The days when M1 Garands were $450 and they actually had Krags :(

Yep, don't think it's possible to find one for under $1000 today unless it's falling apart like their Rack grades.
Anyone who thinks Trump should get our M1 Garands back from Korea mark a thumbs up for me and for you. This will give me an idea of who or how many may sign a real petition.

Just do it and post it on all the new videos and major gun blogs. You aren't going to get anywhere posting this on a 9 year old video.

cmp prices are beyond the reach of most of us. I'll leave it up to those with more resources than I have. Shooting, like flying, is now a rich man's hobby.

Hello As a fellow veteran,I want to thank you for your service. Keep the great videos coming! Jman
Great video! Got a call from a good friend who was in Alabama visiting family, the day before he went to buy 2 Garands, he was kind enough to offer to pick one up for me. However I came across a Springfield manufactured piece (Serial # indicated 1945 date) 20 years ago at a Civil War Show in Baltimore, complete w/ sling and cleaning kit in butt . He asked for $400...........shoots great, best $400 I ever spent. Thanks for posting video, enjoyed it and reading all the comments.
Thank-you for the posting: I loved every bit of it. Semper Fi
Thanks for the great video..The CMP is a real gem for the public to have..I have received several M1's from the CMP and always have been pleased with what they sent me..Customer service is awesome as well.. I really don't know if I could handle seeing all those beautiful rifles and only be able to pick 1 or 2..
Got my M1 earlier this year at the very same CMP!!! Everyone was extremely helpful,I asked a guy behind the counter for assistance on picking out one and he led me to a "RACK" grade with a wink and a smile that barely guaged a 2!! Will be going back sometime after the first of the year.
great video, thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for the video. Got my Garand ~2 months ago and shot her for the first time this past weekend. Not only did she shoot sweetly, she turned quite a few heads at the range. Can't beat a classic beauty, that's for sure.
Great video, very informative. Glad you love the rifles for the history. Many just want guns instead of appreciating what it was once manufactured for.
Just got mine from CMP...$625...cleaned and oiled her and hope to go shooting tonight...putting about 10 clips through her to check everything out.

Excellent video. Thanks for posting (5 years ago!). ;-)
So much awesomeness in one small room
Thanks for posting this !
they should have these stores in every state
I had an uncle that decided he wanted a M1 carbine like his issue weapon during WWII. This was back in 1960 or '61. Off of an ad on the back of a magazine, might have been the American Rifleman, he ordered a M1 for $19! I remember when it came he was a bit put out because it was in cosmoline. I sat and watched as my father helped him degrease it. Still, even at prices I can't afford, I am awfully glad that these instruments of freedom aren't being cut up for scrap.
Excellent video; you gave a great tour of the CMP sales office. Clearly you know what you're talking about. There are a lot of Yayhoos out there making videos that don't really know whereof they speak...but you do man.
Great video. Thank you for posting it.
Makes me glad I got my c&r. I've already got one M1 (great uncle carried it in the pacific) and whenever I can save the money up, I'm gonna buy one to have as an everyday shooter! Fantastic rifles they are :)
I am so sorry for the sickness in your family. I hope he is touched and healed and doesn't have to suffer. I hope you and ytour family find peace, if something goes wrong, in knowing he is in a better place where the ammo will always be sufficient! Take care and God bless you anf your family.
I miss those prices

