@@johnnysilverhand1733, agree. There’s just no way anyone buys a Citizen. That’s why I think that people who claim to own a Citizen (or any obsolete mechanical watch) are just trolls. They don’t really have the watch, I can’t think of a reason for it; therefore, it doesn’t happen.

Why don't you mention that it is made of titanium with a hardness of over 1000 Hv? Also, the anti-magnetic resistance is over 16000A/m. I think these are big advantages in this price range.
Here's my take on Citizen: They're basically Seiko, just without all the QC issues and strange pricing. Love my Promaster Ecodrive diver, never once thought about getting a Seiko diver after buying it PS I think 1:27 is what most people are shooting for when they buy a bronze watch 🤣🤣

Citizen is far away from being close to Seiko. Their lineups are all cluttered. Seiko has big QC issues, but at least they don’t sell most of their interesting automatic watches Japan only.
I have one and i love it. I like the 70´s funky style. Good movement, great materials AND great history behind. Regarding those who compare prices with the ecodrive etc... I don't think it's comparable, this is a completely mechanical watch. I think that the doubt arises as they say with watches like Tissot, Certina and Seiko. But I have to say that the Citizen can be obtained cheaper (between 650 and 750). The issue is whether you prefer to have more reserve or a faster heartbeat... I personally prefer the heartbeat, at the level of engineering and production cost it seems more valuable to me. Getting more reserve is easy with a longer spring at the cost of precision... that's why the big brands use two barrels and still don't reach the 80h of the powermatic. The point is that it is clear that there are better watches, but I think the value for money is more than adequate (if it were Swiss we would not have this conversation).
Citizen have made some great dive watches and I think this is towards the top of the list.
Citizen is on a bit of a roll! They've been gathering attention since that launched that Caliber 0200 watch. Their Caliber 0100 options are pretty sweet too, as are their Series8 watches. Now recently introducing the affordable Tsuyosa range with the NJ0150 line-up and a nice new heritage Promaster. Go on!

This one's not for me though, it looks off somehow. Maybe it's the small crown, maybe it's in the bezel, but there's something just not quite right with it. And for the money, I might rather go with some microbrand out there.
Hi Teddy, as an owner of the original Citizen 52-0110 (inherited from my dad and produced in 1977) I am absolutely in love with this watch !! Unfortunately the watch hasn't been available in my country Indonesia, so I am thinking of buying this online... Great video as always and many thanks for the review of thia watch... Cheers, Jeffrey

I have two Promaster Divers, the venerable BNand a BJ7111-51M Super Titanium GMT Diver. The latter is such a well featured watch, only missi g out on the " on the fly" bracelet adjustment. The watch is so confortable to wear. Excellent reviews as usual.
I've had quite a few miyota and valjoux powered watches that have rotor wobble. I think it's cool it reminds me that I have a mechanical watch. That's the same when people say things about when they can hear the movement ticking. I have vintage chronograph with a Venus movement and it's quite loud. If its dead quite you can hear it chugging along without it being close to your ear. I think it sounds awesome.

Paired with the lighter than expected weight from Titanium I'd forgive someone for thinking it's a cheap watch. The bezel feels exactly like a Timex expedition. The rotor noise to me is unwelcomed, in a silent room is sounds almost poorly lubricated, but most everywhere I never hear it.

I have had the basic Promaster for about two years. It has proven itself to tough, reliable, and the lume is fantastic. I only wear it when in the field or on the water. It's also worn doing yardwork or doing maintenance on yard equipment. I have a 6 7/8" wrist and it does feel clunky compared to other watches I have, but for around $250.00 it has proven to be a real bargain, and there's no need to worry about scratches or dings. When I stop working or playing to make lunch, the bezel is used to time the food being cooked.
That time regulation seems really solid for the Miyota
I have this watch and a seiko prospex gmt that just released this year. The lume in fujitsubo compared to seiko prospex gmt is more superb and powerful. The overall feel and look goes to the seiko prospex. But there is something in the fujutsubo that will captivate your heart. Seriously, dont hesitate to buy the fujitsubo. Youll'll love it just like i did.

