Still brings chills, he just wants to come home, she, unknowingly tells him he’s useless at home. Heartbreaking.

I took it to mean she KNEW. He wanted to come home as a cowboy, and she didn't want the rodeo bum, she didn't want someone who won't help. Now the connection of her knowing to me was the second chorus. A place half this big demands a man as fit as you. Remember the first time it was a place this big. Sure she might not have realized it, but to me that was meant to be a hint she knew who the friend really was.

The story of my life. Except I'm a cop. I've had 13 surgeries all over my body over the past 23 years of doing this job. I walk like a 100 year old man. I'm pretty useless to my wife and kids. I can't do 3/4 of the things I did 15 years ago. I have 2 years to retire. I'm just trying to make it for them.. I'm sure I'll be dead within a few years after I retire, but at least my family will be taken care of. Thank you for this song Chris. So many men know your pain. RIP my Brother.

Dang that's rough man. I'm sorry. Former (French) cop myself... Got dismissed a few years after joining because of a hearing disability and was continually rejected during the 8 years I spent trying to get back in. But my heart is still with my brothers and sisters of the badge and gun, whichever country they serve. You make sure to reach your retirement and then take it easy and live it out well. After devoting your life to your country it's only right you get to live it out once it's yours again.

I understand what you're going through as I'm a corrections officer and am looking at going in for a 3rd surgery myself... the job just takes its toll. Be well my brother and enjoy that retirement and your family!

I met my husband 6 years after the car accident coming back from a branding that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He had been a cop of every rank from beat to federal, a cowboy, a father, and had spent his life sacrificing everything to take care of others. Now he was a severely disabled Indian living on disability on the poorest reservation in the poorest county in the US, paying child support, and living at home with his elderly widowed mother. He was 18 years older than me. And I'm here to tell you he was the best person that ever lived. I loved him from the second I laid eyes on him, and I will love him forever. He will always be the best part of my life and the best part of myself. For 24 years, I had to be the bread winner, and my city slicker ass had to learn how to run a household and a ranch the hard way. And I would do it all again in a heartbeat. He was loved for who he was, and I will continue to love him until the day I see him again and beyond. When you find the right woman, she will love you for who you are.

Ledoux is probably the best Country western singer, but there are too many great country singers to choose one. Merle, Waylon, Cash, etc etc. they're all great and can't be matched.

My dad passed away from a terminal illness. Until his dying moment he stayed a man to be respected. We all will pass but those that stay strong resonate the most. My dad excused himself from dinner to leave this world. My dad has my unwavering respect to be a example to follow. He never feared, only worried. My point is regardless of your situation stay strong and face life head on and God bless.

Chris, Ian Tyson, and Ivan Daines sing songs the way they were meant to be sung, with heart and a love of the country. I miss Chris and his singing. I wish I could find all his old songs I use to have on cassettes.

I always loved this song. Hard to describe the feelings it evokes. Kind of underlines the differences between male and female, how we try unsuccessfully to please them. Hell, I can't figure it out, but Chris' song is superb.

She just wants him home . She thinks he’s fine because he has talked and told her the truth. If she new what was going on she still want him . She love him and just wants him home . Rodeo is a hard life . And when your man’s gone doing what he loves . You as his wife take care of everything else . And if their no true communication she can only pray he’s ok. He has to tell her what’s happening to him honestly.❤

As Bronco rider you all ways in love with the ride but sometimes you just have to hang up your hat I had to after 11 years of it I broke every bone in my body the last time I rode a horse broke my face and I had to spend a year in the hospital I was mad and sad that it was over for me so if u get to walk away be happy that you get to find something new to fall in love with but you will always be a little sad and miss it
