Congratulations finding such a nice looking 500! I purchased the Meteor (in Stella Red), in late Spring of 2021 from Motozilli in Warren,Ohio, after watching tons of YT vids, but your vids sealed the deal! I watched your test ride of the Classic 350 in Savannah, Ga. in April, 2022 and it was Love at First Sight! ... back to Motozilli for the Signals Edition in Desert Sand in May, 2022! Now your making me drool for the Classic 500! Why must you make such great vids? Your costing me a small fortune! Since they are all R.E.'s, (fortunately), it is only a Very Small Fortune...LOL! Looking forward to future vids from you on the Classic 500! Keep assuming your invisible (to others) when riding your bikes and no one can see you, so catastrophe's remain minor incidences! Have Fun!

I have 500 trials and 350classic. The 350 is more refined and better built. But I much prefer the 500 due to the torque on hills. I can pull up big hills in 5th whereas the 350 often down to 3rd. Not a lot of speed difference bet the 500 is much more long legged. 👍Vibes aren't a problem for me.

Hi ronin, my name is mike, and I too have a classic 500. It has just under 7k miles on it, and it puts that grin on my face every time I’m on it. Mine is a 2018 model and has disc brakes front and rear with abs, and stops great. It’s also o.d. Green so seeing yours is like looking at mine! Have fun on it, and I look forward to more videos of it!

A Canadian watching from Manila in the Philippines . Like you I have been riding over 50 years . The last 8 and a half on my 500 classic which now has some were between 19 - 20,000 miles on it . At about 60 mph there is bad vibs. till the engine gets worn in after that most of the vibs are not bad at all . I have done many long rides at 70 to 75 mph no problem .Top speed of 85- 90 mph on mine . Much of my riding is at the slower speeds because of the traffic here and the road conditions . Luck if you can run 30 - 50 mph but that's another story . I love the toque of the engine just pulls like a tractor when you need it . I would suggest were the wire harness passes threw the rear fender make the hole a little bigger since they tend to rub there and cause shorts . The head stay bracket broke on mine so I put two on as some one else mentioned here ,one on each side , no more problem since then . I just wrapped the brackets with black elect. tape so the wires would not rub on them causing a short . These bikes are not for every one for sure if you are looking for power and speed from point A to point B . How ever as a good all round bike there great . Some one once said touring speed of 60 mph is about right to actually enjoy the view after that speed you have to focus on the road and traffic . Enjoyed your video and looking forward to seeing more on the classic 500 . All I can say is I really like mine and had pretty good luck with it so far .

Glad you survived the encounter with the distracted driver unscathed, OMR 👍 The Classic 500 is a great looking modern classic. A lot of the complaints that I have seen about it on YT (other than the vibrations) have to do with poor components and assembly and unreliability. I hope your long-term experience on the bike can dispel these ✌

The Classic 500 was sold in the U.S. up until 2019. Because of low sells and the euro 5 emissions standards they discontinued making the 500 and introduced the new 350 that's in Meteor, Classic and Hunter motorcycles.

Great bike!. I have one. A Battle Green, just like yours. Mine is one of the final ones made, with disk brakes all round and ABS. I rate these far more than the new 350's. Not only are they quicker and more powerful but they also have hydraulic tappets, so servicing is easy, no tank off job, they look after themselves. They also benefit from not being Euro 5 compliant, so are much more tuneable. Happy days 😁

I am so glad that you have liked our bikes! This is value for money plus the experience...... Thrill all the way ! Being a proud oner of an Himalayan..... They build for the indian roads..... And we don't build very poerful bikes, as per government norms, even if we do we gotta restrain it for it being rod legal.... For if you have a traffic the way in India, you cannot muscle up your machine. In the end what matters is the flavour of the ride ! And it's abslutely beautiful to a such small engine !

The current 350's are more modern motors and are within 3 hp of the older 500's. The 500 has a lot of low end torque, but the torque quickly drops as the rpm's increase. Max power is around 4300 rpm. The newer 350's breathe better and maintain power at higher engine speeds. Their max power is around 6000 rpm, but max torque is still at a low 2800 rpm.

