Have you ever seen the Hollywood film (Not tellin' ya which one, you gotta click) dream sequence set to "Just Dropped In (to see what condition my condition was in)" by Kenny Rogers & The First Edition? It's such a great song, and it's weird to get straight-up psychedelic rock from The Gambler! kzread.info/dash/bejne/lqOjtaiCpq_UXbw.html

I’ve said this before, now I’ll say it here. Even with the Country label around his neck, to me, Chris Stapleton is a dyed in the wool 100% Blues Singer! Yes there’s soul, yes there’s rhythm, but at his core, his essence, he is a Bluesman no doubt about it! Just my thoughts ladies and gentlemen just my thoughts.

Country music was never my thing, though I thoroughly enjoyed the outlaw wing of the genre. But that was a long time ago and, with a few exceptions, country was as lost as pop music - vapid and formulaic. But Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell are making some unbelievable music, reviving something that had died long ago.

He's this generation's Willie Nelson. People hear three songs on the radio and think they know a person's catalogue. Just like Willie has done it all, Chris can also do it all, and does. He can do it all from bluegrass to blues to RnB to jazz to country to rock. He's just that guy. People like labels, probably because most artists are fairly limited and excel in one type of music. Chris is Chris. He CAN do country, but he's not ONLY country. His roots are country. He's probably written 100 songs you've heard from other country artists.

The live performance of this song at CMA awards in 2021 was off the chain. Death Row is another very blues influenced song in my opinion. I was wrong is another song I love. Im medical courier and I drive overnights and Chris is what's playing all night!!

I know sometimes this gets said about artist a little too much sometimes. "True transcending once in a generation talent".But if he doesn't fit that I don't know who does. Chris is his own genre. Write song compose and arrange song. slay song. You just run out of adjectives to describe don't you ?

Cold is so far my favorite Chris Sapleton track. And in a way, the soulfulness and the strings reminded me of a great, classic blast from the past by Issac Hayes (1969). The song was written by Burt Bachrach and Hal David. Issac is on vocals, organ, arranged the orchestra and backed up by the Bar-Kays. This is the full version at 12:00 minutes. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6Cjo7trZ7qbebw.html
