    Very nice review, I just ordered this off Amazon it is 42% off, $217. It is my entry level 1st purchase watch at 57 years old lol. Not including the cheap Timex I had when I was a kid. I love how easy the face is to read, When getting older too much clutter is not good in a small space. Maybe in a couple years will upgrade to a radio control higher end Model.

    I love the dial. It's very easy to look at, even with all that's going on. The overall size is a bit large for me. I'd put an aftermarket rally strap on it. I agree; for that price range there are sooooo many other great choices. Nice work, and thanks for all you do!

    I have this watch and I’ve put it on a stainless steel bracelet which looks really good. I have a few eco-drive watches, one of which is nearly twenty years old and still going strong. Also, my experience of Citizen customer service is very different to yours, maybe because I’m in the UK? I don’t know but they’ve impressed me a couple of times.

    I have this watch and I love it. I agree with your comment on solar battery replacement. I had an issue with a Seiko solar a few years back and the replacement cost was almost the price of a new watch of similar model. This does, IMO, make most solar watches at this price point disposable. Shameful

    As someone with an 8.25 inch wrist this is almost svelte looking, it wears smaller than it measures for sure. In fact the strap on my wrist, while comfortable, looked ridiculous and had to be changed which is really my only gripe with this watch.

    You can actually bypass Citizen all together & take them to any certified watchmaker with a Citizen parts account & get the batteries replaced by them instead or send them to companies like Stoll for replacement as well 👍

    Does the watch strap length include the watch case or just the strap itself, I have this watch but the strap needs to be about a 1/2 inch longer, I'm only Able to hit the 1st hole. The Amazon Tech information is incorrect, As it says 26 mm wide when it is clearly 22 mm wide. But I'm not sure if the length is measured including the watch or without the watch.

    I'm an automatic watch kind of guy but I bought this watch for a number of reasons. In no particular order they are: It's size. I have a 7" wrist too, but I'm tired of needing a magnifying glass to read the sub dials on smaller watches. It has a nice vintage look. The solar power and the eco drive movement is probably indestructible. 100m water resistance.

    Replacing a solar cell (capacitor) is only very marginally more difficult than a regular battery - there's just a little tab to line up. Same tools are needed. The cells currently retail for about $30. You need to look up the right cell for the movement of the watch. It seems harsh to judge any solar watch as being disposable - just take it to any jeweller / watch repairer to get the cell replaced.

  • @ShouldITimeThis

    @ShouldITimeThis

    Жыл бұрын

    If somebody is so inclined to do the job themselves, that is true. You're 100% wrong about "take it to any jeweler" though. Local places here in NJ that do typical battery swaps etc., don't mess with solar cells. Best thing they usually offer is for them to send it to the company for repair. It's NOT as straight-forward as replacing a standard battery cell, it's not as cheap, and not any person will do it for you. So the adjustment (for you) is: unless you want to replace the solar cell yourself, this watch is disposable.

    Even if you did have to bin it after 10 years, contrast that with getting a similarly priced automatic, esp a chronograph serviced. My Citizen automatic diver cost around £200. When it needs a service, will it be worth paying out for that ? It's a close call.

  • @ShouldITimeThis

    @ShouldITimeThis

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@stoater1551 The point isn't the cost of having it serviced - it's the fact that Citizen most likely WON'T service it. It's the idea that IF you were to fall in love with the watch, you'd have to find some 3rd party to fix it when it dies, and that's a sad situation to be in. Citizen (the brand / service - not the product necessarily) is an absolutely garbage company to deal with here in the US, so we have to look at them as completely disposable purchases or not buy them at all.

    @@ShouldITimeThis Few things about all that. 1. I have two eco-drives well over 10 years old that show no signs of slowing down. But when they do... 2. I live in a metro area where there are dozens of watch repair places within 50 miles, any one of which can replace the rechargeable cells in these watches. It's literally no more difficult than changing a disposable battery. What scares people off is the "Do not open, Service Center repair only" warning that Citizen etches onto the case backs of their DIVERS. Their fear is that there will be a flurry of warranty claims from people damaging the gaskets and therefore compromising the water resistance (or so the theory goes). 3. TBF like you I have little interest in Citizen's catalog of automatic watches. I believe Orient and Seiko offer much more bang for the buck in this area. I'm sorry to hear you had an atrocious experience trying to get an automatic serviced through Citizen USA (still your most watched video to date I believe). I have zero hesitation in buying their eco-drive or HAQ watches however, which ultimately are their bread and butter.

    I know I'm late to the party. This watch just came to my attention. Do you think it's a rip off of the original Breitling Top Time Deus Ex Machina limited edition (not the blue 2022 version)? Particularly with the tan strap option. The cream colour face and orange accents are very similar. I love the Deus Breitling, but they sold out before they even came on the market, which is why I'm looking at the (much) cheaper option. I wonder which watch came first?

    These "reviewers" understand that the lugs of a watch should never pass the curvature of the wrist - as per how watches were designed to fit on a wrist. The problem isn't reviewers - the problem is clowns who think giant chunky watches look cool. Anybody with an ounce of class or understanding regarding watches sees you wearing a house clock on your wrist and immediately know that you bought something to be noticed - you're not knowledgeable about watches.
