    Hi mate, do you have the same engine as this fitted?.. This one cost nearly 2k to do the job, however I did a clutch on it and service at the same time. I would to be honest want to supply the parts as I cannot warrant parts I do not supply, irregardless of where they are bought from.

    Exactly the same happened to my 2019 c3 back in November, 38k miles so pretty much the same mileage . Same error messages same issue with car having to stop immediately and throwing all errors. Took to citroen and they said it was an issue with belts and that they had changed them since but makes me not really trust the car even if mine has been fixed.

Cleaned out one magnetvalve and changed to other, changed to oil sensor since it was clogged. Overall around 2000€. About 5000km later had ro change crankshaft sensor but no idea if thats connected. Also the engine uses a less viscid oil now since thats needed for the new timing belt.

  • @Chris_CDB

    @Chris_CDB

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi there, it sounds like you have high crank case pressure, possibly caused by a worn out engine, if you have oil being forced out oh the cap it must be under some serious pressure. Or potentially a breather isn’t connected properly. Without looking at the vehicle it is difficult to diagnose over message! 🤦🏼‍♂️

    Without warranty, how much did it cost for replace oil pump and timing belt like you did above? Does changing oil to PSA specs regularly help mitigate the issue? I change engine oil for 2018 plate every 3-5k and visually check the timing belt via oil cap place.

  • @Chris_CDB

    @Chris_CDB

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think from memory it was around 2k for the job. However we did a clutch kit and a few other bits to the car while it was all in bits so it may be a bit cheaper, it really just depends on the place you take it, some will be 40 an hour, some can be 80.. ! Oil in theory you want to keep to spec, however any oil is going to degrade a rubber belt over time. Inspection of the belt through the hole is all well and good however you cannot see the front toothed side of the belt, so makes it difficult to see what’s going on. Best way is probably to remove the sump and take a look at the pickup tube for the oil pump.

    my wifes car has been sitting on my parents drive for 4 weeks now due to this problem, its a ds3 puretech 1.2 engine on a 2016 plate with 73k miles, it sounds like a ww2 tank, we are gutted we cant use it cos we are still bloody paying for it, rang ds company which is a seperate company to citreon since 2013, and he told me they are repairing the problem as they know about it but they have stopped investigation work for a few months now, so cant even use it till they start up again, im thinking of just getting someone out to have a look and see if they can just clean up the oil strainer on the oil pump for now so we can use the car till ds company books it in, but in all honesty we dont know what else to do as we certainly havent got £2k to spend on it thats for sure, any help with this matter would be greatfully received cdb mechanics.

    Hi mate, right there are other options you have here, the reason that the oil pump was changed on this particular car is because it was still under the manufacturers warranty and it had to be changed as matter of course., however just last week I had another one in wit the self same issue, we managed to clean the oil strainer, flush the system, and fit a new belt for less that half the cost.
