So refreshing to see realistic bagua and xingyi training implementation. Its true power seems to be hidden within those slow moving kata's that everyone is dishing out. Great work.

This guy's come a long way since Dirty Dancing. Seriously though, really cool stuff. Just moved up to the "level 2" stuff in the Internal Arts program at my school. Bagua was the first thing we looked at last night... I have a lot to learn. Thanks for the video!

We are using Clear's Bagua. Sigung Clear learned from many Bagua masters who practiced many styles. He has distilled all of the training he received into a streamlined system that allows for rapid progress. He stripped out all of the flowery movement and focused on the practical fighting skills, which allows our students to be fully fighting ready in 1-2 years (assuming they are committed to the training).

Was taught this exercise before, but not with such detail to body movement, and no application.

Pardon me, but you don't actually teach this. I can see folks doing tea cups with some sort of alternating motion shifting weight back and forth. In order to learn this, I would need it broken down. "First this, then that. Notice that the weight shifts this way as the arms go that way." I know tea cups, but the coordination between upper and lower body in your video eludes me. Otherwise this is like someone who has never played basketball watching people play basketball. They might pick it up, they might not. Thanks for sharing though :)

+Page Eric Hi Eric, thanks for watching. The timing of the shift is taught from 5:50 to 7:32 However, this lesson is designed to stress the parts of the exercise that are most crucial to success and deal with the problems most beginners have. Most folks get caught up in the shifting and minutia of the palm movement. However, if the leg part and the body shape are not correct, everything else is a wast of time. So, focus on the leg part at the beginning of the video and make sure to review the leg corrections at 4:25. Then practice the hand movement shown at 1:48. Make sure you have those down before you spend much time on the latter part from 5:50 on. Also keep in mind that the timing can change depending on the context. The leg and body position must be correct. Because it is a video, you can always play it back to see exactly how everything syncs up. If you are still having trouble, we have a DVD available with all 12 of our Bagua exercises taught on it and includes a follow-along version. You can find it here: www.clearsilat.com/silat-dvd/clears-silat-phase-1/ba-gua-exercises

Lol, those are sneakers! You may want to lay off the "herbal refreshments," especially if you plan to practice a lethal martial art...
