Christopher Hitchens on God Is Not Great - The John Adams Institute

On February 13, 2008, The John Adams Institute hosted an evening with Christopher Hitchens. He dismisses Hillary Clinton as “an aging and resentful female” and, regarding Barack Obama, he asks, “why is a man with a white mother considered to be ‘black,’ anyway?” Christopher Hitchens is one of America’s most provocative public intellectuals. In his book, God Is Not Great - a runaway bestseller in the U.S. - Hitchens goes after organized religion with both barrels blazing. Why is the West in such a heightened state of insecurity? Hitchens gives a three-word answer: “Religion poisons everything.” And if all religions are dangerous, Islam, he says, is the biggest threat because “it’s unalterable.”

How come he could not admit his freemasonry = requirement to believe in a supreme being ? And was a radical marxist ? How come not 1 once his world affairs opinions proved to be right ? How come the result of new atheism breaking up european churches was them being looted by the aristocracy followed by them beginning to help themselves to free land from the national parks of europe ( including Dartmoor - The Lake District - The Derbyshire Peaks et al - none of which are regarded as 'Public' anymore now that the concept of 'public weal'th' / land appears to have been abolished ? How come your kin will need to pay a toll to a aristocratic tyrant just to visit the countryside in the future ? Because the man was always a lightweight, only elevated to such large status falsely by ignorance. A mere useful idiot that didn't have the sense to avoid plotting against BRITAIN. And lets face it the pigs oratory was ugly crap much of the time aided by religious people who had also sold out during the same looting purge & were going along with the stage management = being dominated by New Atheism. We even have an oil executive as archbishop of canterbury I'm an ATHEIST = a non theist ( not a Nu Atheist ) who was always aware of their snidey anti british social engineering company that existed on the side. NA including Hitchens in particular = full of radical marxist reification sht, specially the red herring that it took to seem as though they really did stand with Britain!!!!! And he has the neck to discuss Tyranny nin this video after helping to design the first wave of WOKE for the globalists cabals.

@@munyaradzikennethdodzo2655You'd be mistaken if you thought he was unaware of this. Below is an excerpt from his book - Letters to a Young Contrarian: "Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the ‘transcendent’ and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don’t be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Really well places to go without paying tyrants tolls after he helped them crush religion in europe & they looted the churches are rapidly disappearing thanks to Hitchins. Having tasted church looting blood, the aristocrats only wanted MORE riches and LAND. Thats why they now deem the concept of public land null & void and have begun helping themselves to free slices of DARTMOOR - THE LAKE DISTRICT - THE DERBYSHIRE PEAKS and every national park. The churches had to be damaged badly in order to infiltrate them with fakes - seize control - loot - render them powerless. - new atheism inflicted that damage. In terms of the way this would lead to ALL BRITISH LAND becoming gamne for aristocratic plunder the therm'Useful Idiot' would be a far more accurate description of Hitchens. New atheism who incidentally designed and sold the first wave of WOKE to the cabalists. Hitchens was merely a lightweight who helped the aristocrats abolish the freedom to roam the environment given they are already expecting TOLLS. Like ALL new atheists he targeted things for aristocrat cash & didn't care or understand the consequences. He was like other new atheists suspected of being a freemason thus required to believe in a supreme being. This video shows him discussing matters anyone could as theres nothing special nor extraordinarily 'elegant' being stated by the oaf. I'm non theist but was never taken in but these new atheism scamming & could see through the plotting against Britain all along when it came to the attack on churches. Hitchens did creep up carefully by discussing various religions yes - added more realism and backs the theory he was foolish rather than treacherous. After all when out to steal trillions from under the public nose & cancel their ability to use the environment ( because you took public land ) what else is there to tempt but stupid pigs like Hitchens now you cannot frame people over sexual preference to do that for you ? = ? = yes a stupid pig like Hitchens is the answer. He'll not notice the real agenda, not understand the phenomenology & be drunk the entire time into the bargain. 'Elegant Intellectual giant etc etc etc my FOOT! - the radical marxist cretin helped design they way the richest people in europe could take britain into private hands for FREE & now they want payment for wherever we go in the guise as climate taxes. In a few decades these changes just for going out will be taking place over every Inch on Britain that was PUBLIC LAND / HIGHWAY & that money will be going to the tyrants for their own pleasure. Thus thats what they intend 'social justice' to deliver to THEM. Its also where kids futures have going & if we don't agree with them WAR with its conscription thats going to make sure we agree.

