Wet timing belt replaced on a 2017 Citroen Ds3 including oil pump pick up cleared of belt debris.
New auxiliary belt wasn't available at the time of filming so for demonstration purposes the old belt was refitted. A new belt was fitted before vehicle left the workshop. 😀

I am sure this will be invaluable to anyone having to do this job for the first time. I am surprised you put the same fanbelt back on which looked to be in poor condition !!

Other than putting back the badly cracked serpentine belt it was a good instructional video

Wet Belts are a crime. I used to work at an Opel Dealership and like every 3rd car had trouble with them expanding. Good for the owners: there was a recall for them ;)

Not on a Toyota, 3L, 5L, 1KZ, 1KD, 2KD, never has a single problem with the belts. 1CD, and all the Diésel engines with belts.

But why when dry belts are tried and trusted and a doddle to change, if you want it running in oil put a bloody chain on it. Modern design by child engineers.......

Great video thanks, but why didn't you chock the rear wheels and leave a raised jack under the cross member for extra safety? I would have flushed the engine before refilling with oil.

At least the sump is easy to remove than on a Ford Ecoboost.

That serpentine belt was stuffed. It should have been replaced. I enjoyed the video.

Trying to do this on my parents car currently. 2016 and the sump looks so much worse in condition. It’s practically seized on and I can’t get it off at all. At a loss here because it needs to be done ASAP but a new sump is £200 from main dealer

what mileage is this vehicle as looks like all servicing schedule has been overlooked - that serpentine belt should have been changed 10s of thousands of miles ago - looks like its done 90k, I always change mine at every cambelt scheduled service regardless. On my 2003 VW Sharan, service interval for dry belt was every 40k / 4 years which ever is sooner. Always had it changed at 40K with a new water pump and new serpentine belt and never caused me issue. Very good video - personally with this fantastic video I would change mine at 40k on this wet belt system / 4 years - whichever comes sooner myself as it looks like an easy job for most DIYers and once you have done it once, muscle memory will kick in so every subsequent change will become easier and easier - subscribed and liked

wet belts are not an never will be a good idea... years ago had a belt been contaminated with oil you had to bin it whether new or old.

Whats the material used in the timing belt? It seems to have fibers

  • @bwautocare

According to the Millers Oil website, Manufacturers make timing belts from rubber or an elastomer such as nitrile, neoprene, or polyurethane, and they include reinforcing cords to control the belt tension. They also tend to have an oil resistant coating to improve durability.

Why u tighten the cam sprockets with slag on the belt? Tighten the sprocket bolts is the last thing to do but first adjust the tention on the belt!

Hi, On this engine the Camshaft Dephaser pulleys are on keyways. According to manufacturers data, the Dephaser pulleys should be fully tightened before tensioning the timing belt. Hope this helps!

To remove the oil pan you need a specific and unexpansive tool to avoid distortion...The old belt (with fabric on surface) whe see here is the first belt model who was replaced with a new model much more resistant (no fabric visible on surface) in april 2017, so i think this engine was built before...And what the hell did you not see that the acessory belt is completly craked!!!!!! The 3 belts from this engines MUST be always replaced in same time!!!
