They saved the money and now are millionaires meanwhile, their friends who took loans are still spending them with added interests and inflation and cost of living and providing education to their kids, I think them flashing their luxury on loans with mansions and cars is costing them heavily. I started saving since my first earning, I still save 70% of my income and the 30% goes into very wise spending. That's luxury for me to sleep with zero tensions of loans or having nightmares on how to accumulate wealth for the education of my kids or even manage the inflation.

Service sector, craftsmen, artisans all get money and get to showcase their work. They perform and provide services and glad to do so. Also that family have to invite people in their circle and entertain them. They would be disgraced if they do not invite all people in their relation, friend and business circle. Wedding is very important in Indian tradition and keeping it low means you broke either or a miser or holding it under some sad circumstances and need to keep it down. I am sure Western world is shocked by this wedding. No one in West will spend such a huge amount on their children's wedding. But the point raised by this journalist is also, bitter but, true!! The unequal distribution of wealth is a big problem for India. We are indeed developing rapidly, building infrastructure; our per capita, at least on paper, is growing. But is really the per capita of an average Indian growing? Our per capita is one of the lowest & if we remove the wealth of these few billionaires, the truth will be exposed!!

Wedding events gave people employment by holding this event and paying them for the service. Artists, craftsmen, caterers, waiters even cleaning crew would work and earn money because of these events. Giving people money without working for it ruins the society and country's economy in the long run. Even short term employment generation is a good. You should be more worried about yourself- Envy is a sin and your God may not condone.