A simply superb example of a thoroughly incorruptible mind. He could not be persuaded, could not be robbed, could not be bought, sold or duped. He stood by his sound solid convictions & was completely rock steady & immovable. His wit & humour often erupted into contempt for the stupid, the incenified, the bent & the indoctrinated, the misguided, the simple & the blissfully ignorant. He was incisive and immediate in his dismantling of idiotic neurosis. He posed a significant & undeniable threat to all purveyers of superstitious control over weakminded humanity. I suspect he was likely deliberately infected with some form of carcinogen to silence him. He devoted much of his life to releasing humanity from the evil grip of debilitating mind control foisted upon us by those who use religion as a lever & a weapon to manipulate us. Many demented zealots feared him. I found him the most admirable human being to have ever walked this Earth. He preached pure unadulterated logic in a world crippled & restricted by manmade nonsense. We were immeasurably fortunate to share in the crystal clear wisdom of Christopher Hitchens. It is now up to those of us who appreciated him to pass on what he gave us. His work must be continued until all divisive and injurious superstitious infection is thoroughly erradicated.

One aspect of the 2LofT shows that the universe is winding down, usable energy is becoming less usable. It is clear creation had to be done supernaturally yet it is still denied because people are just too proud to accept that, among other things.

Wow, so you can't get enough of that dolt. Hitch who pretends to know the bible as he screws up on it over and over again including what faith means biblically. --"Faith is the surrender of the mind, it's the surrender of reason, it's the surrender of the only thing that makes us different from other animals. It's our need to believe and to surrender our skepticism and our reason, our yearning to discard that and put all our trust or faith in someone or something, that is the sinister thing to me. ... Out of all the virtues, all the supposed virtues, faith must be the most overrated”-- Christopher Hitchens Now, look at what biblical faith really means that Hitch the liar didn't even look at: Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. I think the same. It's far easier, it's far more comfortable for most to fit into society to give off the impression of belief, as this is sadly still seen as more normal, than to dare rock the boat or look argumentative by suggesting otherwise. I've noticed that a lot with people. You only have to look around during a wedding or funeral and when the time comes to 'pray', you'll hardly ever see anyone do anything but follow the tradition of the moment. Since being a very young boy when I first came to conclusion that, at the time, I considered the whole thing rather similar in nature to any other fantasy book, not to mention I couldn't understand how there were a bunch of these things each with their set of rules, their own book... I think at the time it seemed like a fan club of sorts. Anyway, I always found it fascinating that people when pressed would pass the Hitchens test and don't buy into the ridiculous stories, the mystical or magical, yet, you could all but guarantee they'd 'appear' to praying at the right times when required. I remember once being caught as looked down on, and around at everyone during one particular session by whatever the guy's title was, and I just stared at him thinking, "really. Are you genuinely sold on all this". His gazed broke before mine. I've genuinely always felt when entering churches like I believe I would if I entered a prison, or ex-torture chamber, there's something genuinely uncomfortable about these places, irrespective of whether they're the Notra Dame in Paris or some ugly modern attempt at a church or some several hundred year old village effort. From my experience not being part of the larger, wider, accepted opinion of the masses, is incredibly uncomfortable for many. Perhaps I understand that lack of wanting to stand out or attract attention, and I certainly understand a lack of caring for confrontation, but I do think religion is as good a measure of how disengenous people can be. Equally I've never understood why it's a social norm that people shouldn't talk about religion. I never understood that. I suspect this attitude originated from the religious because I don't think it's come from someone who knows they already have a ton of ammunition to ridicule and put down others!!!

I was brought up RC and I realised in adulthood that I had never believed it’s teachings. Even at 10 years old when I stopped believing in Father Christmas, (St Nicholas) I realised that all the other ‘saints’ were probably just part of an huge story to convince people that their lives were not their own, they belonged to ‘God’. I just knew, even at 10 that it was ‘fibs’, just like Father Christmas. Of course, I didn’t tell anyone, but I didn’t go to church again, except for weddings, funerals and baptisms. I made sure my 2 children weren’t brainwashed, but my eldest believes although he’s not part of any sect. Merry Christmas 🤣

You will review the new knowledge, be supported by a global community of professional rationalist/scientists who will try to find the flaws in the new information. Then, if it is the best available evidence at that time, you will admit you were wrong (at that point you differentiate yourself crucially from the totalitarian, the dictator, the theocracy), and you will move on - comfortable living with the complexity of the universe and with the only partial understanding of it by you and the rest of humanity.

