Thank you, I'm glad you got a lot out of it. Circle walking can certainly be a great meditation practice. However, in our system it's primarily a martial training tool. There is a ton of application, fighting methods and principles contained withing circle walking. Part of our full Bagua curriculum is an in depth study of how circle walking applies directly to self defense.
I owe you a great deal - I think I'm finally ready to learn the Single Change and the Double Change. I don't feel too badly about it - Confucius was 70 before he felt qualified to study the I Ching. I've been studying for 50 years but I now realise that there is only the Single Change and the Double Change. Thank you...
Amazing stuff Sifu Clear! Mindless circle walking now takes on a very meaningful real life application. Guess it's never an art that is "vague" - it's the teacher who can make it come alive.
Until seeing your demonstration, I've been using bagua circle walking primarily as a meditation. I learn so much from your teaching methods.
Magnificent! I just wish you were in my part of the world.... This is my 48th year of Ba Gua and I'm not at all sure I've mastered it like you. Ah, well. Such is life!
Good footwork is indeed important. Body position as well. Great way to slip punches and get control of the situation. Great demonstration.
Great techniques Sigung.
Very well done explanation and video, sir. One thing I feel the need to stress when teaching any kind of Single Palm or Palm changeover is the flexibility of the hips. Being able to freely move your upper body while still keeping your feet while still moving in the circular motion, and without saying it you displayed that very well.

Thank you, Glad you enjoyed the lesson. The full video gets into some explicit instruction on keeping the feet moving with that waist turn and flexibility but there's only so much we could fit into a 10min clip.
great teacher!
Not taking any “kudos” away from Sigung Clear, but some of the commenters have got to be kidding me!🙀🤔🤦🏻♂️How can practice anything for 50yrs or so, or even a year without understanding it or being able to implement devastating moves on opponents or feel the internal power of Bagua? 🙄🙈🤡’s I’ve been studying Bagua for since last year, three months at a time only 1day a week and was able to feel the energy of and implement the most effective and devastating move generally described as gathering or “Hide Flower Under Leaf” within a few classes! Then once I understood dragon extends it’s claws, or whatever is called the most popular opening one hand extended out, the other close to the elbow of the extended arm and torso twisted to that side while circling I was able to improvise my own applications out of them! Maybe Bagua is the only internal martial art you’ve studied, and that’s why it may take soo long for someone to get an epiphany? Whatever the case, anyone who cannot understand how to apply moves of any style of martial art within days of being shown it’s base application should look into another style or give it up altogether! You don’t need to spend years or a lifetime to implement moves, or the “internal” aspect of martial arts to be effective in it rather quickly, but it does and should sometimes take extremely long to master! And even masters can always improve their art, but my point is nothing you do in life should take a lifetime for you to benefit from, or understand if don’t wish to live a lifetime of wanting and or regret.🤷🏻♂️🐌🤦🏻♂️🤔
As usual, he delivers! Great video. I have seen one other app vid freely available on here that touches on the true nature of the stepping and he is kunlun, lol. Respect from Kentucky.

Well done!
Sifu Clear, is it truly practical to take three steps during the time it takes your opponent to punch, as at 2:15? It seems to me like that would take some rather rapid footwork to accomplish.
NICE BREAKDOWN. I AGREE.
Excellent stuff but this is just an intermediate stage. The Ultimate? "These are not the droids you're looking for". This tends to take much more time and effort....
At the end of the day, there is only the Single Change - everything else is just a variation. It takes a little time, perhaps two or three decades, to realise this...
Very cool. Ive only seen a couple of teachers ever break this down into something that can work against legit strikes. Waaaayyy too much chi talk at most schools and then these practical things are lost.
"Every inch of Ba Gua contains a technique" - old classic...
