    Driving back from holiday the Mrs drove right over a giant rake that was in the motorway. Pulled over to access the damage. My side was good, she said her side was fine. Others hit it too and were doing the same. Hopped in the car and as soon as we got going the car was lopsided. Her side wasn't fine. Both tyres were flat and the rims buckled

    It's a fairly common problem... for 'murican cars. You do get how that happens though, right? The caliper went into a wheel spinning at high speeds and was flung into the gear box. 'murican gear boxes and rear axels are notoriously easy to penetrate. Anything bigger than a pebble and they're shot.

  • @michaelmay5453

    @michaelmay5453

    @@ShaggyRogers1 It wasn't a drive wheel, it was the front wheel. The thing is that if you lose a caliper at high speeds the wheel will fling it wherever and since 'murican gearboxes are made with cardboard and a prayer it would literally enter it if flung in that direction, which is exactly what happened.

    Honestly? I actually really liked the idea of Hammond's Pirate Tank having the four sets of treads instead of the wheels (and the high ground clearance/steel girders up front), and it was definitely a cool-looking machine. But the way the treads themselves were designed was inherently flawed; with nothing much to stop said treads from slipping, as well as them being made of rubber that just wasn't strong or reliable enough for the job. Refine it by adding some extra protective measures (rubber-padded steel treads instead of just rubber, side armour plates and more reliable idler assemblies/rollers/sprockets to keep the treads on), and I think you'd have something legitimately good!

    If it's the Ford Focus RS, in hindsight, the treads were a failed idea because of the road conditions they were facing If it's the Charger, that was entirely the builder's fault, as it seems he forgot to tighten the calipers when Hammond was driving it, which fell off and locked the driveline which then broke everything that drove the car.

    The only time I’ve ever broken down (knock on wood) my serpentine belt idler pulley came apart, like the plastic just disintegrated, while on my way to work, which meant I had no power steering, wasn’t charging the battery, and most importantly, wasn’t turning the water pump. I didn’t know I was overheating because…the temp gauge doesn’t work…but I knew something was wrong, so I pulled into a diner parking lot. Fortunately, I was only five minutes down the road from work, so someone came and picked me up, and the dealership I work at has their own flatbed truck, so they went and got my pickup for me (for free) and brought it to the dealership for me so I could fix it. Drove it home later that day.

    I think you missed another breakdown from A Massive Hunt. After Richard replaced the tracks on his Ford Focus with normal wheels, he drove through uneven terrain in a low ground clearance. Later that night when going down an incline there was a loud thud, and soon the car was stuck and worse yet, the clutch broke so Richard abandoned his car unable to fix the clutch.

    Before you Three quit;(retire) you must train apprentices. We need lads with the same hatred/love you guys have for each other. Unfortunately, I am American so only Mr. hammnond would like most of my picks however, I am a strong believer in power. Please take some time think it out and train 3 mini you's call Mr. Collins( white helmet guy) for a great control and continue to run Amazon Prime.
