I’m a 80 year old white woman . When I was a child we would have ‘dinner on the grounds’. We lived in the country and this was how it was done . We had a long, long covered table in the side yard. It was chest height on an adult, back then I didn’t think it was fair because we needed help getting our food, but now I can see advantages. No more wasting food and no more little hands messing in the food. Thank you for your recipe and the memories. God bless you.

We used vanilla, almond and lemon flavoings. We also used a cup of sour cream and 2 sticks of butter. Mother came from a large family. They would get together on Sunday after church for dinner and visiting at grand parents house. As dinner settled the ice cream churns came out. All the children took turns turning the crank on the churns. The aunts would bring out their cakes. Each cake made to be the very best they made. My family were hard working folks or we would have been huge. Thanks for helping me remember. I am 74 now and only 3 of the youngest children are still with us.Memories are what we have left.

Mature Fella, memories of summers with our gatherings at Granny's. All of the aunts brought their best cakes (and other foods). There was always a big bowl of peaches, a big bowl of strawberries and other good things. To add the cakes and home churned ice cream. What cherished memories to a little GA girl from back in the 1950's. Thank you.

Just watched your video, I am impressed, you are the first one I have watched that knows that a pound cake uses a pound each of the basic ingredients, I learned that from my Grandmother and my Mother who made the best pound cakes on the planet, everyone else seems to think a pound cake is just in name only. Thanks for reminding me of the good times growing up where my Grandmother and Mother loved to bake cakes or all kinds and pies , and in general, made the best foods a young boy could grow up loving. Bravo for a cake well done.

Thank you for this recipe and for being such a strong Christian and blessing the food even on the video. You blessed me with a wonderful memory of my Daddy’s rule of never taking any bite without thanking the Lord. Thanks for that blessing. ❤❤
