Cleaning Your Bunny ~ Bunny Bath
Hi bunny gang! Don’t worry we’re not giving our bunny a traditional bath! Sometimes sick or rescue bunnies need help with cleaning. If a warm washcloth or baby wipes fail & you need something more, this video will help you! I’m washing Dutchy & showing you a safe way to clean your bunny if they are really dirty or stinky. Even though this is a safer method, washing your bunny should only be done in extreme circumstances like Dutchy’s. Comment below if this video helped you clean your bunny!

    I have recived multiple comments about my bunny screaming or screeching. Just to let everyone know Duchy is not making any noises in this video. I have never heard a bunny scream in person. The sound you hear is my birds. My bunnies & birds share a room. I have 5 cockatiels. I would never recommend doing something to your bunny that is dangerous. I give many warnings & discuss the risk of hypothermia in this video. Thank you! 🐰❤️

    Unicorn for Kyleigh love Girl world I do watch Lennon the bunny. If you have seen her tick toc review video she does talk about butt baths and that they are sometimes necessary. I have a rabbit rescue & this bunny was sick. if you watched the video you would see that I discuss risk of hypothermia from fully submerging your rabbit in water. A butt bath is safe when done correctly and only when necessary. This is all addressed in the video and description.

    rabbit care yeah, that’s the best method to try 1st. Dutchy had really smelly diarrhea all over his butt & feet because of being sick. It was so bad at one point he couldn’t poop because it was so dried onto his bottom. He had to have a butt bath. I only recommend this in those situations where a wet cloth is not enough because any type of bath can be stressful for a bunny. But in some situations it’s necessary. Thank you for watching! 😁🐰❤️

I'd love to get your advice since I've found myself in the same situation and no vids here on it 😓 I've come to understand my bunny has paresis, not paralysis (she can barely move her hind legs, so not totally paralyzed). My questions: -When did you know it's safe enough to give your bunny a butt bath? -How could you tell he wasn't in pain when you held him for that first bath? -How many times did you have to butt bathe him? Because so far I'm think I may have to bathe mine every evening 🤔 -Lastly, how is life with your bunny now and did you Diy anything to help him become mobile on his own?

  • @bunaynayslay

    @bunaynayslay

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@caloo2010 I'm sorry to hear! The first step you should take it consulting a proper rabbit vet, they should give you pain killers and critical care. It's a powder formula of concentrated vitamins your rabbit needs incase they aren't eating enough hay. You can get it on Amazon. Buns usually love it. Syringes too incase you need to force-feed water or critical care. Always offer them their right amount of salad/fresh greens rinsed with water, that way they get extra hydration. 1. If they are completely incontinent you need to invest in reusable bunny diapers OR baby diapers (you'll need to do some cutting on the left and right side for their legs to not get irritated) as well as washable pee pads. Saves a lot of time water and towels. You don't really "know" for sure when its the right time, you just have to read their body language. Always support their spine and rear, If they fidget or make noise when picking up one way then slowly put them down, let them readjust, and try picking them up the way they laid. If they are being particularly stubborn or in pain use unscented plain baby wipes to at least get some of the urine or poop out. 2. I could tell he wasn't in pain as his body was relaxed and his eyelids softened vs. being extremely scared and alert. Please don't worry if your bunny hates the water, try to have the butt bath warm and prepared before you pick bun up. We would use the sink after awhile and he enjoyed it, I assume it helped him feel really clean and good on his nerves. 3. He would be bathed every other day or every day if it was particularly bad. Bunny urine is extremely acidic and you cant let it stay on his fur. It will cause the fur to fall off and produce urine scald. There are topical creams you can put on for this but always try to keep their privates, tummy, and legs clean. Even if that means multiple baths a day. 3. Sadly he passed away due to different complications but he was an amazing bun. During butt baths when he got more comfortable we would GENTLY massage his thighs working our way down to his toes and back up, he started doing his own baby kicks eventually so I think that really helped. When they're secure (and if they let you) gently pull their leg out and then retract it over and over. Small exercises like that help with bloodflow. He definitely did improve from being completely paralyzed, some buns make a full recovery some don't. Sometimes it's completely physical sometimes it's psychological. I know bunny carts exist for disable buns, otherwise just make sure their space is clean, access to fresh water and hay at all times, some toys that can hang off the wall or hay chew toys they can eat. Pillows and small plushies are nice too, they can help keep the bunny propped up and let them rest easier. Make sure the enclosure is kind of small-medium, they just need a lot of enrichment and love. And please don't be too hard on yourself if you feel something went wrong or you slipped up along the way. It is human to make mistakes and your bunny will forgive you. They are thankful you chose to care for them when this happened. If I missed anything or you have any concerns feel free to ping me!

    Brian Luckus awe, poor bunny. Can you keep her? If so try to catch her. Lennon the bunny does have a video on tips for catching a domestic release bunny. Clean her up & get her to the vet if possible unless your knowledgeable enough to look her over yourself. I have a video on bunny illnesses to help you identify if she is sick and if so with what. If you have other bunnies do not let them interact. Must quarantine for 14 days & check for illness or mites. If not try to contact your local shelter or rescue to see if they can assist or take the bunny in.

    “And it’s Easter” this shouldn’t be a reason for keeping a bunny. Thousands of rabbits are abandoned every year because they are only bought for Easter then abandoned on the street. This is why many pet stores don’t sell rabbits during Easter season anymore, hopefully you still have yours and didn’t throw it out because Easter passed.

