@blue 76: There’s definitely room for improvement! But after all it’s not a deal breaker in my opinion since this watch wears great on many type of bracelets. And compared to Seiko’s soft rubber straps (the ones on the Samurai etc.) it’s not that much of a dust magnet.

Did you know that you can change straps easily?

I have the NY0040 blue dial. Same watch essentially. I love these 8 o'clock crown Citizen automatics. Very unique.

Nice review. Got mine a few months ago, and love it. Put a Meyhofer silicone strap styled the same as the OEM. About to get the Titanium Anniversary Edition to complete the set :)

1330/2000 is mine from today! :-) I had some "research" for a diver's watch, was fortunate to discover it - could not really resist, only for a day in the meantime looking for some pros/cons, and then running into this review, thanks! :-) :-) Could resist to among others the Eco Drive BN0151 (was very comfortable, price is surprisingly low, looks way better than on pics) or Orient Mako III (only the shiny, jewel-like bezel made me think). I also got it in a standard brand box, but no worries, the watch is beautiful, really comfortable, size fits well on my thinner, 18-18,5 cm wrist, quality seems really fine, so guess I will be happy with it. I own the NY0086 on stock bracelet and love it . A fantastic alternative to the Seiko SKX .

Don’t laugh but right now I’m home waiting for my new old stock SKX011J Orange 🍊 boy to arrive lol 😂. I have the stock bracelet from my SKX009 so I’m going to put that on it once it arrives.

@@1968jpy Awesome! The Halloween/orange SKX would also be a great addition to my collection. I own the 009 and love the stock jubilee bracelet. The most comfortable bracelet I‘ve experienced so far.

I ordered the Blue color it came on a black strap i ordered a blue bracelet made exactly like the black one that came with the watch i really love the looks a lot more ! Very good review thank you....

I have the blue variant of this watch and although it's pretty, I have to say that this color is better (read: more versatile) and the classic NY0040 might be even more so. Think I might trade it in.

What's the differwnce between this and the normal, one E, version? You mention the red accents, but the ny0087-13E is labeled as the new 2019 version, with the red accents and the white text 200m (instead of red on the old one). So is it just an anniversary cap on the back?

@Liquid Pixels: thanks for your question! I haven’t seen the ny0087-13E. The only one similar to the double e one is possibly the ny0085-86ee that doesn’t have the red accent on the seconds hand and comes with a steel bracelet. Sorry, but this is the only information I have.

For the sake of versatility and maybe traditional reasons (closer to the one used by the Italian marine) the classic NY0040 in black without the bicolored bezel is probably the better choice. But since I personally wear this watch as a sporty piece and actually also time things with it, I prefer this limited edition model with it’s bicolored bezel and the red accents on the second and minute hand. @@watchyouwant1617 I finally got the NY0085 for euro 213. Monochrome dial & hands. Love the classic look except for the red quarter of the bezel. Certainly the blue lume is irresistable.

Nice review. This is titanium correct? I wonder if the NY0040 stainless bracelet would look good on this, or if it the 2 different metals would look weird.

@marshal bass: even tough it almost looks like it because the way they did the brushing of the front of the case, it’s just regular stainless steel (and not titanium) like all the other Promaster models. So I think that you can definitely wear it on the NY0040 stainless bracelet. All the best!

You’re probably referring to the 0085-86EE and this 0087-13EE, right? In this case apart from the fact that the 0087-13EE is a Limited Edition for the European market and the fact that the 0085-86EE comes with a steel bracelet and without the tip of red on the second hand are the only differences according to my information. Is the mechanism automatic wind on motion or it should be manually wound?

On that video at 2:14 it is clearly visible, but also at daylight you can see that it doesn't have the green tint that the NY0040 models have. I'm not so sure which I like better. What I do know for sure, however, is that I do not like that they use different kinds of lume on the hour markers and the hands on the NY0040. You can just tell with the naked eye at daylight that it's two different kinds of lume

Citizen is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Promaster series as well as the 50th anniversary of Citizen Europe. So, as far as I know, this watch is only available within the European Union. There are still several online stores that have it, e.g. on Chrono24 you‘ll find one.

@Michael Ringor: you‘re also right. It is confusing: Citizen is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Promaster series as well as the 50th anniversary of Citizen Europe. In my opinion having „30th anniversary“ on the back cover would have been probably better. Thanks for your comment!

Whattobuy ? i see, so europe edition was totally different from asia’s, i also noticed that the indexes are round vs with what i bought in indonesia, has the fugu at the back but doesn’t show the number for being limited

@Michael Ringor: that’s interesting! Before 2019 I wasn’t aware of the fact, that Citizen produces so many different (limited or not) editions for Asia, Europe etc. Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to get one during my trip to Indonesia and Singapore last summer.

What an half ar$$ed effort. I've been looking at the original Ny0040 for ages, this with the 9015 in it would be perfect.

either you were in stress or you forgot- ... you told us what we know-changing the strap, colour of the dial and all this useles bla bla.... but; what of a movemet is inside? Is it hackable? can you wind it? what is the width of the lugs?-20?-22? because usually by this size it uses to be 22...but what if it is less? all in all not a very helping video, next time I recommend jotting down some clues in words about what important to say during filming and not relying on talking us about colour of the dial or other evident matters-we can see it-it is a video....

My approach is not to mention to much about the facts you can read all over the internet but about the impressions you have holding a certain watch in your hands respectively having it on your wrist. 30 anniversary no 50

As a retired diver from the Cuban Navy ( now recreational ) I can say that the crown at 8 , is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen done to a watch . What a way of ruining a beautiful watch .

Retired diver or not, you never use the crown while diving so I don't see the relevance of you being a diver. The main idea was to free up your wrist completely and to avoid anything on the side of your left hand. I agree it looks unusual but it is for functional purposes, something a diver should appreciate.

HAHAHAHA! you know what? this watch is the most accomplished cheap diver on the market. buy it, receive it, size the strap up, wind it, tune the time, wear it and voilà! just enjoy life! while the SKX is, low QC, non windable, non accurate, less comfy and not better looking. well... poor SKX... all about brand hype and fanboyism.
