She should’ve cut the reverb in her mic, and just gave us a dry vocal. However, i get the direction she was going for, she wanted it to sound like she was singing in a church.

Actually, she was off. You don't actually realize it until "Maria" there, and you wouldn't catch it unless you're familiar with the piece. Everyone caught up though.

The voice is supposed to be able to go over the instruments because the piece was written for classical soprano singers, which have the training to sound very loud even without a microphone. This happens when you try to mimic the original arrangement using a pop singer.

But don't forget she's a human and they certainly ain't perfect and make mistakes. One example comes from Aguilera herself when she messed up national anthem line at Super Bowl. That didn't stop her from singing at stressful events (to perform) such as Kobe's memorial and Etta's funeral. That's why I give her props. I think I might see a bit of bravery with no excuses there. Plus, that Super Bawl performance wasn't pre-recorded like highly praised Whitney Houston's one.

Coming from a Stantina, you almost forget she can actually sing without *oversinging* everything. Proof: SHE CAN! Well done Chrissy! Made us proud!!!

My goodness. They could not have found anyone better to sing this gorgeous song. What a beautiful, powerful performance.

She sang this well, but who the heck was running the sound? I could barely hear her most of the time cause the strings were so loud.

I think it was just her voice. She had trouble singing over the instruments. Maybe more rehearsal time or someone with a softer voice who can sing over the music would have been better. I praise her effort and compassion to give a good performance, though.

Since she's been touring a lot again her vocals have become super good again. Just like muscles you need to keep training your vocal cords and after she gave birth to her children she had stopped performing. But she's in prime shape again now :)

Continues to show that she is The VOICE!

Classic. Timeless. Compassionate. Understated in the best way possible.

As soon as she sang “ave maria” I started crying. This was such a beautiful tribute. She was very controlled in her singing when she can normally be over the top.

This woman is just jaw dropping! Her voice is TALENT!

Imagine being able to sing this piece, Christina has a voice of an angel.

This is not a show, this is a proper tribute. Perfect ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡. The best voice left in present times.

The sound is like coming from the sky.

Some of these comments are so embarrassing. People criticizing the rendition of a song in a memorial service, this is not some singing competition or some concert. RIP Kobe and Gianna.

This is the best version of this I've heard, the orchestration was beautiful, stadium accoustics gorgeous and vocals that weren't overdone.

Finally she sounded like herself from the early years, not over doing it, brava! 👏🏻

She still kinda over did it tbh. Adding vibrato and vocalizations where there needed to be none. It felt more like a performance for the stadium and less like a contemplative moment of reflection over the loss of a friend.

I must admit, that I prefer her whole package over the others and here is why, she dressed black! Sang a song which is one of the most peaceful religious songs ever and it felt so on point, calming and nourishing..

Beyonce wore GOLD. Alicia Keys wore PURPLE Plus, it was a Celebration of Life. When my Mom passed, we all wore different colors. The color BLACK does not have to be worn at a funeral..especially for a Life that is Celebrated! I think they all performed beautifully for the Bryant family!

I've watched Christina grow up from a cute teeny bopper to this magical grown up woman. It's amazing to see the transition. She ages like fine 🍷

It's so interesting to hear a pop version of Ave Maria. It shows the flexibility of this masterpiece by Schubert and her flexibility as well. Great pop singer and amazing voice. Her sincerity is touching too.

Her voice is not underrated it’s iconic hence the voice of a generation! What a performance 👏🏻

She is incredibly shunned by the media. Not a single mention on any of this celebrity shows, they only mentioned beyonce, A shame because this performance is breathtaking and it tares at your heart strings. She is a legendary vocalist. She sounded absolutely stunning.

It's just the youtube bias that decided to put this one on trending although it has less views. Regardless both were beautiful and touching performances.

She has a lot of reverb on her voice. This song can only ever be sung by a classically trained singer. She does not have the power to reach those big notes smoothly. Good attempt but no Dame Kiri

@@CQuinnLady the reverb is not intentional!! This is sound engineers messing it up. It clearly does not sound clean and she usually doesn't use reverb (unlike Beyonce). This is sung in a pop way, no comparison possible with opera. This is like comparing apples and oranges. My comment was strictly talking about pop voices.

One of my fav performances of hers!!!!

I love that her voice has this deep, heavy, almost heroic quality when she belts. Combined with her light, delicate head voice. It’s not everyones cup of tea, especially if you expected a “prettier” interpretation. But it was very emotive. Well done.

I’m not catholic and I am not a fan of basketball, but this is beautiful, and using Latin was brilliant. I wish she had sung the whole song. Thank you.

This song will never be the same to me. When I was 22 I lost a good friend and his grandparents played this at his funeral. Grandad on the piano and granny on vocals… it makes me cry every time I hear it.

This is so very holy performance, her voice is from heaven
