In around 1993 Pavarotti came to Japan. My uncle and I went to listen to his performance. His voice was powerful beyond our human comprehension. My uncle and I talked about how he sang "like a stereo". This my favorite uncle is with the Lord and with Mother Mary. He lives in my heart and in every beautiful music note. Forever.

I agree with you 100%. And I do believe song and music to be the purest form of entertainment we have developed. I have an argument that ‘clowning’ comes a close second. (I mean clowning in a non verbal chat at of expressing a feeling or emotion). Something universal that does not require language, that a human of any age can understand and learn form. It’s a thing that requires human ext to comprehend and often teaches something. I’d argue that through how Pavarotti does what he does, he crosses the barrier between singing and clowning and actually does something that transcends the both. No competition intended, I just think that there are some things that are so special, they are hard to define.

I'll just judge the music. He was a mastermind because of hard work and exercise. I am just a simple punk. But when I hear Pavarotti's AVE Maria I'll cry like a little baby. And that is what I'm thankful for.

My grandfather said it wasn't Christmas until he heard Pavarotti sing Ave Maria.
Ave Maria. Masterpiece. When I hear this, I always want to cry.

God did indeed gift Pavarotti with a beautiful voice, but can we also take a moment to appreciate the incomparable beauty of Our Lady? Who deserves such a beautiful performance to venerate her.
Salve Nossa Senhora! Linda interpretação de Pavarotti.
When I was twelve years old, my mother insisted that I learned to play this piece of music. I hadn't heard it before and I wasn't particularly interested, but I did learn to play it. Now, over 30 years later, I hear this piece sung by Pavarotti and I fully understand why my mother wanted me to play it. When I listen to this now, my eyes fill up, both because of Pavarotti's wonderful performance and because of remembering my late mother.

What a voice, what a song. This man was a gift from heaven, utterly magical. Sleep well Luciano.
Credit to Schubert for this absolute masterpiece
The thing about Pavarotti is he is doing unbeleiveable things with such ease as if he was almost bored. Just awesome.
A light went out in the world the day he died and that wonderful voice left us.
I saw Pavoratti in Rome in the early 80's when I was 12. Talk about getting an ignorant American pre-teen some serious culture! It changed me FOREVER. I can still picture the sun setting as Pavoratti sang Ave Marie.

The piece was written by an Austrian composer and has German language lyrics in its original form. But the whole world can sing it in whatever language it wants. Because it’s not the language, it’s the musical soul that counts!!! I think Schubert, an Austrian, would also see it that way.

Pavarotti was so big in the 90's that, in my backwater country (Nicaragua), in the aftermath of a turbulent decade, there were like 4 channels and one of them played this video every noon, either for the sheer beauty or the religious symbolism, I don't know. But every last person with a black & white TV and an antenna knew this man and this performance.

Its a fitting song for a funeral, Its based on a prayer, "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death." Im sure your mother is at peace.
