    Fun Fact: Cinderella actually never had interest in nor meeting the prince nor marrying him, she just wanted to have fun and attend a ball. She never knows while dancing with the Prince that is actually him. She actually finds out she danced with him after the ball when Lady Tremaine reads the letter about him finding the one girl that fits the sleeper so that is why she whispers "the prince" and lets the things in her hand fall to the floor out of shock!!

    Cinderella is an amazing role model. I’ll forever be peeved that her story has been misinterpreted through-out time to the point that people believe that Cinderella is anti-feminist. 🙄 Cinderella is a example of how if you believe in your dreams, never stop working hard, and be kind and optimistic good things will happen. She was abused and forced to be a slave in her own home, and STILL held on to kindness and her dreams. That’s extraordinary. I will forever say it, Cinderella was NOT sitting around waiting for a man to come save her. She worked hard, was optimistic and kind, and all she wanted was a night off. Fate rewarded her for her hard work and endless belief that things will get better if you keep on believing and hold onto kindness. ❤️

    That's a good theory. Except Cinderella, actually, was wearing shoes that the slippers turned into (in other words, they were transformed just like everything else was). In my mind, the reason the slipper stayed was simply because the Prince had the other one. Obviously, this is just my own theory but, that was always my assumption as a child: that the Fairy Godmother could not make the slippers disappear while one of them was still in the Prince's possession. Granted, I don't really think the "rules" of the Fairy Godmother's magic are really that hard and fast anyway. Even if Cinderella didn't realize it, her Fairy Godmother always knew she was sending Cinderella to the ball to meet the Prince. And by leaving the slippers, her magic is just continuing to help bring them together (i.e. this was probably all part of her plan from the very beginning). That would mean that the Fairy Godmother was secretly not only granting Cinderella's original wish to go to the ball but, also, her much deeper wish for true love & family that she wouldn't have ever dared ask for.

    I recommend the 2015 live-action Disney version starring Lily James, Cate Blanchett, and Richard Madden (Robb Stark from Game of Thrones). Lots more backstory for Ella and the Prince. Also Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother/Narrator. Only one song is sung (multiple times) and most of the dancing is at the ball. The dress and the transformation scenes are stunning. If you do watch it make sure you listen to the three songs during the end credits. One, "Strong", is not heard during the main movie in either Disney version, Lily James sings "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes", and Helena Bonham Carter sings "Bibbity Bobbity Boo".

    I would love to see you watch the Wizard of Oz; I would argue that WoO was directly responsible for the entire genre. Have you done a video for a musical yet except the Disney movies? As much as you love sumptuous cinematography, several exceptional examples would be Gigi, My Fair Lady, Chicago, Cabaret, and especially Moulin Rouge! You mentioned in the early part of this video about the possibility of watching some of the live-action remakes. I would highly suggest that when choosing one of the live-action ones to watch, you watch the animated OG first. More often than not, the live-actions bring nothing new to the story (or if they do bring something new, it's often unnecessary filler that adds very little except runtime), and suffer from the inability of the CGI replacement characters to emote as expressively as their animated counterparts. I'm not saying they're all bad, per se. I quite liked the Jungle Book and Cinderella remakes, but others (*cough cough* I'm looking at YOU, Beauty & the Beast, Lion King, and Aladdin) are simply meh. And there's one I outright despise in its entirety, MALEFICENT. Sam, you mentioned how perfect you thought SB was, and I agree with you. Maleficent takes everything beautiful about that movie and stabs it in the heart on the altar of Disney apologist and moneygrabbing culture.

    4:32 Actually, Cinderella's father married Lady Tremaine because he wanted her to have a mother figure again in her life (at least that is what they say on the live action movie!) Sadly he died no long after marrying her so Lady Tremaine hated her because she had to see the person he (her 2nd husband) loved the most in the world and reminded her a lot to that since she actually married him to make sure they had money to survive because Lady Tremaine's first husband had died and they didn't have almost anything, so there you go. Her father married looking for a mother figure for Cinderella and Lady T married him to make sure she and her daughters had enough money to survive through those times. (Im sorry if this is too long, I don't know if I explained myself clearly 😭✋)

  • @SwiftFoxProductions

    @SwiftFoxProductions

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, Cinderella's father remarried because he wanted Cinderella to have a mother (which is implied during the opening when it's mentioned that he believed Cinderella needed a mother's care). Lady Tremaine would have seemed like a perfect choice to him because she already had two daughters of her own. The fact that she seemed like a "good mother" to her own daughters clearly made him assume that she would be a good mother to Cinderella too. Unfortunately, he was wrong and she was not as nice of a person as she had led him to believe. The narrator says that her cruelty did not reveal itself until after he died. In some versions of Cinderella, the stepmother really did love Cinderella's father but, to me, it seems very clear in this version that she didn't care at all. You can see how she reacts when Cinderella is crying at his deathbed. She seems to have married him simply for the wealth and status (which is pretty consistent with the original fairy tale). Lady Tremaine is cruel to Cinderella because, to her, a sweet/pretty girl like Cinderella is really big competition for her own daughters (and she's really not interested in raising Cinderella as a third daughter). By keeping Cinderella down, she believes it will help her "real daughters" look better. Especially when it comes to finding a husband. I have, actually, seen this happen in real life with a stepmother pushing a stepdaughter aside to bring more attention to "her own" kids so, it does happen (as awful as it is). P.S. What happens in the 2015 live-action movie is not necessarily the same as the animated. It's inspired by the animated version but, they put their own spin on the fairy tale, as well.

    The remake clarifies that Francis, Lady Tremaine's first husband, was a friend of Ella's father (whom I'm going to call Ben because Ben Chaplin is the actor) - and when Francis had died, Ben was concerned about Lady Tremaine and Anastasia and Drizella's welfare, and thus offered to marry her. He had also thought that it would be good for Ella to have sisters, and the girls were sneaky enough to not be cruel to her until Ben had died.
