2019 here - I just heard him singing in a 2019 clip at a church - his voice is gone buddy, can't even hit the high notes without cracking and squeaking and he's horribly out of tune. But that's age for you, he's just gotten too old and his voice is gone. It's sad because literally comparing this clip form eight years ago he's still got it, but eight years later, it's totally gone.

Yes I think they are great even then, they still they're. The reason is they do not sing for the council of wicked but for the great God.. yeah I love them.handsuphigher and higher.praise the great Jah.

Petra’s songs stand the test of time. Still relevant today as they were back in the day. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

You got that right! Greg is awesome. But so is John Schlitt. they are just 2 different types of voices that bring different things to the table. Regardless what everyone thinks, they are BOTH Petra and have made the band what it is through the ages. God bless them BOTH and God Bless Bob Hartman and the others for their incredible musicianship, song writing skill, and walk with God!

Petra: A group that God has used to take me through some of my worst crises of life. Their music is completely scriptural and has enhanced my life in many aspects. Praise be to the LORD who called these musicians into His ministry.

Adoni, An endless mystery. Love Petra in the 80's in the youth group. My friends and I would hang out and drive around rockin to Petra Saw them at the Lebanon College in the 80's with my friends. Awesome days. Still following Jesus today, 2022

My first purchase was EVER was "Not of This World" and my first tour was "Beat the System", from which came this song! One of my favorite rock worship songs (and songs period!) of all time!!! No better writer than Bob Hartman and vocalist than Greg X Volz!

You always knew who they were singing about, no questions. Skillet and others are good, but you may never know they were a Christian band with most of their music.

Any audio tech with good ears can tell you (if they've listened to the original track as much as I have) that this is the original recording's vocal track. He may actually sing on some of the songs in this show (and he does), but he's lip-synching on this one unfortunately. If you watch 0:15-0:17, you can see he messes up the lyrics, lol.

The instruments were live, the vocals were tracked, lol. They have a live mic on him for when he speaks in between. It's a trick that any audio engineer will tell you we do, and it's been done for years, especially at big name shows like this.

I cannot believe Greg still push those notes.....awesome! Backing vocals are phat. Seems the boys are back!

I had gone my entire life not seeing a Petra concert. I grew up more with John Schlitt rather than Greg X. Voltz. However, when they got back together to tour again, and they actually had a concert at the university I was attending, I decided to take the opportunity. They played all of the classic songs I hoped they would, and then some. I was very satisfied. Just glad I got to see them once. Now, if I can just catch a David Meece concert.

David Meece cant sing anymore. Even his piano playing ability isnt even close to what it was back in the day. Its sad because i love his music and wish i had gotten to see him in concert back in the 90's

I saw David Meece in concert live in the 80s, it was a packed house. Sad he's not still going. I saw Petra in Queensland Australia in 87 or 88, got my photo with them, John was the frontman. I wore my Petra jacket I won in western Australia. It was worth every cent.

Love how Petra love God and lift Him up!!!!! The best!!!

I'll never forget seeing them in person in Anchorage. Yep, there doesn't seem to be anything like this now all these years later. They had a common trait with 4him - they would pause the concert to lead the audience to Jesus. Them were some days, my friend.

I was at the concert in Branson, MO last year. That is legit singing. Greg still has the pipes.

I hear singers hit these high notes every day on the radio .... BUT, NEVER do you hear them do it in a live performance!! God has blessed Greg's vocal chords ..

First Petra song I played and sung was the Coloring Song. That was wayyyy back in 1981. I loved learning the song Beyond Belief. Another turning point in my life. I would be in the mission field overseas for 14 years. EDIT: As a bass player, this guy has that 70s growl indicative of an SVT and the Jazz Bass in his had.

Listening for the first time and Wow! Great songs and great vocals. The lead singer is probably 5-10 years older than me and has the best voice of any band lead our age. People don’t realize that cigarette smoking, alcohol and drugs destroy the vocal cords so clean living and the Lord has preserved his. He is blessed and so are we for getting to hear.

I really want John to come back and for them to make a double feature concert one with Greg and the next with John. No that would be a night to remember.

Some bands in the genre tell it in their own way. For Today, the heaviest christian metal band I know is an example. But their leader, Mattie Montgomery can really preach it! Look him up.

It was 1982 (not sure if it was 1983 or 84) when I was at a Christian festival in De Bron/Netherlands…I was almost a kid…when I saw these guys for the first time. What an event. A great influence that I become a musician myself.

What an incredible ministry! Since my teens I have loved Petra. Been to so many concerts and these messages in music have helped form a solid foundation on scripture for me. What would be better to spend hours listening to secular struggle and flesh or pour into your soul (and spirit) the word of God?!

I grew up listening to Petra. If there is one thing I have carried with me is this. Just because there is music that is called "CHRISTIAN" music doesn't mean it is. I believe most inherently know when music is truly inspired by The Lord. Thank you to The Lord for teaching me this lesson. There are certain Christian radio stations I won't listen to because they won't play good inspired music like Petra.

They started my electronics and music love for Christ. I was working the soundboard for my church's early service and I put in Petra - Beat the System, and everyone was standing and praising God and shouting for joy! love those days.