Again , I note a lot of cherry picking from the faithful in the comments. It saddens me that religion has had such a detrimental effect on humanity. The catastrophes that we have brought upon ourselves in the name of religion is shameful and I hope those who hide behind their filth tomes feel it, only then may humanity have a chance. Only then, when they have emancipated themselves to we stand any chance of reaching our true potential.

Gods can’t exist, not only don’t. I do believe that most educated people actually have come to the same conclusion, even the clergy and those high up in the church. Admitting it is a different matter? In their quiet moments I’m sure they must say to themselves “ well it’s not looking good “?

It is the history of the poets ans scribes trying to account for this wonderful gift of life and creation. Then evil steps in against love. I have discovered life and creation are all about and are love. I have discovered that life and creation are about infinite perfection. And those who are evil do not know love and are quite defective just born blind to life's beauty and the perfection of all that is created.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

If the only thing necessary to prove the truth of an extraordinary claim were to demonstrate an ability to bewilder, there would be no more mysteries to solve. If he claims that he can bring the dead back to life, and in proof of that power pulls a rabbit out of a hat, that is hardly a demonstration of the truth of his claim; it is merely an example of his ability in the art of deception. If he claims that he can fly without wings and without the use of mechanical help of any kind, and in proof of his ability pulls another rabbit out of another hat, that is not proof of his ability to fly, but of his ability to lie, and he will without much hesitation be condemned as a faker. The demonstration of one thing has absolutely no bearing in proving the truth of the other, when there is no relationship between them.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned in communicating over the internet is avoid ironic statements at all costs especially when you're unsure of the nationality of who may read your comment. I think the big issue here is that large areas of the internet are infested with quick to anger, paranoid, extremely defensive American boys and young men with a clear emotional immaturity, and anything they don't agree with, or could be misinterpreted is instantly assumed to be an insult of them, their family, their nation, or whatever else they decide in the moment. Actually I still fail because I always assume it's natural to not agree with everything everyone says but that's a big rule breaker in forums. You can disagree with the video if it's the general accepted attitude of messages below it, but if they're generally in agreement, you have to follow suit or risk insult. It's very strange, and something I will never completely come to terms with.

To make the statement that "God is not great" is a childish thing to say, since if God is not (supposed) to exist how can he/it be any level of greatness? However it's more than childish because to what do we ascribe what we call 'greatness', for instance would we say the Gandhi (the man) was great, or what he achieved as being great? The reality is that making such statements can be attributed to a desire to sound informed/wise to the target audience, it has no real substance, or logic?

What Hitch was referring to was the fact that, as he often said, god is real in the sense that for many, their absolute faith in him creates a reality in which god is present, regardless of the fact there is no supernatural dimension. This is in part, the god Hitch is referring to. ‘God is not great’ is in fact a perfect title for the book, if anything is claimed, ‘greatness’ is at the heart of theistic belief. This simple statement isn’t intended to sound wise, although it is absolutely well informed. The ‘logic’ you say it lacks is the content of the book itself. That’s what a title does in these cases, it asserts the conclusion or atleast the question of the author, as demonstrated perfectly. The ‘childish’ tone you seem to have read the title in is of your own doing, clearly the statement is contrary to your own and it’s strength has made you feel condescended upon. In short, you’ve read too much into it, assuming it’s an attempt at witty ‘know-it-all’ cheapness when in fact it’s a simple yet eye-catching (and very successful) way of asserting his opinion.

Quite a few responders who prove Hitchens' points over and over again , one of them actually had the idiocy to tell us Jesus loves us all unconditionally. Why would any rational reasonable being want unconditional love from something that doesn't exist? They just don't get it due to their capacity for believing stuff without decent evidence and so probably never will. Hitchens searched for the truth about difficult questions, he didn't just make shit up.

On a semi-unrelated note, unconditional love is toxic and exploitable. No love should be unconditional. Is someone who is evil and cruel or hurts you on purpose deserving of love? It's stupid and naive at best. So saying Jesus loves everyone unconditionally means he's blind to cruelty, and it's an insult to those who actually deserve his love (I mean, if christianity was hypothetically real)