great video. thank you very much
I haven't been to Anniston, but have gone to the CMP store at Camp Perry, Ohio a number of times. My wife and I each got an M1 back in the day when they were only $165.00! What a bargain!
Totally cool! Great field trip video and very interesting. Thanks. 5 STARS
This does help. I have an HR service grade on order. The CMP people were very helpful .....I may just have to order another one. Appreciate this kind of advice, since this is my first Garand.
thanks for making this vid real interesting
Very cool, thanks for the suggestion - I didn't know that was an option.
what a great opportunity!
You're welcome! Glad I could help!
Ah!! Got it! Thanks much!
wow, what a selection!
Nice video, thanks for sharing!
Nice i live close to the CMP at Camp Perry and have been looking at and wanting a M1 for years! cant wait to have one!!!
You wouldn’t believe the service grade M1 I purchased from CMP. It came from Anniston excellent shape with new wood and it’s a real great shooter!!! I’ve used it in matches out to 600 yards. No I didn’t place but got my rounds on the paper.🇺🇸😃
Great video cant wait to get a garand from the cmp!
Wow what a great place to go christmas shopping!! I have never seen anything like it.
What an interesting place! Thanks for posting this video and letting us all have a look at the CMP depot. I'd be very poor when leaving such a place! I have to wonder where they are dredging up the Krag-Jørgensen rifles, those have been out of service for a heck of a long time.
$3k for the M1 Carbine paratrooper model. I remember my cousin who is much older than me who was in Vietnam as a Marine back in 66-67. They still carried a few M1 and M1D model Garands in combat. Interesting enough when he was younger he would go to the CMP to purchase his guns. His first purchase was a M1 Carbine for $25 and later a paratrooper model M1 Carbine for $40. If I only could go back in time.
love it
Seeing this for the first time. I am in the process of ordering a service grade m1. Can't wait to get it, but I will be patient. When it arrives, I will be like a kid at Christmas.
I have a Springfield 1942 Garand, things a tack driver , with open sights off the bench with hand loads does a inch group. Most modern rifles with scopes can't do that.
I just sent out my sales order today... Cant wait to get it!
So much awesome in one place.
Great vid man. I live in Ohio and I'm gonna have to visit the camp perry CMP shop!
I am envious as all get out!
Great video, thanks! My order goes in Monday.
Thus videos is very interesting, I love this video so much.😍 I love working in guns, so I will get an m1 carbine and buy an action parts for a project.
@tehatemachine Yes you can. No restrictions on Garands. CMP even ships right to your door no FFL required.
i just ordered an m1 Garand and at that price you cant beat it!
@Tex125 You can order from the CMP website and have the rifle shipped to your house. You must meet all the requirements found on the CMP website. Sorry guys no more M1 Carbines and 1903's at this time :( Some 1917's and 1903's maybe avalible sometime later this year.
I want one but got me a M-1A. I really enjoy my M-1A and I wouldn't mind having a Garand as well. Nice video!
Great vid. Give all of us that can't get there a look inside. Now we should be expecting some Garand vids soon too, right :)
Thank you sir. I will order mine by mail sometime soon. I wish I could go to a CMP store and pick one out myself, but unfortunately I live in central Illinois.
Garand Mecca. Absolutely stunning.
u guys are so cool getin to go and shop like that and i encourage and one who wants to shoot should b able to hi five on that one
WOW! that place is heaven, i didnt see any m14(m1a) rifles, but those garands looked sweet. Id like to get a 762 rifle, but il stick to my DCM Bushy for now. thanks for the vid.
The good old days..
Paradise.
AAAARRGGHH that's the neatest video i've EVER seen!! that CMP store is HEAVEN to me!! What's with the "SA SERVICE GRADE SPECIAL" Garands? are they simply reparkerized? wood looked gorgeous. the whole store looks like all my fantasies come true.
Damn, M-1 Garand Heaven. Thanks for posting.
the knife cut in the wood by a g i think same guys play with vx gas shells
I always wanted to see what they had thanks
Those are probably made by Auto Ordnance (Kahr Arms). I've got one (although not the paratrooper configuration) and it runs flawlessly. It's my favorite shooter.
i like the two you picked out nice rifles from what i saw
Holy crap mossberg 44's my grandfather gave me 2 extra's he had laying around. I fixed them up over the summer haha I didn't expect to see those.
i meant both the m1 garand and the m1 carbine... thx for the help
M1 Garand is my favorite gun. Man, that room almost made me cry. All those M1s, and i don't own any of em....
I did my basic and AIT in Anniston Alabama. I had no idea this was there, of course I didnt get out much back then, I was a little busy......LOL>
This is so cool
The folks at the CMP are great. My HRA will be here soon. In the mean time I've been ordering everything that I'll need for it like Lubricate grease, CMP en-blocs, and stuff like that.

man!!! i wish we had one of those around here, best i have is a guy who sells mosin, enfields, etc at 2-3X more than they're worth
very nice gun shop
Sweet i wish there was a CMP in Southern CA
i wish we had a building like this one in my country...
@pyroboys2 in south florida garands are very hard to find, I have seen a few enfields, Kar 98s, an Arisaka, I myself have an Arisaka type 99, I have seen M1 carbines, in local gunshops, but the only time I have ever seen garands, they were from $1800 to $2900,
Please release vids to those that can't own (or even see in real) marvels like these. I think I'm going to see this video frame by frame... awesome.
very cool ,thanks for the video . 5*
Yes, parts like manufacture and such. you might get a near perfect rifle or one that is all mis-matched.
CMP or Civilian Marksmanship Program was originally designed to promote rifle marksmanship. It was originally a government program preparing future marksmen for [hopeful] military service. You still have to belong to some shooting club/group & have proof of training [or military service] in order to purchase from them even now when they are only quasi-governmental. I believe they are the only ones that can FedEx a rifle right to your door [when ordering online].
@joeydodgemuddin I think you just sign up online for the civilian marksmanship program. Then once you are a member you get to go shop at there locations.
Wish I had gotten one back when this video was made.
aaaa i would kill to go there!!!
man i wish prices still looked like that!!
holy moses! what a store i wish i was there.
Glad you got a rifle, was it select grade or field grade? When you mentioned you were going out there, I really wished I wasn't working the next day. Funny thing, when I went out and bought mine, it was raining also. Looking at all those rifles is overwhelming isn't it, I'm glad I had someone with me to help me look. I love my Garand. Ya know, your buddy in can man my semi 1919a4 when we go shooting if he wants!
Man, I hope my dad and I could be able to make the trip to buy one of these beauties! I would have butterflies the entire trip, and probably faint when I finally walk in!
