I would argue that the Omega Speedmaster is a bit more recognizable than the Rolex Daytona, but that's just me. But for once, I agree with you. These really are bargains. Well, most of them are. The problem is that when you're getting near the £3k range, you're crossing into Speedmaster territory. And let's be honest: when it comes to chronographs, there aren't many that beat the Speedmaster.

The Speedmaster Pro is definitely THE chronograph, but you can get 3 other chronographs with space heritage for under 500$: Poljot P3133 Sturmanskie P31659 Casio G Shock 5600
-Seiko Speedtimer solar chronogrpahs, best affordable panda dial (SSC813 and SSC911) -Bulova Lunar Pilot, best alternative to the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, "the other moonwatch" with rich history, also just released 43.5mm dial, should satisfy more wrist sizes than the previous 45-46mm dial -Timex Waterbury Chronograph and Q Chronograph, overall probably the best affordable chronographs on the market, great introductions to the style and functions of chronograph watches.

@@manuvns Who cares? Zhicao gave examples of very good watches. The automatic vs. quartz is like comparing diesel and petrol engines in cars. Everyone has different needs, so quartz watches are fine for me.
I’d add the Red Star seagull 1963. So pretty and damned reasonable.

The Seiko Speed Timer is my favorite sub-$1000 chrono. Really nice piece that can be had around $400-500 USD pre-owned.

I can get them new for around $450 us new.
All great choices. Thanks for sharing the Tudor. That's a new model for me... very nice.
I'd like to suggest that the Junghans Meister Telemeter be added to this list. Retro styling with a modern take from a watch maker who's been in business since 1861.
Another masterpiece, well done Andrew. See or hear you tomorrow. Thanks
Always Great videos. Would you make a review of “ Brellum “ Swiss watchs. Thank You!
I had no idea that the Tudor Black Shield existed! Love the look....
Really love this Baltic model. Would be hard to choose between this and the Maen Skymaster. Both have interesting colors.
It’s weird that seiko 8R48 chronographs don’t get mentioned although they aren’t bargain they have column wheel and vertical clutch which is pretty rare in many Swiss movements
Great episode, Andrew. Some beautiful timepieces for sure!
Great video. I have a Bamford B347 which could hit this list. In carbon it's stunning & with a monopusher it's super cool! I think it cost just a bit more than the intramatic
I'd add the Seiko FlightMaster, and the Seagull 1963.

Not expecting a Knight rider reference in your video but thank you for making me smile 😊
Orient neo 70s is a great cheap alternative, if you want to splash a bit more then the Tissot prx chronograph
I bought a Seiko SBTR027 from the Seiko Spirit collection. It was a great bargain at $120. Got it online and was shipped from Japan.
I suggest the Sugess Chrono Heritage SU1963BN. Offers the Seagull ST1901 Column Wheel Chronograph, Sapphire Crystal, 316L Stainless Steel, Blue steel screws and Exhibition Case Back Cover. Possible to get for a price below USD200. Hard to beat.
I'd add the Seiko Speedtimer (quartz) and Bulova Lunar Pilot to that list. That said I want to potentially get that Hamilton Intra-matic chrono at some point, it is just the price is a bit out of reach for what I'd want to spend on it.
Wow. That Tudor Black Shield is an amazing looking watch. Perfect example of what they produce outside of their Black Bay models.

Tudor did a nice job of homaging the rotary GS03010 😎
I am just in the process of getting myself an affordable chronograph with the mecha quartz movement. After long consideration I've managed to cut it down to few models.. 1. Forzo Drive king 2. Forzo Endura timer 3. Nezumi Voiture 4. Seiko Speed timer solar 5. HEMEL Air league 6. Yema Meangraph... Can't freaking decide...
The Marloe Atlantic has a very mid-century vibe, a Seiko NE88a automatic movement, and can be had for a whisker under £700. Their quality and finish is really good on all their watches. My Myota powered Marlow Consiton manual stands up under the most ridiculous scrutiny, not embracing itself against my Omega Seamaster in any way.
The new seiko speedtimer panda. I love it! ❤
Great video...the tudor has always been one of my favourites....but there's one microbrand you guys haven't reviewed or mentioned. BRELLUM I bought a pandial 3 years ago as it was simply beautiful.... What do you think? Worth including in the next microbrand review?
Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster is one that needs a shout out. Beautiful watch.

