It's not like it's very easy to impress me or something, I heard all sorts of metal but 15 years later I still think that the section from 6:09, especially 6:15-6:19 just hits different. It's just great, it's not super technical, but it hits every fucking damn time. Actually the whole track is amongst Opeth's best for sure, mainly thanks to Lopez.

This is one of those Opeth tracks where they deliberately induce an undercurrent of discomfort by keeping you guessing. You never quite know when the transitions are coming, or what they will transition to. The drum patterns have an unpredictable punctuation. And even the doom-laden outro riff doesn't resolve in a way the listener might expect. More evidence as if it were needed that there is something different about Opeth.

The more you listen to the song, the more you notice the irregularities in the drums. It almost feels like Lopez is playing it wrong, creating that edgy, unsettling feeling.

A nice song for sure, think we should all agree that listening to Opeth can be mentally demanding at first times, but that just shows us how great that band is. Also even if you listen to a single song the 50th time you find something interesting, something new... F*ck this band is the best!!! You should check Under The Weeping Moon, but the live version, it's a bit less blackened in sound.

Many people seem to think Lopez was the best opeth drummer. I strongly disagree, but i do think he is an AMAZING drummer that truly fitted opeth. Axe fitted opeth even more. He was far more tight when playing live and as creative in the studio (if you disagree on this, seriously go back and listen to all the newpeth albums). Axe did not have the latin inspiration many miss, but still as good drumming without that exact inspiration.