Own one 2016 classic chrome, my special day ride bike, and yes vibration, managed to cut it down by throwing away the coil for a good after market one the spark leads the plug cap ( stock plug cap is rubbish) and an NGK plug what a difference , will sit at 70 mph now with out the bad buzzing, ditched the half ton pipe and a K&N air filter, I am impressed at how well it handles. It’s my life keeper.

Vibration? Seriously people??? These things are smoooooth! For a single thumper, it's silky smooth. Handle bar buzz is only a thing at high speed (where you shouldn't be....not it's mission..). I have the same bike, in a 2018 model with the evap hoses/cannister and other crapola...which will soon find a dumpster but...I digress. It's a fantastic, FUN and simple machine. It is remarkably nimble, brakes are sufficient, gearing ranges make sense, it's easy to work on and gets looks everywhere. I came out to my bike at work the other day preparing for the long ride home and found a note on the bike "I love your bike!" it said. NO other machine I've owned garners that kind of attention. It's just a fun motorcycle all around.

Something about these bikes that makes you smile all the way and not give a hoot on how fast you are going.

Congratulations! Nice bike! I’ve owned five 500s. Been riding almost as long as you. The vibration isn’t a comfort issue. It’s an engineering problem. Several of mine broke the upper motor mount. RE calls it a head steady. You can engineer a stronger one but the simple solution is to add a second one on the other side of the mounting bolts. My 2012 broke the frame just aft of the right footpeg. The importer at the time, Kevin Mahoney said it was a common problem on the 2012 model. I had it welded. Of course if you can keep your speed below 50 mph like they do in India you probably won’t have those problems. One other thing to be aware of. The inside of the crankcase had hidden compartments that are almost impossible to drain. It is a common problem during an oil change or even a quick glance at the oil level to think it is low. Then you bring the level up to full on the glass but there’s that hidden pint. Now when you run it, it pukes out the excess😜 One unique feature of the UCE version like yours, is the automatic compression release. It is deactivated by centrifugal force so it doesn’t work at idle. It makes kickstarting so easy! One kick most of the time! Just bring it up on the compression stroke and give it a nice smooth kick! I wish the 350 had that just because it’s so cool.

So, watching this while sitting on the loo lol. Took one of these for a cruise the other day, I've also ridden the 350 which i recorded on my channel 40noobnz... it was a bit of a shock because after riding the perfectly smooth 350, then riding this ( which i didn't get time to record) i felt like i had 2 orbital sanders on my hands and after 20 mins my hands were numb lol. I still loved it, but i don't know if i would want to ride it for my usual 3-5hr rides on the weekends, even the dude that rode my v-strom just went " wow, just so nice to ride, like being in a car." He had to ride from Auckland to Hamilton (about an hour and a half) and was exhausted because of the wind and vibration. Heres my final take for you though, the bike will retain and even gain its value, its a great bike to ride for maybe an hours trip around. Btw, the reason i don't have more videos on my channel is because i was hit by a car on my motorcycle just a few months after getting my licence by a guy txting on his cell phone and have had multiple surgeries to fix my leg, so i am very, very happy you are still ok. I think everyone should be made to ride motorcycles for the first 2 years they have their licence so they learn what its like and learn to look out for us! My only disappointment here mate is this, and i will say I'm so happy you got another beast to put in your stable, but that would have been enough money to come and see me and travel around NZ! Hahaha 😆 I'd love you and her two wheels to come and see what NZ has to offer, maybe in a year or 2 i can shout you a trip and RE can loan you a bike! I'm doing a trip around the south island over Christmas so sub to my channel and check it out!

I totally enjoyed my 2017 Classic Bullet 500 in battle green same as yours! It was a really fun bike. I finally sold it to a friend who bugged me for years to sell it to him and got myself a Meteor 350. Great bikes! I agree with you, I am 70 and I didn't really find much to complain about as far as vibration is concerned. I barely noticed it!

