If you like these guys, checkout Soen. The drummer in this video (Martin Lopez) left and started his own band. The band is Soen and checkout any song by them but I’d recommend “Opal”. Good stuff. Checkout the official video. It’s an in studio playthrough. I think Opal is a good hard driving introduction. There current opus is “Lotus”. (Save that one or later)

after watershed, between 2005-2010 i don't know i can't remember, mikael had some throat or vocal cord issue. this dvd is his last true growl performance i think.

Actually this live was record in 2003, so it's a pretty early gig. In my opinion the last live with awesome growls was the roundhouses tapes recorded in 2006. Mickael did awesome growls in Bloodbath live at party san in 2008. In 2010's Live at royal Albert Hall, you can hear his voice starting to blur. After that (and sadly) growls became a bit painfull. But after almost 30 years of doing gig and awesome music, this dude deserves a medal tbh.

@@PJAlphaMusic Indeed. A lot of hardcore fan base regret the Oldpeth Era, but the band evolve to a "progressive folk rock" since the heritage album that was almost 13 years ago now. I'm not very into it but they keep a good groove and Mikael Akerfeldt develop awesome clean vocals and harmonies then. We may like or dislike, but we must admit Opeth are truly great artists.

@@PJAlphaMusic If you count it in 7/8, then a lot of the guitar hits are on 1, 3, and 5. And sometimes with a lead-in hit on the second phrase like 7, 1, 3, 5. They shift it through the song, but you can hear that sort of leitmotif even through the softer parts.
