Chopping Up Mats with Katana in Real Samurai Armor at a Dojo in Kyoto, Japan

Ойын-сауық

You may have seen images of samurai wearing armor in movies and TV dramas, but you don't know how it feels to actually wear it. At this facility, however, you can experience wearing the actual armor used in the filming of movies and TV dramas. If you love Samurai as much as I do, make sure you experience it when you visit Kyoto!

28:17 As armor continued to evolved daggers became more of a highly prioritized weapon to bring in case your main weapon is either lost or damaged beyond use. For example knights, as mail was the main armor before and swords were a primary weapon. But as armor evolved swords slowly became a secondary weapon to use as weapons such as bludgeons and axes became more common to help with armor destruction. I believe Samurai did the same as Katanas stayed by their hips and Naginatas, Yari, Tachi and bows were more of a primary weapon.

Oh man this is the first time I've seen a Yagyu style/derivative move done live! Really cool! I also love living vicariously through your experiences. I felt like a 12 year old otaku again watching you and kazu go through this experience!

I figured out moves and read up and finally taught classes, in South Africa. It's so cool to see how much I got right, but, the ending was super cool. Cutting a iece of flying tatami and using two swords, probably just like the samurai did, was amazing. I learnt so much. Thank you. Wish I could be there

this video is SO cool! thanks alot for making and sharing this! i actually know how you must have felt in this thick armour. i used to roleplay as a full plate armoured knight for 4-6 hours a day for 4 days on a large scale event in the summer sun! it is immensly tiring to wear heavy armour for several hours consecutively. :) i would love to one day try wearing a suit of japanese style armour! thanks alot!