Its too small only 39mm
Longines Heritage Chronograph 1940, which I learned about... from this channel!
Great video, I own the Hamilton but love the black shield 🛡!!!! Going to hunt 😀 it down, now! I like the baltic too!!!
I'll throw in my Longines Grande Vitesse reference L3.636.4. Swiss made, automatic (Valjuox 7750), great looks, and very affordable. That's why I have one, LOL! I have the silver dial with black subdials.
Sugess are a brand that uses the ST19 movement and makes some wonderful chronographs at an extremely good price.
The Bulova Accuswiss Murren with a Selitta 500 inside was a steal when I bought it new for 399 dollars.
Tudor black shield is my favourite one
The Avigation Big Eye from Longines. Thank you.
Dan Henry has multiple models of mecaquartz chrons for less than $300. They range from art deco styling to 60's racing chronos. All very well designed and finished for the price.

They are absolute shite quality. Had one brand new and the minute marker and indices inside the dial started falling off after less than 3 months of normal usage. Missed the Junghans Chronoscope on the list...
I like the hanhart E417. And bulova Luna pilot.
I think the Tissot PRX Chrono is probably the best bang for your buck chronograph in its price point, but I can understand not including it if you want to highlight the Hamilton.

Agreed- a list of "bargain" chronos needs to include the best value for a cheono before any Tudor
My daily is a Bulova curved chronograph on bracelet. Sapphire glass on both sides and on bracelet it ticks all the right boxes
Also need to look at the Aragon Caprice Chronograph. Has a Seiko NE86 for under 1000$
Straton Speciale Automatic is killer.
What movement is in the tudor then? 7753 just looked it up!
I have three stunning new Tudor watches, now, that Tudor Black Shield is a stunning Chronograph watch 👍
In my opinion, the two best affordable movements for chronograph watches are the Seagull ST-19 and the Seiko mecaquartz. You have to shop around though because some micro brands are charging crazy prices for them. A very nice watch with a ST-19 can be had for under $200 US, a mecaquartz for under $100. Don't get ripped off and pay more.

And the P3133 / P31659.
excellent choices!
I would add the Seiko Speed Timer, which also comes in all black now.
The Hamilton is my aspirational watch.
More choices: - Dan Henry 1937, a mecha-quartz model that does not advertise it's quartz because it lacks a regular second hand (same movement as Furlan Marri). I'd get this over a MoonSwatch any day. - Hanhart 417 models, mechanical chronographs available with or without a flyback chrono movement, in 39 and 41 mm sizes. - Longines Avigation Bigeye. I've ordered the watches in order of increasing prices and readability. Of course, from a pure practical standpoint any cheap Casio digital watch beats the cr@p out of any analog chronographs.
I'm a sucker for the venerable Valjoux 7750, and more so the Valjoux 7751 with it's full calendar complication.

Marloe Atlantic, Yema Speedgraf, Balticus Grey Seal Chrono, Balticus Stellar Dust Chrono, Bell&Ross Bellytanker Chronograph, Eterna 1948 Chronograph Telemeter Manufacture (Flyback), Tissot Telemeter 1938 Valjoux, Tissots Heritage 1948 and 1973, new Tag Heuer Autavia Chronos.
Most recently, it would be the Tissot telemetry and Longines Record Chrono, those two are just... *chef's kiss
Federique Constant flyback. Not quite a bargain, but overlooked.
If you are allowing the mechaquartz, then surely the Bulova Lunar Pilot is the ultimate affordable chronograph with an amazing history and ultimate precision, not to mention ditching the unnecessary 24 hour subdial for a .1 second subdial.
I'd add the Seiko Speedtimer (solar) and the new one from Timex. I stopped wearing battery powered watches altogether because they will inevitably let you down in the worst possible moment. I could make an exception for the Timex because of that battery hatch. You can easily always carry a spare.
@calvinchann1996

