Classic crowd footage at Arden St North Melbourne in 1978. North versus the Saints.
Classic crowd footage at Arden St North Melbourne in 1978. Who remembers St Kilda defeating reigning premiers Nth Melbourne by 3 points in round 14, 1978? Controversy surrounded goal umpire (also a Police inspector) Eric Brewer who awarded a goal to the Saints with the last kick of the day. A North fan attacked goal ump Brewer with a flag pole, for his safety he was given a 14 man police guard to get him off the ground that was invaded by angry North supporters. Narrated by the late Peter Luck, this excerpt from the magnificent ‘This Fabulous Century’ series also includes Peter at the MCG and Ron Barassi talking about the game he loves.
