Putting off cleaning your Glowforge? I'll make it easy for you! We'll go step by step so you can confidently give your machine the deep clean it needs.
It has recently been pointed out to me that there is an alternative way to get the head off of the belt, by loosening the right wheel. I was not aware of this method when creating this video.
You can watch Terry's video describing how to do that here:

Do not force the belt back on like this! 10:43 I just followed these directions and my pulley wheel shattered. You have to release the tension first. The wheel costs $8 plus $25 shipping to replace, and it will take a week to arrive 😭

Hi Marie - I’m sorry you had an issue with your wheel. I don’t suggest to force the belt on, I use the wheel to roll it into place and it goes on very easily using the motion of the wheel to turn it into place.

@@ThingsKatieMakes At 2:57 your wheel came off, and 1 pause and reset later it was back on. That is deceptive. This is also the reason you should always unscrew the right wheel and screw it back on, not slid the belt off the wheel. Yes, Glowforge says to do it this way, but Glowforge also sells wheels when you break them.

@@LithosAndLasers Hi Terry - while I did not intend for the edit of the wheel coming off to be deceptive, I understand your point. I was not aware you could remove the right wheel, so thanks for pointing that out. I see you have a video describing it, which I have added to the description here.

@@ThingsKatieMakes No worries. Sliding the belt off is more likely to break the wheel, so seeing the edit just felt like."What if that happened to a viewer, how do you resolve it?" I see you have a Thunder now. I also have been using my 100 Watt large bed laser since Oct 2021 and LOVE it. I have not even turned on the glowforge since December. BUT, I have alot more tutorials I want to make for that, before selling it. (And tutorials for the larger laser, and sublimation tutorials... Work and side hustle just leave little time for video making :) No hate here for people trying to help :)

@@LithosAndLasers Looking forward to more videos from you! And I noted your video in the description so people can learn the alternative method!
