I’m late to the party, but I’ve been an Opeth fan for 15 years. I learned this song on piano and played it as my senior solo in hs. So glad you liked it!!

It's always great when I see someone understand just how soulful Mikael's solos are. I love how even when the song slaps you in the face with a sudden change, almost immediately you feel how this new sound fits in to the overall context of the piece. The use of dissonant intervals, downward movement, and slow deliberate drums definitely gives that riff a really heavy feel.

So weird how so many people go to auto evil/despair on that outro. Been a fan for years. Never got that. Makes me feel empowered personally but to each their own.

@@PJAlphaMusic Way different, I'd say. They have added more prog elements and removed the harsh vocals all together.

🔥🔥❤Opeth❤🔥🔥 I don't understand chords or those things, so I wouldn't know what to suggest as far as that goes. I do know Opeth is music to the ears though, so: Hessian Peel Harvest Coil/Heir Apparent Benighted and the list goes on...😁