Congrats! I handled the blue one on a watch expo and was smitten by how the light plays on the bezel, crystal and dial! Also the crystal is amazing, flat on top, curved on bottom, with a large beveling yet sunk to the level of bezel, simply amazing looking and very unique!
My rubber duckie holds up to arduous use in aquatic environments, he's called Herbie and he hasn't sunk yet.
Mine has +4 seconds a day. Oh my god! Super happy with this watch.
This watch is the direct re-issue of the Citizen model they call the “Barnacle” because the of the story told by Teddy in the video, which is true. Only, Teddy got the year wrong - it was 1983, not 1982. That model was also known as “Flyer Diver” because it was issued to Pakistani Air Force pilots for two decades. The only two differences are the case for the re-issue is made from titanium and the upgraded movement. Citizen dive watches, including this model, are meant to be tool watches - utilitarian made for a specific purpose and reliable and robust to withstand the elements. This is a true dive watch, just put it on a NATO or RAF strap and you are good to go.
Few weeks ago I bought the blue one and I love it.
Such a clean look. I like it!!
I actually think 🤔 that rubber strap on the black watch is. GREAT idea! I work in a manufacturing environment, and to be wearing some fancy bracelet type strap is just askin' for trouble. A rubber strap makes much more sense. If I'm not @ work, I'm outdoors doin' stuff, so that black watch with the rubber strap is much more practical.
Good review, the black on a strap really appeals to me. the head of the watch is just 54 grammes, that has gotta be appealing. Conbine that with great looks, what appears to be a great movement, beautiful sapphire crystal and great back story, what's not to like? My first dive waatch was a quartz Citizen I got for Christmas '91, it never let me down, but I cant think why I sold it. 20 plus watches later, Im tempted to go Citizen once again.
how does it fit on a 6.5 inch wrist? just wondering because of the prolonged lug to lug length of the bracelet.
I own the Titanium Eco Drive Pro Diver and absolutely love it! It's basically this watch without the hi beat movement at half the price. I'll stick with the Eco Drive.

AKA the Citizen Barnacle 👍
Im kinda new to watches, so far I have a Citizen Chronograph. Is this worth buying?
Not a Citizen fan, but I think this is a good thing. We need all the competition we can get, and, objectively speaking, taking out all the nuances based on pointless comparisons, it's an attractive watch with actual history.
One thing that surprised me was how large it wore. I had a SKX and thought that the larger case diameter and thickness would make this watch feel appropriatly small for my tiny wrist (I wear the smallest hole on the stock strap). Yet the lug to lug is longer than an SKX, so this watch is about the same width as my wrist where the SKX never came close to hanging off. The lug to lug makes it feel close to oversized while the spaller case diameter and thickness gives it less visual presence than a SKX009.
Wow! The latest 35th anniversary limited edition is even better with just 12.3mm thickness 😊
Miyota 9051 ? I cannot find any info on the 9051 Can you please elaborate? How is it different from the well tested 9015 ?
A head-to-head comparison with the more affordable citizen ProMaster diver titanium would be interesting.

I just recently purchased citizen Fujitsubo and Seiko Prospex GMT in a week. My first impression on the fujitsubo was it felt cheap and less appealing. When my Prospex GMT arrived, I was totally mesmerized. But after a week of alternatively wearing both, and consistently staring at them, there is something in that fujitsubo that will capture your heart. It's hard to explain unless you have the fujitsubo in your hand. I tell you, that watch has something in it. Perhaps it's style and design and the color. It will magnetize you. Just buy the fujitsubo and you won't regret it.

The weight is amazing. Weighs under half, and that is purely positive in my opinion, when the material is also harder and more corrosion resistant. I have a Baltic watch with a Miyota movement, and one of the things to notice is that the rotor is unidirectional so it will jiggle on the wrist occasionally. Similar to what happens to your Junghans Chronoscope
@Nefville

That's true, the rotor wobble. Funny thing you hear a lot about how that's a real negative for buyers in this category, sub-$1000 but when you get into high horology or even some mid-tier watches quite a few are unidirectional, maybe even the majority and I think the main reason is that it just thins out the movement. Some will say its more efficient but its only more efficient half of the time, so take that with a grain of salt.

This has to be my next watch I think. My Swiss HAQ diver just failed on me for the 2nd time in 4 years, and if it fails once more, I'm selling that "desk diver" and giving this one a shot instead. Looking forward to the utterly superior lume, but I don't know how I will handle having ana accuracy that is about 300 times worse (litteraly). Hopefully I can keep it to a few seconds by tactical positioning at night, instead of setting it every damn day. But the most important for me is the overall package here, not the movement. And this is the perfect package for me in terms of style and functionality, and from one of my favourite brands too. This watch has heritage, not only with its little backstory and being a re-iteration of an old design, but also by being a titanium watch from the first manufacturer that mass produced titanium watches. And with a nice (or even great for the price-point) in-house mechanical movement to boot.