All solar powered batteries have a battery to store the charge. All batteries have a finite life so will need to be changed eventually.
Never understand why Daytona is so hyped 🤷
Excellent commentary
I haven't seen the bulova surfboard mentioned yet
Citizen Blue Angels or Seiko Flightmaster ... Seiko Coutura perpetual, Seagull 1963 or any of the Seagull or Sugess designs (I actually prefer the Sugess designs) with an ST19 automatic movement - some with swan neck (find me another automatic chronograph for under $500?). Bulova Lunar Pilot ... yes it is quartz but high frequency and the 'been on the moon' heritage. Brew Metric, Dan Henry, Stratton Speziale, Boldr Venture titanium Chronograph.
From the title I expected Tom to be here! Great video none the less
That Hamilton is absolutely beautiful
I guess you excluded as them as the lower end ones are quartz but I’m a big Seiko fan so some of the prospex speed timers, especially used, deserve a look if someone after great looking , great value , well made chronograph
I will note that, while the Furlan Marri is a gorgeous watch, I find the boulder of debris at about 4 o'clock on the left subdial irritating. That said, if I thought I could drop $5-600 on a watch without the wife flaying me I'd be giving this watch very serious consideration.
Love how the video is about affordable chronos and then it includes most over USD 1500 or more
Tissot PRX Chrono is a relative steal.
I would also say the Tissot PRX Chronograph is an amazing watch.

Oh how timely, just as I'm eyeballing a new chronograph, looking at you breitling premier...
I have the Le Jour Le Mans Chronograph, works great because i don't use the function
My capacity is less than your selection. I was going to buy a tudor but decided that I would like to have more cheaper bands for the flavors of others like seiko seagull and vostok for the same money. Or my car. Hehe.
Love the Hamilton !!!
Baltic is a great brand, producing very nice watches
Forzo also make some bargain chronographs but getting a bit pricier of late.
That Tudor is niiiice
Yes, the Baltic Peter Auto costs CHF 1'800.--. But not only because of the "Swissness": As cherrys on the top of this cake, you get two super cool stopwatches ;)
10:56 hi Andrew Cw has some amazing gmt chronos
I was hoping to see the Avigation BigEye haha, good list nonetheless
Don't need it for boiling an egg, but I use mine for ramen, quiz questions in the class room, and figuring out how fast my car with a broke ln speedometer is going.

@@seanmurphy5427 thanks for sharing though. I'm pretty new to watch collecting and am still convinced that replicas are some of the best value for money when it comes to purely buying and enjoying a watch for yourself. I'm not against buying authentic, though it would take me far longer to achieve something of the quality clones offer for fractions of the cost. Specifically when talking chronographs, the value is insane with clones. And u get the cloned dimensions of the in house movements which make for incredibly well fitting, slim chronographs. If you are totally against what i'm saying, i understand and apologize for the rant. But i wanted to give u insight on where im coming from and say thanks for enlightening me on a new watch.

I just bought one, and I have twiggy wrists too 6" wrists. But yet if I was to offer any advice don't buy bulk and poor quality. If you wanted best money hands down. Hamilton all the way. WW2 history been around the block. And vast range of quality for money. Not one person could ever criticize it. Buy what suits you, though. Yet I wear 60% of the time the g shocks. Can't beat them literally. 🤣
That Baltic watch is beautiful. The yellow and orange touched are refreshing 💛 🧡
The Hamilton...Yes!
To echo comment section, it's a travesty that Seikos Speedtimer isn't here. Not just because it's an absolute bargain, but because it's better looking than MOST of the watches here
The Omega Speedmaster 125th anniversary with the cal. 1041 is IMHO an absolute bargain at the moment. You can get a unique looking watch with space history (over 145 days non stop in space) horological significance (first chronometer certified chronograph) and produced in (very) small numbers for 1/10 of the price of a Daytona… Not to mention that the evolution of the cal. 1041 movement is now used only by Breguet for their five fingers chronographs…
It’s a real shame that so many affordable chronos use the VK mechaquartz series of movements. The 60min scale is illegible. The 24-hr indicator is useless, and many don’t have running seconds. Compared to Ronda 5031.D, the VK fails to deliver. It gives the look without the functionality. I really wish Seiko would modify it or discard it.
Anyone ever owned a Hoffman Racing 40? Is it good?
Mühle Glashütte Teutonia IV Chronograph?
The Tudor is a bargain because its ceramic case. The bb chrono is a bargain because it gives access to movement that can be had for 3k more with Breitling. Longines has a hew note worthy good value for money chronos. The Speedmaster is still a bargain all things considered. As are Zenith's El Primeros. Unfortunately there are few options between 3 and 8k with an exhibition case back. That's what I would find attractive... The Spirit Pioneer, but in SS and with a sapphire back... I'd pay for that, even if they keep it at 16.5mm thick.
Seiko prospex?
Longines Heritage Military 1938 Chrono is my choice.
I agree with most of the picks but the seagull 1963 should have been on this list because its the only mechanical chronograph which can be bought for less than 300$
