Julian is the only child of a celebrity that most fans seemed to accept as a musician in their own right. He looked and sounded similar to his dad. There were also some good songs on Valotte. Even so, he was smart enough to realize he should pursue a different career ultimately. There’s no competing with a celebrity parent, especially a Beatle. Julian is now a successful photographer and occasionally records music. I really respect the guy

I think Julian stumbled the lyric at 2:19 at "strumming", because he loses the harmony and starts singing in unison, then they seem to do eye contact and Chuck is like "yeah go go" as in no worries encouragement for Julian to keep going and nail the chorus, which he does

John realised towards the end of his life he had been a terrible father to Julian and was really trying to bond with his son. He began phoning him more often (he actually played the whole Double Fantasy album to Julian down the phone before it was released and wanted Julian's opinion and thoughts on it), for his 17th birthday he wanted to give the gift of a painting of the two of them. Near his death he told Julian to look out for a white feather whenever he would pass away and Julian would know his dad is fine and he's looking out for him. Julian was presented with a white feather by a tribe and he believes it really was a sign from his father like John said all those years ago, so Julian created a charity and called it the white feather foundation. Also, John was writing diaries in the mid 70s onwards and he told his personal assistant Fred Seaman in Bermuda 1980 that if anything was to happen to himself in the near future then he'd want Julian to have his diaries as he felt they could help Julian get to know his father better and John felt Julian deserved to know more about him. When John did die, Fred tried taking the diaries back to England to give them to Julian as John wanted but Yoko got him arrested for stealing property and Yoko got them back. Julian has never seen those diaries, even though it was what John wanted. A quote from John in 1980 is: "I hadn't seen my first son grow up and now here's a 17 year old man on thd phone talking about motorbikes. I was not there for his childhood at all. I was on tour, I don't know how the game works, but there's a price to pay for innattention to childen. And if I don't give him attention from zero to five, then i'm damn well gonna have to give it to him from sixteen to twenty, because it's owed. It's like the law of the universe." Also, Julian said in 1988 in an interview for a documentary called Imagine about John he said "There was no wall facing us anymore, but it had been knocked down and we could actually (pretends to be on the phone) 'hi dad I'd like to come and see you is that okay?' 'Yeah'. It's hard to explain emotions in dealing with that situation especially when we were getting so close."

@@rooseveltdumornay4954 oh I could go on and on about Yoko, she's done some awful things to John, his family and specially his son Julian like telling John to stay away from Julian and he stupidly agreed to it and didn't see Julian for 3 years. She wouldn't let Julian talk on the phone to his dad and when John died she sold off Julian's postcards from his dad and other memorabilia that Julian had to buy back with the money he inherited from his dad. By the way, he had to go to court for that money because Yoko wouldn't let him have it.

A really nice thing Chuck did for Jullian here. Helping him be close to his Dad in a way since they did a duet in the 70's. Must have helped him a lot in the grieving process.

The affection & chemistry here is amazing. What a big heart Chuck Berry had.

You missed the point. With 'Chuck Berry said in his song: "You never can tell"' I meant you never can tell who your real father is. Ask Ronan Farrow (Mia Farrow's and Woody Allen's son who is a Frank Sinatra lookalike!)

It’s been over 30 years since I heard this performance. Now as then I am struck by the intensity of Julian’s vocals & the affection between Julian & Chuck Berry.

The hug at the end was beautiful ❤️

I didn't know Julian can sing that good! He's awesome!

Julian looks like John because Cynthia kind of looked like John,too(especially in earlier pictures).

John must have been so happy and proud from heaven...directly!! Way to go.

I guess you were ready ready for that one... And your kid's gonna love it!

This performance is so filled with joy and exuberance and fun!! It's actually so different from that strained toneless performance from John when he had the chance to play with his idol but his significant other upstaged him (not in a good way). Julian is the man!

This was excellent. Chuck Berry and Julian Lennon together performing one of the great rock and roll songs. Chuck was definitely the leader of rock and roll and was the pathfinder for everyone who came after.

It`s a great great shame nobody "looked" after Julian Lennon in this period! Julian was a great talent. Hey. When a "dude"/legend like Chuck Berry recognised Julians talent, there must been something to it. Julian really was great a talent. With better friends etc he would have made it!!
