Playing Host of Ascension today with 4 Ridgerunners, 2x10 MW acolytes, 3x20 neophytes babysat by 2 Primus and Benefictus (one with ACITA and one with AI), 10 stealers with Patriarch with OTIN). Going to see how it all feels. Thank you for your effort and thoughts. I look forward to watching your videos.

This codex utterly shattered my enthusiasm for GSC. 😢 They got so thoroughly shat on that there's no possible way the same people that wrote the Sisters codex wrote ours.

What if they eventually made a Biophagus or Magus on a bike for another character option for Jackels? just a thought.

The detachment ability is crap but I’m liking the option to grab a large amount of Strength 12 firepower that hits better than on a 5+ BS which the cult is severely lacking now.

see if you can get the old Combat Patrol anywhere, it is a long shot but for the price was really good value for the core. If you get the current combat patrol a cult truck is useful to make the whole force fast.

I’m just starting GSC and have a couple of questions. Xenocreed detachment can the metamorphs move if they take damage be stacked with the path of anguish strat to double up that move? Can a unit with a banner roll to bring models back if it’s in reserves? Great channel! Really helpful in starting the army

Path of Anguish specifies only Acolytes or Neophytes so it won't work on metamorphs You do still activate unit abilities while in reserve (p26 rules commentary) Thanks for the comment

Of all the hoops in this book, the Starfall Shells enhancement in Claw takes the cake: no no, it can't just say "cult sniper rifle" of which you only have two in your army. It doesn't say "only Alphus" because that would be too easy. No, it has to restrict you from using Starfall Shells with your Sanctus because that would obviously break the game. It's just 💯 petulantly punitive. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If someone deepstrikes on our tokens they dont get removed???? Where does it say that?
