I played 40K back in high school as a Dark Angels player, but when I got back into it as an adult it was because Genestealer Cult was cool.

I'll never even consider playing GSC, I just came to watch more of your content

try and convert as many of the acolytes as you can to have mining weapons and demo charges. I would also try and make one look like an aberrant so you have a unit of 5

Jesus, finally someone putting Saboteurs and Ridgerunner in proper places. I have eye-rolling reaction each time "experienced players" treat those like an air since 2 editions, despite them being absurdly strong and niche filling units in our codex.

Go for it! Goofy play is a fun! I am still taking metamorphs (sometimes)

Dont under estimate that gun slinger ability on the kelemorph. Usually what I do is Acolyte bomb the enemies back line turn 2 and also bring in the kelemorph right next to them. Typically he might snipe a character buffing the unit (think necrons or characters affecting wound rolls and giving FNPs) then the acolytes delete that unit usually with one or two stragglers. Who shoot back at the acolytes and then die to the shoot back from the kelemorph. This also auto scores Behind enemy lines of the enemy did a good job of screening That’s sustained hits D3 isn’t to be over looked either, my kelemorph once killed a full health armiger by himself.

Keler is an A tier for fixed secondaries comp play. a few of us have been running him and been winning pretty hard because of keler being able to just behind and homers. Reason we bring bc sabo is already maxed rule of 3.

but why choose Kellermorph over the cheaper Sanctus with the same profile? Is it just to pop up with other units?

You sometimes mention something works for 1000pts but not 2000, would you consider making a vid elaborating on that? Maybe include a starter 1000 point list for beginners too? Cheers, love your work!

I did it quite a bit for the Brood Brothers video, like Cadians good at 1k, not at 2k. I expect that before xmas I will do a video on where to start with GSC including a 1k starter list

I'm very new here, great video thanks! Quick question though, at 4:10 you say Acolytes have 4 demo charges per squad of 10 - I'm trying to figure out how that works, my battlescribe only allows 2 heavy units per 10 and they seem to only have one per? Thanks in advance!

Your accent makes it sound like you might be in the same corner of England as me. I'd suggest meeting up for a game but I don't know how I'd feel playing against a 2d animated character. Who framed roger rabbit freaked me out as a kid so I'm not sure my mind could take it

one thing you don't mention that while i don't think justifies the kelemorph it is an interesting niche that he has for objective play is because he can deep strike at 3" you can send for example acolytes to kill and him to do a secondary like deploy homers or him+ acolytes for behind enemy lines. IMO this only became a niche after the nexos changes since we cant spam the 3" strat

I'm curious, @7:52 you say they get Demo charges again since they're a whole new unit. Has this been confirmed? I've read online (sorry I did not retain the source) that it does NOT give you the "One-Shot" ability again since it's a returning squad. What prompted my search was having it come up in a battle at a GW store. The entire store agreed that I could not use the One-shot again after returning.

GW has never said 'regarding acolytes, when destroyed they return with democharges' but the cult ambush rule has been updated and says the unit counts as destroyed and you get a brand new unit. So we are pretty sure that it works like that - new unit is the only way to get the democharges back

@@ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber I appreciate the response! I'd hoped you had a definitive source. Please don't misunderstand, I 100% agree with you. I'd tried to play it as a whole new unit but was told I couldn't as it was a "returning squad". The justification that was used against me was that if I failed the Cult Ambush roll the squad didn't "come back" so therefore it's the same squad.

well as long as they local group will also rule that way for things like Imperial Guard sentinels using reinforcements not getting hunter-killer missiles back but "On a 5+, add a new unit to your army identical to your destroyed unit, in Cult Ambush" - Cult Ambush rule (September 2023) seems as definitive as you can get

Hey, i have a question about the Genestealers Cult Ambush rules... Lets say i have x10 Purestrain Genestealers + Patriarch, and i get into a fight and all my Genestealers die but the Patriarch survives, i know the Patriarch wont come back with their rules if the entire unit gets wiped out, but my question is do i roll a dice to see if the Genestealers come back right there?, or should i wait until the Patriarch dies to roll the dice and see if the bodyguard unit comes back?

You roll - once they’re no longer actually joined they become separate units

@@ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber me and a friend are in the beginnings of a long story we are makeing with my tiamat splinter fleet I suggested that we use them in tandom with my army by only until a later turn where I would have to roll for synapse control if I lose then they turn and are useable by my opponent to attack the army ,,,,thought it would be awesome

I believe it could be and since you can scout and zoom out their tyranid scouts it could work. I would pick the flamer on the quad bike.

It's a shame the genestealers are so low. I love running them but battleline really does seem to be the optimal way at the moment. Even my abbarants are hard to justify at the moment. both my favourite units.

Yeah, it’s rough for melee units in this detachment. There are some nice enhancements for them but the detachment rule is useless and the only decent stratagem for them is worse in short range. Abberants seem to have gotten lost on their way to the Custodes index so at least they won’t die round 1.

One thing that bothers the hell out of me. Look at imperial gaurd primaris psycher. Cheaper, with WAY more abilities and, they have an offensive psychic attack that is as rewarding as it is dangerous to the caster. Where the hell is the patriarchs mental onslought power at that could force crush an imperial knight. Where are the powers, that makes a being in lore capable of telepathically controlling a whole world, at? If they simply do more for the codex this edition and make it so you can actually buff the heros ill be happy but damn man. The last book of 9th with the coolest cover art (and i got the silver edition codex along with 2 more origionals) gone to waste with all that cool ass abilities and strats. Just trashed immediatly

I really want to bring my Patriarch with and his squad of Genestealers...
