That Class 31 looks like it needs rather more than a re-paint. Work on both cabs to deal with body rot & leaking window seals. It just looks somewhat neglected.

Nice relaxing day out, great cab ride, staff look happy and friendly. If they repaint class 31, which scheme would you prefer ? Cheers, Cliff.

Ye it was a nice relaxing day and the staff were very frendly thay asked me if I wanted to ride in the cab oh yes. I quite like the regional railways livery but I suppose Green or BR blue.

There are at least two collections of shunters at Peak Rail, the Heritage Shunters Trust and the Briddons at Darley Dale. Neither are part of PR itself.

Why did the driver have the train brake in the operating position when being dragged that brake should be in the off position.

For working a Vacuum fitted train the trailing locomotive has its exhausters isolated and the brake handle in the running position. For Air brake working the brake handle will be in the shut down position.

@@Seb7535_pafc Didn't notice it was a vacuum braked stock am too dum to realise it's a steam loco. I only ever worked one steam loco from chester to crewe back in the early 80s, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it😂👍

@@Seb7535_pafc Long time since been on 31's , though it was locked out ! I know AV2 controlled the Vac pipe via loco ABP when Loco is working Vac train , never sure how Vac pipe controlled loco ABP when trailing . Obviously trailing its needs the Vac train pipe to control loco brakes does AV2 work ways? . Long time ago now can't see how AV2 can drop brake pipe to apply loco brake when auto brake (M8A) when in running position , wouldn't it try to maintain 5bar ? edit ,but then if locked out how does loco get brake pipe ? I can't remember I probably never trailed dual braked loco on vac train but its common practise on these steam railways AV2 or air vac relay forgotten exact name now , its age thing LOL