Notperfectism. I'll cross out imperfect and add your new word to my dictionary. Joking aside, I'm delighted to see the Enfield brought unadulterated joy to your riding experience, which is exactly what I want from a motorcycle. I'm struggling, however, to decide between the Classic 350, the 500 and the new Hunter 350. All of which look great.

Great video! I also have the classic 500, Carberry reduction plate 19t front sprocket, make a difference to the vibes and cruising speed. Had a test ride on the 350 and found it to be bland compared to the 500. I think the 500 is almost the perfectly designed motorcycle, astetically pleasing.

I looked at a beautiful Classic 500 before I bought my Meteor. I was interested in the bike but wanted to test ride the Meteor first. Needless to say the Meteor blew me away so I bought that one instead of the Classic 500. I liked the look of the Classic 500 but it's seat height was a bit too tall for me.

Similar stories:I went to a Royal Enfield dealer to test ride a Classic 350 and I had brought money to put down on it. The dealer told me flat out that I would hate it and there would be no reason to test ride it. I left the dealer and ended up buying a used 2014 Classic 500 which is presently being customized. Over a year ago I was on a parkway outside of New York City when I too was sideswiped by a mini van trying to get out of a slow lane. I do not know how I stayed up on the bike. I pulled over to the side of the road and saw the white mini van pull behind me. The driver then proceeded to tell me it wasn't him that hit me. He saw the van take off. His son was in the passenger seat, He wouldn't look up. I knew the driver was lying. I was a bit shaken up but fine. All I had was a busted mirror. I let him go and went on my way.

I think the C5 got it's reputation for vibrations from riders taking new ones for tests. That apparently is when they're at their worst. I got mine with 6k mls on it and don't find it at all bad. However I've owned a couple of Meriden Triumphs and still have BSA 441. From what I've read , with more use it will get even better. About the horn, your right ,not the best. The home version in India has two horns , as does mine now.

Are they still making those 500 Bullets??? I thought they ended that line. Shame really. Your just lucky to have found such a classic. Just keep too the back roads because if you take it into town those people are going to be stopping you all the time to tell you what a great job you did restoring that Old Bike . (lol) Who knows , one day RE just might bore that 350 J engine out to be a 500 and engineer the correct internal counter balances to restart the 500 Bullets again. We need a 500 single that runs as smooth as butter.

I understand they did away with the 500 so they could focus on the 350 and 650 series, but its a great " in between size " and they could have improved it like the 350. What sucks is they did away with the kickstarter, obviously to cut costs and give the new bike's a cleaner look. Not a good decision. Oh what could have been.

I am in Colombia SA and have a 2021 black Himi that my wife and I absolutely love which is set up for touring , I met another Royal Enfield owner with a 2018 Classic 500. The bike is shiny, chromed out and beautiful and very much like a Harley with bags and such. As he said it was set up for touring. He said that he was taking a small trip over the weekend and when I saw him later he said that the lower connecting rod bearing started knocking after about an hour of doing 65 to 70 on the interstate. I told him that with that bike's vibration, perhaps 70 was a bit much for long trips. Most of the people doing vids say it is best on back roads doing 55mph. Any thoughts?

hello from across the pond UK my bike is on my profile pic .. i wanted the battle green but very rare and way more expensive .. but i found an Indian import classic 500, 2013 ,twin spark 535cc upgrade rear drum brake and very very poor front brake but even worse in poor weather but its fun ..i have took mine to 83mph on GPS with the controllable speed wobble but after reducing the tyre pressure on the rear to 25PSI she manages 80mph and keeps steady without missing a beat for miles but doing 90mph down hill is a bit of a gripping the tank moment and chin down and a very short life expectancy and trust me they do not like it and they are not built for speed and i can promise you i have never done that again ... i have rode mine very hard in britsh weather all seasons and now 15,000 miles and she just laughs at me

It will be interesting how you get on with the bike the old singles were always a bit too left field for me. I am a member of the local Enfield owners club and these bikes are popular with the membership (the Himalayan owners are nearly a club within the club). We do get a few or the British Enfields from the fifties, sixties and seventies but most of the owners have bikes from the last ten years and strangely none of the 350 bullets from the eighties and nineties .
