CMP South - The M1 Experience
A look into a visit to the CMP South Store in Anniston, AL and the M1 Garand Buying Experience. All the folks at the CMP are very helpful and very patient, especially the armorers. They will take a lot of time explaining, educating and, sharing their wealth of knowledge, not only on a particular rifle but also, the rifle's development & history. If you're contemplating acquiring an M1 Garand, I would highly encourage you to take a trip to one of the 3 locations and get your first one in person. The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a national organization dedicated to training and educating U. S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms and airguns through gun safety training, marksmanship training and competitions. Bobby is super helpful on any questions you have. And his dog sweet as can be. Helped me pick out a couple of M1s.
Those rack remind me of military school, spent a lot of time cleaning M-1's on my way to becoming a weapons platoon NCO. JROTC
Great video! I bought a very nice 1943 Winchester M1 from Bobby at the CMP last week!

Awesome! In my opinion, you can't beat the experience of going there in person and selecting the rifle(s) you want. But, it's just not possible for some. Thanks for watching!

I live 30 min from Anniston and Talladega stores. There were people from all over the country there Friday.

I have tried to get on the forum and call CMP with no luck. All the Rack, Field and Service M1's are out of stock. Are there still good buys in the store location? Maybe more coming to the online orderings? I did order on of the expert (new stock and barrel) and would still like a more historical rifle. I am US Army retired, did my BCT right there in Anniston, 1986 Ft. McClellan.

As far as I know, they are still actively doing sales. I DO know that they recently had to go through some sort of audit/inventory procedure and everything got delayed from that. Thanks for watching!

Not sure but, I think there may be a limit of 1 per year on those and, there is definitely a limit of 6 per year on the M1s
