Part 1 Crewe to Whitchurch. Filmed when the route was controlled by a mix of semaphore and colour light signals. Part 2 Whitchurch to Shrewsbury coming soon.
Жүктеу.....

Good film. Nice memories of when I worked at the Area Civil Engineer, Crewe. I recall various spots come to mind on this route.

Thanks Russell, a lovely unspoilt journey which does nothing but put you in a good mood watching it. It was still 1964 for me........

Excellent film - a lovely day, good quality colour and clear cab audio. Reminds me of the times when I had a similar view as a regular passenger in the 80/90s; riding in front seats behind the cab of the 1st generation dmu's on the Crewe - Swansea via Central Wales line from/to Llanwrtyd. Then the passing traffic were Class 37 hauled freights and Class 33s on the Crewe - Cardiff. Great memories! Thanks for taking the time to edit and share this film - much appreciated.

Thanks for this. My dad was a train driving instructor in the late 1970's early 1980's and he use to take drivers out on this line. We moved to Willaston from near Walsall Bescot in the 1960's, Willaston's the first level crossing. I saw my dad training someone in a DMU cab while waiting at the next level crossing which I think is London road Nantwich.

Crewe, Nantwich & Wrenbury is very much my home part of the world (my roots). Nice to see the fine signal box at Wrenbury station still in situ in the film at that time. Was it demolished or did some heritage line take it?

Whitchurch is a lovely town so its a real pity the station is so grotty. I bet it did have a lovely station in the past which has now been demolished?

I just about remember trains leaving for Oswestry on the old Cambrian line which continued to the Welsh Coast. Ex GWR Manors were common hauling very comfortable Hawksworth coaches.

Always like to watch where catenary finishes and here its a fair distance from Crewe. Wonder why they wired that far out.....did ACs ever get up that line to the linits?

The all stations local on a lovely line prior to the most recent alterations where it is signalled from Cardiff and the old manual boxes and semaphores are now no more and colour lights are in their place.

Enjoy the views of the signal boxes. They are being demolished. Harlescott, Wem and Wrenbury have already gone.

Just a bit of feedback, for those of us who don't know the line it would have been nice to be advised the names of the stations.

Great video thanks for uploading but my only problem with these types of videos are those who insist having the camera zoomed in which takes all sensation of speed, other than that really enjoyed.

Russell Ward nice vid. I like Shrewsbury station. It has that slight whiff of late BR to it with hint of diesel..a little bit down at heel if you understand me. Lovely part of the world though
