Joel Swensen first timer here too. glad i stumbled on this video. anyone else need tissues? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 sick to my heart when i heard of his passing. just bleh. waiting for more details on what happened though! not sure i want to or can believe after all he went through, that this was going to be how he left the world. praying it was an accidental overdose (though that's no consolation) at least some closure can be found there....

I learned about Chris Cornell the first time I viewed the ending credits to the film The Promise. His song The Promise I found hauntingly beautiful nd was pleased to find it on YT.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Chris for being a part of our story in telling it with the power and grace of your voice. As a grand-daughter of a survivor I grew up hearing my grand parents stories of survival. My grandfather after returning from a hunting trip found his wife and two daughters murdered. He picked up his rifle and became a rebel fighter for a number of years, helping women, children and men escape. This just one of many stories from my family.

Today is a fucking sad day. #RIPChrissCornell

Scott Macleod it's not uncommon to feel a loss even with someone you didn't know physically. Chris shared some of his most personal and intimate feelings through his music, and i think the loss we feel is just as valid as those who were close to him. We obviously know there is a difference, but we were privy to his struggles and his accomplishments; many of us from the start of his career, right until his untimely and shocking passing. And for many of us, Chris was a light in the darkest of days..... However chris helped or touched your life, that is the reason you feel the loss.... and that is real, and valid. In our grief comes strength though... May his words and music continue to help you and others today, tomorrow, and forever. That is our gift to him!!!

Well, since this song is called The Promise, I suppose I oughta make a promise to never forget my favourite singer. I can't believe he's gone 😔

I discovered Chris's music only recently.. He never knew about my existence and before a couple of days, I never knew such an artiste lived here! And now, an insignificant mortal like me in some corner of the world who happened to discover this genius a couple of days before, is crying listening to his songs... If I imagine the pain and heartbreak of his wife and children I have to stop myself because I feel as if a wave of despair is crushing me. I know that sounds strange, but I'm naturally very empathetic to people and I feel their loss very heavily. This is such a beautiful song. It's a blessing and a curse, the way it can play with your emotions.

I grew up with Grunge, Chris Cornell was easily my favorite of the brilliant lead singers from that era. RIP, my man.

Exactly. He sang everything throughout the years. Last night I watched their last performance on here and found it so haunting, especially since I have seen him as a solo artist, in Soundgarden and Audioslave and the beginning especially was so off... and that final song and guitar feedback... I know hindsight. But still. He was saying it that night, too. Even if part of the beginning was a sound check issue. It was written all over his performance and broke my heart in multiple ways. ..that nobody made sure he was ok, and his last performance I wish had been his masterpiece. But it did say soo much.
