Cleaning my Glowforge and an Overview of my Inline Fan Setup

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

8/19/21 Edit - I NO LONGER recommend using only the electronics spray for the assist fan. Please take it off and clean it. ‪@LadyCrockettCrafts‬ has an excellent video on the process.
It's time for a moderate cleaning of my machine. In this video, I will show you how to semi-deep keep my Glowforge without taking it apart. Cleaning your machine ensures it's running well, and makes deep cleaning easier. Cleaning items and my inline fan setup is linked below

What water/vinegar solution mixture do you use? I need to really clean mine.

I just try to do one part vinegar to two parts water. Something relatively gentle.

Can you clean the crumb tray with soap and water ( with scrub brush) and spray with a shower head?

You could but some people have reported that it either gets rusty or really gross dried sawdust residue on it. I've heard the best results are with a power washer.

They go on either side of the inline fan. The hoses are 4 inches, while the fan is 6 inches. We attach those so the hoses will fit onto it.

You really should take the carriage plate off to properly clean that fan in the back. Just spraying it like that is not good,, it needs to be wiped down and cleaned not just sprayed and let to drip dry. Also using a maxi pad to get under the tube works great!

How often should you clean your machine?

  • @LisaPottsDesigns

Depends on frequency of use. I try to quickly clean mine every two weeks, and a deep clean every quarter. Since this video, I've switched from the electronics cleaner to actually removing my inline fan.

This sounds like the machine is just working a lot and not cooling well. Have you cleaned the assist fan in the back?