    I’ll preface this by saying I’ve had rabbits my whole life. The rabbit I have now I raised from babyhood, and loves baths and the water. She’s 7.5 years old and is beginning to show her elderly stage, has dealt with fleas for a few months over the summer, and is sooo grateful for the relief of the lukewarm water and the pressure of the shower faucet brings. She leans into it and just sits and basks in the shallow pool I create for her in the tub. It has been a slow ride to getting her comfortable with the running water, etc. We have lived all over the place- city apartments, and 27 acres of free roaming land. Earning the trust of a prey animals is the first step. Knowing their temperament is another! If you can’t grasp that, don’t bank on ever having an easy time with handling or cleaning, etc. My previous bunnies as a child would even jump on the trampoline and ride down the slide on their own with me. Taking extra precautions and learning to read their body language and unique bunny communication is key. There are pet owners, and then there are pet whisperers. In the western world the culture is to tend to overly baby our pets and it blocks them from experiencing freedom and the opportunity for actual bonding. Try to get into the mind of a prey animal and see they simply require an added layer of trust, protection and safety in their worlds in order to open up. Once you breach that barrier, they are just like any other animal! So long as they can access and return to their home base, and trust you, they are far more capable, explorative and daring than we give them credit.

    I really need advice! I commented down below that my bunny had a humungous ball of matted fur that took about five hours of soaking in the tub, in and out over a day and a half and I was so happy once I finally got it out only to check his bum a couple days later to find it started again and was about half the size of the previous one! It was attached to his testes and I’m sure it was incredibly uncomfortable for him if not painful. I had to soak him in the bath again but this time only for a few minutes to get it out. It seems to be a lot of fur and really smelly half formed poop pellets that harden and attach to his underside. I wouldn’t call it diarrhea because he’s still pooping full pellets as well as half pellets that are getting stuck to him. So he still passing stool in his litter. Is this a problem with his diet? Is it because he is shedding? He’s just a short haired Rex bunny but he is shedding quite a bit right now as it’s turning to winter. There are no vets in my area and the burrito wrap did not work. I want the bath to be the last resort but he’s never been fond of being held or picked up. Only once in a while will he let me hold him so trying to get him wrapped and put into a position where I can try to remove the problem only causes him to freak out and scratch me and I fear it will cause injury to both of us but mostly concerned it will injure him! In the bath, he is much more calm. I’d rather this just not happen but I don’t know what’s causing it. I can’t get my clippers anywhere’s near his bottom to shave and this has never been an issue before! I’m not talking about small amounts of poop, I’m talking about very very very large amounts. I’m wondering if it’s because he is now six years old? I just want to help him! I want to know what’s wrong and fix it! I hate seeing him in pain! I cleaned his bottom yesterday and already today there are a few pallets stuck to him so I know it’s going to start again

    Je suis tout à fait d'accords avec vous Tyffany's Bunny Gang 👍😊. Un lapin ne devrait jamais être lavé car, il est tout à fait capable de le faire lui même. Mais dans certain cas, comme ceux que vous siter dans votre commentaire écrit, il faut lui venir en aide pour préserver sa santé. Si le nettoyage avec un gant ne suffit pas, un bain peut-être nécessaire, mais comme vous le montrez si bien, ce bain ne doit pas être intégral et doit être donné avec douceur et délicatesse pour effectivement ne pas stresser le lapin, comme vous l'avez si bien fait. Merci pour cette intéressante et édifiante vidéo. Ce que vous avez fait pour Dutchy est très bien 👍👩💕🐰. Est-ce que l'on vous a déjà dit que Dutchy ressembler à Pipkin de la chaine OneMorePlease ? Bonne journée Pâsquale.

    You should use the baby Johnson shampoo it’s better because it doesn’t have anything that harms bunnies unlike the other soaps like cat and dog soaps which can harm them, your soap can harm bunnies, but don’t be too alarmed since you still change it and since you don’t fully gather them, you don’t fully expose them to soap, still would switch to baby Johnson though

    Chase Trans this is not correct! Bunnies can have butt baths if done properly like shown in the video. Please watch the video & read the description before you make a comment & spread false information. In the video I discuss risk involved with submerging your bunny in water & how to avoid these risk. Also I suggest other alternatives first. Healthy bunnies clean themselves but there are situations when a butt bath is necessary. Do your research.

    Steven Lowrey a butt bath is not harmful to a bunny & if you watched the video you would see that I have a rabbit rescue and this bunny was sick. I am teaching people how to safely & properly clean their bunny instead of Submerging them in water. I give warnings throughout the video and discuss proper technique and how to prevent risk like hypothermia. Please do your research before spreading false information & watch the video before making an accusation that is clearly wrong! Thank you!

    @Frosty’s World thank you for you support & comment. It’s important that people understand that bunnies can get wet without health risk if done properly by not submerged in water & drying them thoroughly. When you need to wash your bunny with a gentle soap a spray bottle would not be sufficient to remove all of the soap. I don’t suggest this unless other methods of cleaning your bunny will not be enough. Wipes or a wet cloth are good options but are not always enough. There are situations where a butt bath is the best option & this is why I made this video. 🙂🐰❤️ thanks again for watching our channel 😘
