The DA is completely out of touch with the poor of our country. They will never govern the country while their priorities are with the rich and the middle class. South Africans will not be free until the poor is uplifted, and the vulnerable looked after. People who are hungry and desperate do not care about garbage collection. There still are places in our country where people do not even have running water. . There are MANY townships in our country that has never seen a DA representative, or campaign in their community. Ask yourself, are the DA actually interested in governing SA? It does not look to me like they are.

DA really trust this young guys, Tshwane, Cape Town and the guy in KZN. If what he is saying is true, this explains why Mangaung, Johannesburg, Ethekwini and Ekurhuleni are in such a mess.

Actually his pronunciation is 'Chuane' or 'Chwane', which is not quite right. Tshoane and Tshwane are pronounced the same, one is Sotho, the other Tswana. But yes, the guest's pronunciation is the correct one.

He effectively took over from Randal Williams of DA. DA has been in charge for 8 years now. How many more years do they need?

Disappointed that Mike did not ask Mayor Brink about the "party for minorities" trope.

Cilliers is my man. He walks all over the interviewer with his political intellect. SONA hate the thought of a DA victory, and of seeing their beloved ANC/EFF/PA coalition fail.

The mayor is probably speaking about centurion, mooilkloof and them. As for where i am in north of Pretoria i am yet to see one pothole being fixed.

2 things disappointing me so far: 1. the little push back re: water and corruption in Tswane as well as the DA's role in it/inability to control it Not saying this is definitively the case but the interviewer could've asked much more probing questions here. 2. Eskom burning diesel to keep the lights on and help the ANC do well in the elections is something that people believe informally and has been dispelled by Eskom using data. If the media i.e State of the Nation is gonna adopt this skeptical BELIEF, at least do so with data. Otherwise you may be seen to be supporting the DA's electioneering strategy on Eskom - to accuse them of campaigning for the ANC in spite of contrary evidence - and thus not neutral.

Johannesburg is a disaster

Militias would be okay if they would be anything like the US militias: strong discipline and often an equally fervant commitment to the US Constitution. I feel that the SA equivalent would be far more partisan and ill disciplined.

Cilliers. You, Chris, Geordin, Solly , Siviwe are great. John and Helen have done well. But they are not growing the party. The black vote.

I think your out of touch with reality. There are no quick fixes for Tshwane. The municipality must be stabilised before all services can be restored. The rot is deep in the city. The mayor deserves your support if you can fully grasp the challenges he is dealing with.

@@MrLechesa no get your facts straight the 5 people who adjudicated that tender were from the previous (ANC) administration and cannot be willy nilly fired. They subsequently were dismissed after disciplinary hearings. The administration might have been DA (Makgopa's term) but they could not be fired for no apparent reason. It was cadres giving tenders to cadres. Accept it, the public service is filled with cadres and no new administration will stop their perverse ways without cause

I think everyone typing comments don't live in Tshwane, don't run a business in Tshwane. It's worse under the DA unless you live in the suburbs like myself where state resources are used to create estate like gated communities and have families in the Townships who are getting the worst services ever imaginable.

The ANC/ EFF sabotaged the DA all the way, collapsing Council Meetings, not passing Budgets, bringing endless fruvolous Motions of No Confidence in DA Mayor's, major SAMW ( ANC affiliated) strikes that broke all records, the ANC retaking control of Tshwane by placing the City under Administration, Taxi wars, the DA inheriting a bankrupt and dysfunctional Municipality etc etc Thank goodness that Tshwane is finally in very good and capable hands!!

The main reason why racists, and black and white supremacists/nationalists hate the DA so much, has everything to do with the fact that the DA is a liberal party.
